It's really ugly, looks like it was made in the 80s, has a 6.0 V8 but only a 3 speed transmission in 1990=seriously uncool

You guys realize the 3 speed auto used in this is widely recognized as one of the best auto transmissions ever built right? Nothing else in the world at the time could withstand the power this cars engine was putting out except the Ford C6 but that wasn't used because of compatibility issues.

It doesn't matter, the fact that they used an auto trans in this thing is still seriously uncool.

The otherwise unadulterated awesome of the entire car absolutely overpowers that and sends it to sub-zero, though.

My most beloved of cars came with a 3 speed auto (from the early 80's), and not once did that fact ever detract from the driving experience, in-fact, trying to initiate kickdown during cornering was far more riotous then playing with a stick ever is. (in no small part because of the hopeless TRX metrics )

So, given that I'm not going to take the uncool 'cus automatic route. I'm going to go for cool, looks good, I like the 80's style interior, and the fact it was probably about 8 years too late for its own good is now irrelevant.

Uncool. It doesn't pull off the classic 80s-supercar-wedge-shape anywhere nearly as well as a Countach or Diablo. That interior is ridiculously gimmicky and silly-looking now.

Oh, and 3-speed auto. I, mean... I just... Wut?

It might one of the best autos ever, but that's like saying the best area of your body to be shot is in the foot - you'd rather it didn't happen at all, right? A nice manual is always better, especially in a car with sporting pretensions.

There is only one problem with this car: The steering wheel. Looks veeery stupid.

Other than that, this is the closest you'll ever get to getting a Millenium Falcon...

Sub-freaking-zero.

I don't think you understand....there wasn't anything out at the time that could handle the power, period.

But otherwise, yes I get what you mean.

To note: According to Wikipedia, this car put out over a thousand horsepower at 14 psi of boost... a setting which was available to the driver.

Not many transmissions could take that kind of power back then... even now, it's difficult to build one that can... the reason why many big motor AMGs use automatics.

And consider, 0-60 in four seconds and a reported prototype top speed of over 240 mph. Not shabby.

Don't care either way... the interior is 80'stastic, and the styling is even worse. Just edges into uncool.

Because it isn't a Cizeta-Moroder.

Not to mention the fact that you'll fly up to 80mph in first gear alone

Most bystanders will think you had a whole lot of money to blow on an inanimate-object-recreation of The Fly, subbing in an old Gilette for Goldblum (sharp), and a Countach for the insect (can't stay still). The fact it makes kit cars look like quality items won't help your case.

I would vote uncool, but it's just so quirky & out there, esp. for an 80's design that never actually made it in the 80's. The specs to this day are questionable, but this car still has an amazing cult following & Gerald is seen often in his W8 & M12. The failed relaunch with the WX-3 (& another car built for no other reason than to spout made up top speed/horsepower numbers) gives this car even more credibility since it relied on none of that nonsense and actually got some examples out the door.

Still like the M12 more of the 2, though, despite being just as wacky in design & nowhere near as "successful". But, it was at least something that actually looked like it belonged in the 90's.

Seriously uncool I think. If you wanted something wedge-y you could have bought a Countach, at least those don't look like some poorly-made kit car.

Supercar = seriously uncool...

... except when they look so absolutely insane that everyone - everyone, regardless of car enthusiast levels - takes one look, registers a mental "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!" and has to take a second look. And they still don't know after a good stare.

Also starred in the film Rising Sun, one of my favourites.

@McLaren I love the M12 but am I the only one who thinks it looks like a 4th gen Camaro's more attractive brother?

This despite it actually being a refitted Diablo.

Atrociously ugly, and that part of the 80s was not cool.
