Do I need to do something on GTPlanet to be able to use a GTP tag?

No, just set up the tag through your Playstation, just like you set up your original tag.

People get the tag for the Weekly Racing Series though. So if you don't do it you really don't need the GTP tag.

So I need to take part in the GTP weekly racing events and that's it?

It's more of the other way around, you need to do it if you want to compete in the weekly or monthly racing series

So if I do get one do I have to compete in the events?

I don't think it's a necessity unless you're going to be racing in it full time but I've seen other people with the GTP_ tag who don't race in that series. Could just be a personal thing like how people wear certain brands maybe some people just want to represent GTP?

Could a moderator please help me with this.

Sure.

Question answered perfectly.

I thought that you had to go through the qualifier in order to be able to use the GTP tag and become an official registry member rather than just create a new PSN account with the GTP prefix.

If you want to create an account with a GTP_ prefix, that's your call. We can't stop you. If you want to take part in the WRS, you need to have a GTP_ prefix - and that means you need to do the qualifier.

I have a GTP_ prefixed account - it's my main one in fact. Find me in the WRS Registry... I actually did the GT5P WRS qualifier, but I haven't done the GT5 one.

I've been living a lie all this time then... I don't do the WRSs but I'd rather be an official member of the registry so that if anyone decides to google the prefix they'd find our names there. :)

My GTP is my main account as well, that's the only one I race online with.

Everybody can make and use a GTP_ tag .

But when you run the GTP_Qualifier and your name comes on the GTP_Registry list the main important thing is that you commit yourself to the GTP Online racing rules.

Now everybody who meet you racing online will know you are a clean racer just by checking the list.👍

We have no control how GTP_people race online but if GTP_racers drive very dirty they will be removed from the registry.

No shame in not running in the events to this point.

It's also nice to be able to benchmark your skills against other (fast, fair and clean) racers and put your division in your signature, as I see you have. :)
