On PS3 game does have some video frame rate issues. :ouch: except that it's just another GTA. Have fun with it.

If the graphics are slightly better than GTA IV, I'll be happy. GTA IV seemed a little blurry.

There are classic controls though? From what I gather it is changeable to old style.

I love this car that I jacked from a nice lady :)

Cars just have more heft and solidity to them - nice enough to want to keep and mod them etc
Kinda Mclaren SLR'ish

More like a Mercedes CLK 63 AMG Black Series :P (But with the new front lights ^^)

MMX

Not according to several other websites. Apparently there is Default, Alternate and Southpaw. Apparently alternate inverts brake and gas, not sure what Southpaw does though.

As long as I can drive with X and brake with Square I'll be happy and can get used to everything else. Based on other games that use triggers to drive, that is REALLY going to kill it for me. I just can't get used to it. Part of the reason I stopped playing SR3.

Then you will not be happy. I checked every configuration, you can not get X and Square to do gas and brake. I'm not happy about it either, but I'll get over it, I guess.

I guess I'll have to deal with it. What a killer though.

- The visuals. The old consoles are just not fit to run a game of V's magnitude well. Aliasing, low res textures, low frame rate, pop ups... You name it. [/COLOR]

It's not too bad, certainly better than Assassin's Creed III for example. You can see the individual pixels on the trees and grass flips up as you walk towards it. :yuck: I'm impressed at how you can see Mount Chilliad from the other side of the map and it doesn't look like a big pyramid, it still uses plenty of polygons even at that distance.

Much clearer, the shadows are much sharper to instead of being grainy like they were in IV.

Good to hear, thanks! Can't wait to get my grubby hands on it later.

I used triggers for accelerator/brake in GTA IV, so I've got nothing to bitch about in that department.

The new control layout will take some getting used to, and one thing I miss from IV is your enemies' health reticules. You're a little unsure whether that guy you just gunned down is dead or not.

I've barely scratched the surface of this game. I managed to get ~2km out of Los Santos before spotting a Bullet, stealing it and heading back to LS.

I wonder if Trevor's dealings in meth will lead to a few Breaking Bad references. :D

Played this game for about 3 hours and:

+ The audio: Every aspect of it I like. What I have heard so far from the radio stations I like, as there are some songs from the 90's when I was a little kid which I can remember, as well as some newer stuff.
The cars sound really cool as well, such as hearing thee exhaust 'pop' after changing gear and the general meatiness of the sound 👍. The guns also sound much better.
Also, when walking you can hear lots of different dialogue from peds, as well as the sound of traffic and over-passing planes, making the environment sound really alive. A massive improvement from IV.

+The visuals: GTA IV was just a brown, dull, blurry depressing mess when it came to aesthetics. Thankfully, all has changed. The picture is sharper, the colours are brighter and i'm struggling to find brown anywhere . This just gives the game a more 'fun' feel to it, making it seem like a game and not a build-up to suicide.

+The missions: Niko in IV was just a chauffeur/hitman, meaning you just dropped off a character somewhere and then shot someone at the end. The missions where slow and very repetitive. In V though, missions seem to have a real purpose behind them, actually building up the story and trowing you into action. The very first mission see's you shooting cops and escaping pursuit, instantly making the game exciting, and not just a daily round of choirs.

+Reduced frustration: In IV, there were a number of ways to cause the gamer to throw his controller across the room, namely stupid AI vehicles and a lack of checkpoints during missions.
Luckily, the AI has drastically improved, so that in chases cars don't just pull out without a second thought. They will often stop and wait for you to pass (though this isn't always the case)and they won't rear-end you if you stop at the lights during a leisurely cruise, damaging your sexy new car.
Checkpoints have been added, so you don't have redo a whole mission, only to get killed again.

I'm yet to find some real faults, that said I have only played for a short while so I won't rule them out.👍

Overall, I'm very happy, and I'm sure I will be for a while to go. :)

Is it just me, or do Franklin and Lamar sound like CJ and Sweet from San Andreas?

I think Franklin has a similar personality to CJ, in that he tries to avoid trouble and actually seeks to get out of the 'ghetto'. I would also say that Lamar is like Ryder, as he thinks he is in control of situations, and badly organises things and ends up in the 🤬

The country is what I was really looking forward to.
-It seems to be a lot harder to carjack somone in the back country than SA, which is more realistic, but kinda a pain if you just destroyed your car.
-I love the trucks and boat trailers in the back country!!
-The country seems about as big as I expected, it doesn't take long to get from the bottom of the map to the top.
-The country is just as jam-packed with fun stuff (animals, jumps, boats, strangers, etc), as the city. It's not just wasted space - actually to me there is no wasted space, the country is amazing.
-The Jumps and amount of verticle "air" you can get in the country is staggering.
I've played ten missions so far and still can't afford any of the good car customizations (which is a good thing). They are tiered so you have to unlock them. The wheel and suspension options are cool, haven't tried paint yet.
People have mentioned that the missions are stale old boring GTA type missions, which in a way I guess they are, but they have me engaged. I really like what I'm seeing so far.

Sexy Lens flare - capped in real time
Any way to transfer the iFruit camera pics to USB Stick?

The game obviously has some anti-aliasing, but there is still flickering going on

The beaches are seriously impressive, technically and artistically - waves, surf, caustics, refraction and the look. Even swimming pools have nice caustics.
You can just stand there, soak in the ambience and audio - relaxing, so it's a bit like Skyrim in this regard :)
I should take Chop "dog" for a walk here and play fetch with him :D

And the characters actually get and look wet

Those ps3 screencaps ? ^

Yes - direct from it's output in real time

Here are some time of day change ones - you can see the clouds move, the sun/moon as well, lens flares, lights of cars driving over the bridge etc, and the tide and surf changes as well!

It's a bit annoying when your enemies have assault rifles or shotguns, because unless you have armour (or cheats), you're going to face a quick death.

I like it so far. The driving physics are taking a bit to get used to, but I like them.

I'm to the point of preparing for the jewelry store heist.

Oh, and you can take selfies in the game. :dopey:

I also love changing characters. I didn't think I would but I do. Also, I've been messing around with the Air Force Base for about an hour now.

After roughly 7 hours of game play, I have completed 10 missions. I have completed about 10% of the game. There is 69 story missions. I still have not been introduced to Trevor yet.

Friend of mine was playing since the morning and he just said to me he could play with Trevor. I guess it takes a couples of whiles...

I played 1.5 hours today, had to go to work sadly. I want to play so hard right now, so much to discover. Are your triggers working out for you now? I played GTA4 with triggers, actually every race game, I prefer triggers..

Played about 45 minutes. I love it. I absolutely love it. I will need some time to get used to the driving and shooting mechanics, but it is really fun so far.

Loving it so far, only around 6 or 7 hours in. Haven't had a chance to explore too much of the countryside yet, been way too busy doing missions and cruising around the city.

I played for about 5 hours and I think it is great. A few annoying things here and there with color and texture flickering but it plays great. I learned the hard way that I need armor in missions or I will be killed instantly especially against cops. I'm at 15% and I still have yet to meet Trevor. The best thing about the game is the Voice Acting. They did an amazing job with that. As of right now I will give it 9.9/10 just for the flickering.

It's also fun not dying whenever you touch water.

Played near solid since the postman arrived at midday. Comparing it to IV (with no spoilers):

+ Character interaction is seamless and a sheer pleasure to behold
+ Wider roads and slightly simplified driving mechanics mean less mission frustration
+ Mission checkpoints
+ Combat, cover and movement are smoother and far less 'clunky'
+ Location variety - the countryside is simply gorgeous
+ Mission variety - I haven't even got as far as meeting Trevor yet and the missions are exciting and far less 'samey' than before
+ Visual FX, lighting, time, weather and incidentals are massively improved

- Cover system, although improved and smoother, is still a little hit and miss
- AI traffic is on occasion an immovable brick wall
- Some of the incidental character dialogue feels a little less cohesive so far
- Lack of Baywatch theme music when I stole a lifeguard truck and drove along the beach
- I almost forgot to eat and drink today

So far I am loving it - an epic explorable world as expected but executed with absolute beauty. So much so I am feeling bad about my non-human roadkill already!
