Is your friend playing the digital copy? I've heard that the digital versions have slower framerates since GTA V was designed to stream 50% of the data from the disc and the other 50% from the HDD, and bottlenecks occur when all of it's being streamed from the HDD, etc etc.

I've seen DF's comparison video. I feel bad for those who bought the digital version. But no, he's using the disc. Maybe I'm just way too picky with the framerate. Seems far more stable than GTA IV though. Can't expect all that much from these outdated consoles, I suppose.

:)

Welp, finally got around to customizing a FUTO. I feel like R* might be trolling us with parts like "Drift Wing" or "Drift Bumper" despite there not being anything close to drifting in this game.

I forgot to mention earlier, I witnessed my first GTA V thunderstorm during a mission. Holy crap it was intense (although it was undoubtedly scripted for the mission). The lighting bolts look very good. I hate thunderstorms with a burning passion so I was kind of scared during the mission, good job R*.

Something I thought of today while playing.
When it's raining followed by getting sunny fast, there's no rainbow to be found.
I know, nitpicking but still...

I would love to hear Trevor's reaction to seeing one.

Slidey cars cheat code. ;)

That's not the only thing people are fussing about..

Personally, I am unaffected by any of it and am still enjoying the game.

I posted that not to long ago. It was pretty violent.

Did they make a fuss over Far Cry 3? There was a LOT of killing animals in that game. One of the first missions you have to kill an animal.

I stopped reading after line 3 I think. "Allowing game playing children", no it's an 18, if someone's giving it to an under 18 then have your beef out with them. I'm not stupid enough to see Trevor boot a cow in the ass an think "That looks fun, I'm going to do it in real life too". Copy the stuff from a game like Grand Theft Auto and your life won't last very long.

Why is it that when I'm just cruising down the road and hear a police siren its always from behind me and the car they are chasing or the cop car itself runs into my newly customized ride? Was sitting at a light minding my own business and got clobbered by a cop car, and then I got a wanted level like it was my fault...

Oh, and apparently all police cars have unlimited grip off road.

Last complaint: crash physics & visual damage were way better in GTA4. Cars have too much grip at high speeds.

Other than that, loving it. I still can't get over how incredibly jaw dropping the graphics are. HUGE improvement over the last one. The next release on next-gen hardware (or even GTA5 on PC if it happens) will be unbelievable.

These people who are complaining that video-games are becoming too violent are most likely just old people afraid that society will copy what they see. One day, these people will be gone so then we can just play our games without people looking down on us and expecting the worst.

The SA map in HD era seems to look small when seen in the pause menu. However, it's actually big when roamed around.

So, can we ride horses? Are there even horses?

Don't think we can in V, that was a common feature of Grand Theft Equine: New Austin... a.k.a. Red Dead Redemption :sly:

As an old person, well I'm 34, but I'm much older than the 13 year olds I see whose parents are buying the game for... it's not that I worry people will copy, but I do think it desensitizes younger kids to things, which it probably shouldn't - apathy towards violence, crime, torture etc... probably isn't a good thing.

.. although I do enjoy shooting dogs, they are so much less jittery than Elk!

So my first impressions of GTAV were "Why am I shooting every time I sprint? "(I'm used to holding L2 to sprint) and "Why is my car not moving?" (I'm used to pressing X...)

But once I did get used to the controls, i immediately fell in love with the game. Sure, I can't hear a thing because of my PS3 constantly trying to process information, but I still love it.

I have the same problem, too. I think it's the lazer moving back and forth trying to scan the disk. I could be wrong, though.

I know it's his nature but I do find Trevor a bit in your face OTT. Still only played a few missions with him so will see how that goes, also it is insane the amount of things you can do only problem is struggling to free up some time to play

I'm going to save time, since I'm always spending what I don't have anyway, and cut and paste some comments I made at another Forum about this game.

I played some GTA5 (sic) today.

Very violent, senseless, fun, stimulating . . . and addictive. In fact Pavlovian. And very much a video-game, far removed from reality.

I'm really not surprised that the game raked in almost a billion dollars on it's release.

However, driving/racing is more my type of game so I have to wait for Drive Club. And GT6. For some real hard-core addiction.

And in response to some who said it was an improvement on GTA IV:

Yes, a huge leap - though, of course, that can be a matter of opinion. I found it to be very addictive - tapping the child in me that needed not only to vent, but also to fantasize. Maybe, in a way, this helps younger folk (at least those old enough to play the game) define for themselves that line between reality and fantasy that sometimes gets blurred. The graphics, while awesome, are video-gamey enough for anyone with a modicum of sensibility to realise that it is only a game, and not the kind of virtual reality that numbs the synapses to the point that one doesn't know a game from the real thing. Reality, also, is deftly parodied enough in the game to make one laugh at the various possibilities available in our daily decision-making when mortality (or punishment) is not a concern. I believe a lot of players may have already finished all the missions, and are impatiently looking forward to the Online mayhem.

Yup. Great time-waster.

Why is it that being the 'good' guys, can be boring? :D Crime does pay. At least when developing video-games.

To be honest I'm a bit disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I'm having loads of fun but I really think in some ways this is a giant step back from IV. The driving physics are absolutely horrid. I know the game want focused on that, but I much preffered IV's driving. Especially on motorcycles. And the damage is a major step backwards too. Very disappointed in those ways.

However, I like the story more so far. The characters are much more interesting and you get more of their personality in this game. About an hour ago I just got to the first Trevor mission and I laughed incredibly hard at his first cutscene.

So overall, not as awesome as I had hoped, but I still love it. I still have much more to try too, so it may improve.

Th damage is kind of strange. When I had my first few smashes I expected a lot more damage, but after awhile I realised the damge factor is unpredictable; sometimes it's too much, sometimes it's: "WTF? What is this thing made of?"

The characters are a huge leap in psychological make-up, and are totally hilarious. Amazing how so much humanity was distilled into them. Trevor terrifies yet fascinates me. One can't help liking Franklin, or having some sympathy for Michael. And the laughs are galore - one thing about this game is it makes you laugh - big time.
