I think that it is the fresnel lenses that don't work well with moving the eyes, and FR can't do miracles to overcome this.

There’s zero correlation between FR and the physical limitations of the lenses. I don’t understand why the concept is so hard to grasp.
FR is not meant to make anything shaper - it’s designed to make the headset more efficient - which it does.

You guys keep dragging FR into a discussion that should be exclusively about fresnel lenses and how much they suck.

But for the price point I find it all quite good value personally.

And have nooooo problems being fast or having fun with this cheaper tech.

I don't know how to write it : "FR can't do miracles to overcome this" => FR can't overcome lenses limitations

FR determines which portion of the "screen" gets the best resolution, but if it is away from lenses sweet spot, the result is bad anyway.

Could it be better? Sure.
Is it still absolutely awesome? Hell yeah.
I could not agree more, and to my surprise it gave me a good boost in terms of being a better driver. Now on flat screen I feel like someone took away half of the visual clues I use to drive. At first I was doing worst lap times but it did not last long.
 
The new Renault Avantime has a MASSIVE amount of interior space in front of the driver.

God knows how one would wash the inside of the glass. Apart from by placing a teenage child with cloth in hand in front of the steering wheel. That'd work

😀. I like it too much. It’s my Renault Espace ccca before 20 years. Not a great memories as it was kaput too often. Sold after 3 years of troubles. But interior was amazing 🤩
 
Thoughts about "dirt tracks" which may resonate with you...

In GT Sport and for years of GT7, I really couldn't get to actually enjoy dirt tracks. Added to that, I was a terrible dirt track driver. So I stayed away from dirt until very recently.

VR has transformed them for me. Suddenly I can drive vaguely competently on dirt. Nowhere near "great", but "competent"

I think it may be that the three-dimensionality is telling my brain how the whole dynamic system is working, especially including those situations where the wheels are off the ground. I seem to have a much better feeling for understanding where the wheels are going to land.

Anyway, it's now enjoyable!

And I'd add to that, that with VR you can actually look where you want to go, not where the camera is pointing. That's not exclusive to dirt, but you spend more time sideways on the dirt than on tarmac so the discrepancy between where the camera aims and where you would look naturally is stronger on dirt.
 
The readability of instruments and the feeling conveyed by the cockpit design become so much more important for me in VR.

I'd like to call out the Miura P400 Bertone Prototype '67 as an example of a cockpit which is superb. I feel I can reach into the space past the steering wheel and never be able to touch the glass, it's so far away. In a sense, it's like the Avantime.

The feeling of space in front of me is just astounding. And the tach is very readable 👍 which is a great bonus.

Anyone know where to get replacement rubber tips for the earbuds? I tried some generic ones from Amazon but they fit too tight and restrict the audio.
 
Can't remember what setting and where it is that as an effect on buggy HUD in VR ? And what settings we can use that affect visual quality, framerate and so on.

If someone has a link to a handy resource available where I can find a summary, would be great, thanks.

Tried it a few minutes ago, indeed the HUD is better now. Did not notice any other differences. I read that it is supposed to eliminate some ghosting, but did I not pick up anything.
 
With the feature off, HUD is better, but reprojection is worse - look to the side when you are overtaking other cars. You will see ghosting. The place where it is most visible is replays. There are other differences as well - detail level at distance is worse with that feature off - I notice it clearly. To be honest, I never had issue with ghosting, but having more clear image is something I like. With the feature off, it looks 1:1 like on base (not Pro) PS5.

I personally turn it off only in some online races, where HUD is super unreadable for some cars.

Problem is its not only hud problem, many little bugs on cars and tracks especially noticable at Interlagos environment. I disabled it and yeah, without it on pro its just same as on base ps5 but bugs were too much for me.

Same here. It feels more "real" to me somehow. The other locations can sometimes feel a bit too fantasy and take me out of the immersion somewhat.
Interesting - I'm the complete opposite. The lighting is completely off for me. The sun and shadows move as my head moves... will try and capture it if I can.

The hinge where the goggles pivot upwards and forwards is either broken or one side has popped out

No but still useable just not as snug as previously

Be more careful when putting the headset on.
