So, what do you guys think? Will the kiddies move on to GTA IV, causing the quality of online races to go up? Or will it be just as lame as before?

I think the quality will go up, but just slightly

Really bad things like cars driving backwards or parking on the track should dissappear, but over aggression and chrome horns will most likely stay intact

i very nearly threw my controller at my TV last night and in a pro server too.. damn idiots cant drive properly and think it hilarious to nudge you into the fence if you are overtaking around the outside. the only thing that stopped me is the repair bill of a 65" Plasma

Well if the driving quality has improved I'll be able to report back - I'm on GT5P all night because I couldn't get hold of a copy of GTA:IV today, despite working in a shop that sells it, and taking it in the morning delivery...

Jeez 65" plasma!! Have you go a licence for that?

On a serious note though, the deliberate rammers will not doubt enjoy the style of a game like GTA4, so I think the standard of racing will be better:tup:

Just got mine at midnight, guess what I will be playing....

Until we have private rooms and ability to kick people, GT5P is dead to me now, atm.

You cannot cure cancer. Juust another couple (or dozen) months for Home. Unless Sony decides to completely scrap Home (which wouldn't surprise me).

just read somewhere that all servers for gta4 are down!!!...hahaha,100,000's people at the sametime trying to go online and the whole thing crashes!!....
oeps, that means some kids will be back on bumping mode in gt5p!!

lol.

That's what I've been predicting since GT5:P was released. We'll see if I was right in the coming days.

Jeez 65" plasma!! Have you go a licence for that?

it is a dream to play GT5p on it..

i really do hope they all disapear as i got in that frame of mind again at the shear unsportsman like behaviour of these idiots.

I hope so!

....... the same shannanigians that hurt you in GT5P will help you in GTA IV

but then again you can lead a horse to water, but you cant make them drink(yea I live out in teh country.....so?)

I'm sorry but there is a lot of assumptions on here, if not not a good amount of bull****. There ARE some of us who a) are NOT ramming teenagers who play the GT5P and b) there are probably millions who like both the GTA series and GT5. Please don't tar everybody with the same brush.
There are people on this site who seem to think they are the b all and end all when it comes to GT5. The sooner we get away from this pompous attitude the better. Everybody is entitled to play online GT in their own way and whilst I don't care for some of the antics that go on I for one am not going to spend hours playing GOD and moaning as if I owned the game. Stop whinging and get on with the real world.
There I've had my say.....................Now awaiting the onslaught.......as if I care :grumpy:

no one is really saying that everybody who likes GTA is a bad driver on GT. the idea is, that those who take to ramming and generally disregard the correct way to race, will find the gameplay and style of GTA better and play that instead of using the same tactics they would in GTA in GT which they currently are doing. or possibly, those rammers are casual gamers, who will be enticed with a more glitzy title in GTA.

Well, that's actually not what I intended to imply with my post. What I meant was that when a new game comes out, a lot of people buy into the hype and play the game......until another hype arrives and they move on to the next game, etc. etc. Only the enthusiasts will keep playing a game over and over and over again because they really like the game. So, basically in the first few weeks, a lot of people are playing the game, but after the first few weeks, attention diminishes and mostly the serious players remain. This will also be true for GTA4 when the next hype arrives. :)
I did not mean to imply any relationship between driving in GTA4 and driving in GT5P, because frankly, I don't think there is one.

That sounds like a good story, do tell :D

It sounds as it is :sly: I signed in the morning delivery with the copies of GTA:IV, and thought "right, when I'm done with what I'm doing I'll go buy it". I was done by lunchtime, there were still copies left, so I thought "great, I'll have it now". Unfortunately, we do an internet reserve service and they've all been reserved!

That said, it only lasts 24 hours and if they haven't collected it by then it's back to every man for himself, so I just rang work to ask them to hold it for me if they haven't collected it by midday :D

Back on topic, I raced last night in the absence of GTA and I have to say there were fewer racers than usual at the time I played and the standard was quite high. There were only two drivers in the 15 odd races I did who were playing bumper cars still, and I actually took down the names of some good drivers, people who made every effort not to hit me, didn't make passes in impossible places etc.

So whether it was just coincidence or not, driving standards last night did seem to be better.

I noticed the same thing. Far less racers than previously and only one very aggressive driver on the track(and guess what he/she was driving). Others seemed to race good.

I had a similar experience last night, though I only spent about 45 minutes at 700pp Suzuka. Far fewer racers than last week, and average quality was much improved. Instead of half the race going off in turn 1, it was 1 or maybe 2 out of 12. There was still some bumping, but it appeared to be of the unintended variety in most cases (usually the result of mistakes by one party or the other).

My last race was just 3 of us, and all 3 were solid, including an Elise that pulled off an amazing pass in the 2nd half of the Spoon for the lead.

I have GTA4 so i will be playing it for the next few day's -offline though because i bought it for offline play.

man, this sounds so sweet. i dont know what to play now. GTA needs attention but the lure of better racing online...maybe i will play both for an hour or so.

I notices that there are less racers online, but those that are drive generally more clean.
I hope they're going to add more professional events tomorrow, so that we can race slower cars without having to drive with standard physics.
The chances of racing against GTP or GTRP members have also increased.

So it's safe to go on Suzuka now? I tried Daytona Road today but the only people racing there were idiot punters.

I haven't been online today because I got GTA4, but from yesterday it did seem that things had improved.
