I run a race room which features classic and historic racing every Sunday between 17:00 and 19:00 BST.

That time and day doesn't suit many people so we have set up a club which offers a good quality online experience to clean, mature drivers (no profanity) with experienced hosts from around the world, on a range of days and times - some race meetings are open to the public and others require you to sign up, some events are held on an as and when basis and some have a regular slot - all are high quality - hopefully there is something to suit most tastes.

Online rooms are titled: GTPcla6 subject to space. There is no need to join the GTP Classix Club - only send an FR if the Host requests one (many rooms are open to the public with no need for FR).

Any Hosts (or Clubs) who want to be affiliated to GTP Classix Club just send details to Sick_Cylinder via GT Planet and we will agree a publicity poster and provide a link to your thread if you have one.

A big week for the club - the first running of FergusMik's Classic Mini Racing on Wednesday - the first running of SmileyWRX's Pre 73 500PP Racing on Thursday and continued running of Dr Driftman's Cruise and Drift - all were a great success and are open to the public - no need to join anything! Have a look at the following photos of this weeks action, check out the details at the start of the thread then join the action next week - go on you know you want to!

Classic Race Room News
This Sunday will be the final round of the "World Classic Cars" and "Cobra Ferrari Wars" championships after 24 intense and closely fought rounds. The next exciting set of championships "Historic BSCC" and "Ford Ferrari Wars" start on 14th September - they are currently full, but I will be reviewing the number of Reserve Driver slots following the meeting on the 14th - get your name down if you want to join in the action.

Classic Mini Racing with FergusMik has really taken off - Wednesdays from 21:00 GMT - be on time to avoid disappointment as it fills up very quickly - No need to FR as it is a public room. Sunday Classic Racing - the Meet, Greet and Test day was held last Sunday and as expected with a new championship there were a few problems which should be resolved in time for the launch on Sunday 14th September. This championship is full, but the number of Reserve Driver slots will be reviewed after the first meeting. Enjoy these posters made from footage of Sundays test races.

I'm looking forward to trying out the new Zahara track with a few of my favourite cars - let's hope it comes this week!

2016 Race Series Ideas

Aurora AFX (Formula GT) - a recreation of the Aurora AFX British National Formula 1 Championship 1978 using the Formula Gran Turismo race car. These cars used a 3.0 litre V8 Ford Cosworth DFV F1 engine producing about 475bhp. The winning cars included the Mclaren M23 (5 wins for Tony Trimmer), Ensign N175 (2 wins - Geoff Lees and Giancarlo Martini), Surtees TS19 (1 win for Bob Evans), March 781 (3 wins - Guy Edwards and Bruce Allison) and Wolf WR3 (1 win for Dave Kennedy).

Car required: Formula Gran Turismo, 2m credits, Tyres Sports Hard, Power limit 475bhp, Tuning Prohibited. Race Duration 20 minutes with one pit stop. Practise 5 minutes, Qualifying 5 minutes (subject to track length).

Colour Options: there are 16 colourways.

Video Clips for Aurora AFXThe most successful car in the Aurora AFX British National Formula One Championship in 1978 was the McLaren M23 driven by Tony Trimmer. In this clip Martin Brundle takes a McLaren M23 for a drive round Silverstone and shares his driving impressions:




The title sponsor of the championship "Aurora AFX" sold a range of slot cars and tracks very similar to the better known Scalextric brand. This short clip shows the start of the 1979 Aurora AFX race at Brands Hatch with commentary by the wonderful Murray Walker and James Hunt. The cars are a mixture of secondhand F1 cars which were no longer competitive at world championship level and ones purpose built for national F1 racing.
