If I baby my tires and gas I should be rewarded without having to stop, right? I know around Indy, doing the Indy 500 endurance, I could make my tires last an extra 20-25 laps without holding the 787 to the floor around the turns. I did that for one out 8 (?) stints. :)

Some racing series require you to make at least one pit stop, whether or not you need fuel or tires.
 
bunch of us in a room right now and are going to run a 20 lap race at 9pm (15 minutes from now) to test this whole tire wear thing to gauge pit stops.

Wish I could've joined tonight but I gotta watch my Falcons on Monday night football. I gotta catch one of these races though so I can see how it's gonna be when we get to the real thing.
 
First post updated with new-ish schedule. Also, I am adding a (Race 1) next to each driver that confirms their attendance for the first race.

Hey Hami... Just curious... Did you ever come do the Turkey Trot at Sebring maybe 4-5 years ago and did you ever do any Pro SpecMiata stuff in the early days? I seem to remember your car from those races. Or at least the color.

Not me. I have only seen 3 or 4 cars in obnoxious green around the forums. Never seen another one at the same track with me. One of my competitors called it eye bleeding green.

I started in 2004 in ITC racing a Honda Civic, then moved to Spec Miata in 2008. Mostly race at Mid Ohio, Gingerman, Grattan and Waterford Hills.

Raced remote controlled cars for 20 years in the same eye bleeding green colors.

checking who pits and if one misses a pit the lap is quite long, but I'm all for the idea, I'm just not sure how pitting would work in an online race, as I've never done it.
EDIT: thought nurburgring meant nordschleife

Nope, short GP Circuit. Lap times are in the 1:46 range.

Hey Blaine- great driving with you last night. That was kind of fun beating up on those non Miata guys in their high HP cars. It was cool watching you get faster and faster as you got adapted to the grip difference between practice mode and online. I'm sure I'll be online some today and tonight so hope to see you again.

Great driving with you, too. Thanks for the tips and such. It was a ton of fun beating the guys with much more power... which is what Miatas were built to do.

I'm going to be away from the PS3 for a week or so, but I'll be back and plan to spend more time with the Spec Miata. That was probably the most fun I've had with GT5 so far.

Count me out guys.

My PS3 just froze in the middle of saving my XP from an online race. I restarted the system and it killed my save file. I have NOTHING now. No more level 22, no more 80+ cars, all 60 license golds are gone, my museum cards/paint chips... EVERYTHING is gone. I have to start from 0 all over again. :banghead: I don't have the 70 whatever grand it's gonna cost to rebuild one of these things. Not to mention the time to break it in. I don't think I'll have the chance to do it for a while... I've almost lost the will to even play anymore. :nervous:

Sam sent me a car that is pretty much right on. It's not MNP but it's so close I can hardly tell, and the wheels are even better looking than what I had before (what color did you paint those?).

And TT; thanks for the cash cow! I'll add R1600 and Sonic later on, but you guys don't have to do anything at this point unless you really want to.

This will definitely help me get back on my feet and now I'll be able to make those Spec races. Unfortunately, there isn't anything that anybody can do about the 60 license tests or all the special events I've golded. That's all just gonna take a good bit of time to get back. :ouch:

I'm running The Grape II around some easy B-Spec events right now (with T.Faust!) to get the engine broken in properly.

I'll try to find my way into a room tomorrow night to run with everyone.

Scepter is in 68th, Acanak is in 228th, and Dove is not in the top 250.

You two are 2.7 and 5.5 seconds behind EERS in the Academy- how are you faster than him here? Are you sure you guys have your cars set up to spec? Skid recovery off? No adjustable tranny, etc.??

R1600, as you have shown that you are very concerned with players being on equal ground, I have high hopes that you will apply the same scrutiny to your own competition. 👍
 
Well I haven't seen any of them on track yet, nor have they confirmed for the first race. We'll just have to wait and see.

Edit: actually one of them is confirmed.

Thanks a lot man! Honestly, per track I spent more time on this qualifier trying to beat you over any of the GTAcademy tracks. I express the same concerns as you. Hopefully everyone is legit.

Cape Ring is the track that is giving me fits right now, but I haven't put in much time on it yet and I know where I'm loosing time to the really quick guys. I'm only at a 2:48.4 right now but with a bit more work I know I can get down into the 2:46's and it should move me up a good bit. I really don't know how much time I'm going to devote to it though, as long as I'm in the top 128 and move into round 2 I'm not going to be too concerned about it.


And yes I'll be at race 1, still running silver/bronze.
 
Thanks for the races last night guys, I've never really raced online much so I hope I was clean enough. I was involved in a few shunts but they were all accidental on my part and felt like I gave as good as I got.
Also, I was losing a massive amount of time in the last sector of trail mountain, are those settings that Turbo posted still around? I had a look but couldn't see them.
I'm not registered for the tourny and will only be playing until the 4th of Jan so couldn't commit but running in the practise rooms is fun as long as you guys are ok with it.
