Cheap Hardly Effective Virtually Runs On Luck Every Time

There's a similar one here but for Ford, a mechanic I know made laugh my ass off a couple of days ago:

FeoOrdinarioRepareDiario

Which loosely translates to "Ugly, crude, repair daily".

*puts on firesuit*

First on Race Day
Fast on Race Day
Fix or Repair Daily

Etc etc I've heard them all.

Cracked head every valve rattles oil leaks every time.

That was my favorite one for Chevrolet

Its a Mustang from before muscle cars were killed off.

It may be the least cool Mustang of that period, but it's still a classic Mustang, no matter how you look at it.

Cool.

A black 1969 Mustang Fastback that looks as evil as this would be cool.

Introduce all this malarkey about "estimated" power figures, engine codes, NASCAR history, and collector's values and the car stops being a car and starts being a nostalgia trip for rich old men.

Rich old men are not cool.

The NASCAR history part would be cool if, you know, it was real :/

The only history it has tied to NASCAR is through the Torino. Which this engine was designed for.

A Mustang did race in NASCAR once.

I would post a picture, but Google thinks I'm talking about either the current Nationwide series car (that isn't a Mustang at all), a pace car, or the normal production car.

They've just had uncool cars for so long, they think those cars are cool.

Now normally I look at your opinions in these threads and laugh but this is just outright stupid. Come on! Capris have been around for years and they so damn cool I have one! :sly:
In fact they were that cool, Ford imported them to the US! ;)

As for the Boss.

It's a BOSS Mustang. Sub-Zero.

If I remember correctly, that was the 1969 Talladega 500 where a lot of the series regulars boycotted the race due to it being unsafe, so series officials grabbed Sportsman Division drivers and had them enter their Sportsman Division cars into the 500, which included Camaros and Mustangs. Still.. that wasn't a Boss 429 either, since that was specifically for drag racing purposes.

Love these cars. Sub Zero vote from me especially since its a "Boss". 👍

The 67, 68, 69, and 70 Mustangs are my favorite Mustangs.

Seriously Uncool. Needs "Cammer", better suspension, two more gears and a diet.

And you realize who you're talking to? It's useless, bud. He talking about modifying a car in this thread is enough to ignore the post. He'll next go "lol pushrods". Just let it go.
Good point 👍

Though it has to be said that it accidentally handled better than most Mustangs rather than a conscientious attempt to turn it into a track star like the 302 or GT350.

Very true  Especially having such a heavy motor up front.

I still think I'd rather have a Mustang with IRS, I would find it way more fun than a live rear axle.

I read somewhere that the original car was supposed to have it but it was scrapped last second.

There is IRS kits for these cars though. But I wouldn't ever do it to a Boss especially since it already handles well. It uses Boss 302 suspension with various upgrades very were. The whole car sits like an inch and a half lower than a stock Mustang.

Both LRA and IRS have their strengths, same with OHV/DOHC and any other engineering solutions that people habitually inflate into a form of "us vs them." For the most part, there's no single "best" solution for all conceivable situations and tasks.

Live rear axles only really work if you're drag racing or driving a truck, they are also cheaper and probably more reliable due to less moving parts. From a performance and ride quality perspective though, they aren't good as other options just due to the way they work. I'm sure a live rear axle vehicle can be made to work decently well in a corner, but an independent suspension will almost always work better.

I've been around solid axled cars all my life and have been around new cars with IRS and I have to say the solid axle cars had a much better ride quality to them except for maybe something that's brand spanking new. I was impressed the first time I rode in a solid axle classic Mustang. I almost couldn't tell.
