And?

That sounds like something my sterotypical Chevy fanboy friends would say yet can't provide a reason why they say that.
I believe he/she is referring to the image brought upon by Ford and not the car itself.

Total performance era was the image they had until they ruined it in the early 2000s.

Fords have to do a lot to be cool simply because they're Fords.* In the GT40's case, the kit cars drag it down to uncool, whereas if it were a Lancia it would be an easy sub zero, kit cars or no kit cars.

Badge has a big effect on how cool a car is.

Ford is not a cool badge, even less so across the pond. That shouldn't even have to be elaborated on.
I can probably find hundreds of thousands of people that would disagree with you with a simple request on a few FB groups

Other than being a textbook example of confirmation bias, I don't really see what that would accomplish.

Why is it so hard to fathom that the badge of the blue-collar is hardly the coolest, most coveted in the automotive kingdom?

You must look who you're talking to :P

I'm not saying it's the coolest or anything, it just sounds like something a lot of the fanboys say but don't have a real reason.

Are you talking about what Roger the Horse said, or your insistence that Ford can't have a poor image? ;)
Mostly what was said. I'll be the first one to tell you everything that's 🤬 about the brand, believe me

@Slash -- I won't fault a fanboy who can rattle off a list of negatives but loves what they love anyway. You gotta live with negative images, though. All three of my favorite brands have got that pretty well covered -- BMW, Porsche, Subaru.

Fords are hardly cool here, too. They'll either be a crappy economy car, a work ute, or a bogan Falcon.

Most Fords, people actually recognise as Ford, here, are relatively dull family cars, Transit vans and possibly dull family cars with massive "look at me" bodykit and spoiler. They don't think about some 60s muscle car or some 50s cruiser when they hear the word Ford. Here, if show a picture of late 60s Mustang to people on the street, most of them won't even know it's a Ford, and if you say Ford to those people, they think of these.

Grandma mobiles, family cars, vans and cars 18 year olds buy because you can get one for almost no money at all, just aren't cool.

Yeah there's definitely some I can see with it

Sounds like a cop out, considering you could shoot an arrow blind in the pitch black of night and hit ten car companies across the globe in one shot that have had similar issues. And those same groups also created historical cars...but you know people will find reasons to hate out of hate. And then of course make a cop out for said hate cause it's much easier to do that then explain.

Simple as this, there are moments in a group's life where they do inspirational or monumental things that will be remembered through the ages and it's those moments that tend to separate the action done, from the group who did said action. Thus in this moment like many other moments in car history a car transcended the mundane group it hailed from.

This isn't the alternative wall (which you should know very well) and Ford isn't the one we're voting on or judging at the moment. What we are judging is the GT40 that happens to be manufacture by Ford. There is a distinct difference there.

And Ford have an image issue that tends to make them uncool, perfectly exemplified by how when describing the Ford Escort RS Cosworth, Jeremy Clarkson suggested one should pronounce "Cossie" without closing one's mouth.

I was hoping for this car to make to Steve McQueen's Garage. At this point, it looks like it's not happening. Right now, it's just past the threshold for the Ice Box.

That's great let's vote on that in the proper thread, seeing as this isn't the Ford Cool wall as I've explained in great depth. Also if it hasn't been said once it's been said a thousand times and will be said a thousand times more, no one seriously trying to give credit to their argument uses a non-serious Clarkson quote for reference.

I'm really not sure if you're trolling or just unable to comprehend the concept that when some cars with a brand name have a chavvy image, that tends to have a negative effect on the image of other vehicles with that brand name, particularly when wannabe engineer and their dog has made a replica of it.

I thought imitation was the highest form of flattery but many people are saying the car is uncool for it. I don't get it, I mean I'm not exactly seeing a slew of pinto kit cars running about. Seems to me if you can't come up with it on your own you copy it, and who wants to copy something uncool?

Yes, because there's nothing cooler than looking at a car and thinking "OK, is that the real deal or something with a Peugeot engine that was built in somebody's shed?"
