Jordan created GTP. I don't know if he makes any money off of it though, the only income he would get would be from people buying premium.

Jordan is the site founder and I believe that he doesn't get money off this unless people buy premium. And yes, this is in the wrong section of the forum and I highly suggest that you move it when you can.

I thought premium went towards paying for the site's domain.
 
I'm about 80% sure he also gets money when people click on the advertisements as well. Not much (about 5c or 10c a click). But considering how many people are registered to GTP...
 
Money earned from Ads and Users buying premium go to keep the site running.

I doubt he gets anything from it.
 
I think Premium payments go directly to Jordan, then he uses it to upgrade the server or upgrade the site with new features.
 
I am sure the cash from premium member's and advertising likely pays for server costs many times over. Vbulletin licence is a few 100 bucks, updates are free unless it's a major revision.

With the amount of members/viewers, GTP is worth a few 100 thousand dollars likely.

Its all relative to what you pull in. GTP started as a hobby but is a business. Good luck to Jordan though. If members really want to help, they should click on adds more often.
 
I just have to say that at least some money goes to the right place ( :sly: ) as gtplanet has always been maybe the most pleasant forum ever to browse. The response times are really great 👍

Totally going to click on ads more now. Somehow I knew thats how it worked, but now that I've made the connection in my head, I'll be sure to do it more often.

Something I like about GT Planet? Jordan doesn't seem to put up the "Living in (Insert your City)? Learn this one trick about (Car insurance, losing weight)" or "You're the (Insert number)th visitor! Claim your prize here!" or my favorite "Earn money by doing this one small thing!".

That alone makes this site stand above all others to me.

I agree, I also am amazed at how aesthetically pleasing the forum design is compared to some forums I've seen.
