This is what I ended up with after last nights session

36.448
45.222

Still big chunks available in T2 if I can keep off the invisi-walls...

Splits after another hour session.
Seen a couple 36.0xx but this is my fastest t2 and lap.

36.417
44.425

T1 37.625
T2 45.814

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I think it would be best if I just skipped this week, but thats just not me.. I checked a few different times to make sure I was running the right track. :-)

Lawn mow the whole section ;) wont be racing this one... GL to all

That's a shame, know you would have been up the top spots.

Is that a Ford or a Briggs & Stratton I'm driving? :sly:

@Manuelos
I'm not that game with my G27, FFB only on 8 :D
I can't play dirt without the FFB enabled, although I have to turn the game off after an hour. Starts to smell nice burning plastic and very warm :scared:

@jbrinkley
Keep the car as straight as possible, especially in T1. That means even if over the first small jump up the hill you are pointing to the fence. You should hit that at about 130-132kph. If you are down at about 127 it means you took the first corner in T1 too sideways. On the start keep as close to the right as possible, even sacrificing a bit of speed as carrying more speed up the hill is important. Then straight line the first left corner, hugging the inside bushes near the tree and aim for the right of the jump. When you take the jump you are kind of jumping across the jump from right to left pointing to the fence, rather than jumping it straight (but still keeping the car striaght, just pointing sideways across the jump). I would post up a video of T1 but I don't know how to export a replay to video. Hope this helps improve your times.

T1: 37.432
T2: 47.306

I am not a huge fan of Rally, this might be my final time for this week.

Regardless of what you're driving Sid, you're on fire this week - great splits 👍

Doesn't seem too many people are taking part this week, either through fear that their wheel will break or that they don't get on with gravel I guess? To those in the latter camp, how are you going to learn if you don't try? I've learnt a huge amount in the last 2 weeks and I've already knocked huge chunks of time off my previous effort with this challenge from when the game first came out.

Come on...

thanks for the advice, I'll see what I can do with it. I can only improve right? 👍

First run at this and I found it hard to stop as I was enjoying it so much. My DFGT wasn't enjoying it much so I pulled out the power plug to disable the FFB. It had taken my an hour to get into a rhythm and I didn't want to stop or damage the wheel. The first 20 minutes without FFB were quite tricky but soon got used to it.

T1: 36.564
T2: 43.843

Wow, that's an awesome T2 Nizzy. Great to see you giving it a good go, it's all about track knowledge. I think once people learn the track their time will improve. And as usual the cream always rises to the top, whether it's circuit, rally, or a rowboat i'm sure Zoky and Webber will always be there 👍

I do hope people would take this as serious as any other WRS event, and put in the same time as they normally would.I'm sure some even may discover they might be better than they thought, and even enjoy it. I knew week 9 wasn't going to be my strongest effort, but I gave it my best effort as I always do, regardless of whether it suits my style or not (even if you did exact your revenge on me :sly: ). In actual fact I enjoy the ones i'm not good at more, because improving on them is a great satisfaction and pride.
As for the wheel, I don't think anyone will break it as long as they are sensible. Feel it getting hot (warm is ok) or smelling then turn it off. I run it on 8 and haven't had any issues, just love the feeling of the rocks under the wheels ripping the steering out of my hands. I grew up thrashing around on dirt bikes and old escorts in the dirt roads in QLD, which is why I probably like it so much :mischievous:

You'll be getting your own back this week without a doubt. I agree with all that you've said, especially the statement highlighted above - I'm really enjoying it now despite dreading it before I started. My old driving force wheel doesn't seem to really notice the gravel :sly: so I'm continuing as normal. I've had much improved splits in T2 only to hit walls I can't see :ouch: but I'll hopefully string it all together as time passes on. Despite this, I'm very happy with my T3 currently and my overall time. There are so many places to lose time on this one it's unreal

first splits....

T1: 38.485
T2: 47.154

Having fun..but I don't think I'm all that good at this! :P

I'm still a bit hit and miss with T3, have done it 0.5 better but just hard to get it right. My tips are in 2 places, both involve long straights where lots of time can be made.

The exit of the very first corner will make or break your T1, you really need that speed up the first hill and down into the second. I usually exit the first corner around 70-75kph, any faster than that and you'll loose time trying to swing back left to avoid the poles on the right. You want to exit so that you are lined up to run alongside those poles, and take the jump from right to left pointing to the fence, but staying straight to not loose speed. Then stay on the left fence until just around the bottom of the hill and cross over right to begin mowing the lawn. I lift to about 75% throttle and stay in 4th gear here to let the torque pull me up the hill.

Next is the exit of the last corner of T2, it's a very long straight after that and you must exit smoothly on the gas, don't just dump it or you'll loose time spinning the wheels and drifting sideways. Small drifts are fine, as long as you are progressing forwards as well. Just after the last jump I stay about 3/4 across to the right, slightly throttle off and steer to the left on the grass (while missing the invisible wall) and try to maintain about 155-160. I don't always get this right though, and the last corner I have no advise since I can only fluke it now and again. Better ask Zoky about that one

I'm sure as the week progresses you will improve, and don't let the leaderboard fool you, i've still completely botched that last corner. You can easily loose a second in T3 if you don't get it right, and I haven't got it yet.
Shame that rudi and josh are busy, we need someone to help Dan hunt down Zoky :sly:

And just enjoy, just the FFB alone is worth it 👍

@pyxen
Is that an R6, looks fun!

Thanks Sid - I have to say our approach to sector 1 seems quite different, I'll try it your way. I'm doing the first two turns as you, but then I stay right on the grass all the way around the long corner - this does give a compromise at the top of the hill though.

In general, I find I'm losing massive amounts of time in the left turn before the last hairpin in T2 and also the first left at the beginning of T2.

The last turn in T3 is all about staying away from the gravel based on what I've seen, but then it's difficult to know who's right until next Tuesday :sly: That's some particularly slippery slippy stuff down there!

It's easy to lose a massive amount of time at any corner just be being too aggressive, or getting off line on this track. Couple this with the somewhat random placement of the invisi-walls I imagine that there will be some big swings in the board as the week goes on, and even once the results come out.

At the same time, I'm sure Dan and Zoky will be at the top, Lefty will be right there, and you too - go and get that D2 win 👍

First splits tonight and I have to say this one is my least favorite combo so far. FFB is pretty much useless aside from trying aid in the premature death of my DFGT so relearning to drive with it off completely has been a bit of a challenge. It's going to take some work to get the T1's down into the mid 35's like some of you guys are putting down though, best I've seen are some 36.2's. Been feeling under the weather for a few days though so I'll probably be giving this one a rest for a few days.

My splits,
T1: 36.430
T2: 43.901

Ok, here are my splits from my first session the other day.

36.787
45.005

I will be trying to beat these but I am not sure if I'll be able too.:indiff:

LOL, didn't you say that last week Ash, and then BANG - D3 win by 4 tenths and 13th overall :scared:

I don't know, possibly. Last week if I didn't nail that lap, I still had a few other laps that would have won the division anyway as it turned out. This week is a tougher task for sure.:)

Thanks. Always liked rally events. Had been running regularly .3 slower than my posted T2 and then I surprised myself with how quick I managed on that lap. Think it came from being really tight to first left in sector, replay looks about a foot or two from the barrier all the way round and maintaining good speed (30 mph+) and from the second left, holding off the power till I could climb the hill in the middle of the track and not slide wide to the right scrabbling for grip.

how much i hate sliding around
well i would have to learn rally driving sometime

T1: 38.175
T2: 47.680

That was some progress

T1: 38.439
T2: 46.795

Edit: half a second away from Shigegaki, thats not bad at all...

I have seen better in both sectors.. But this course is so hard to put it all together.(I have seen .4 better in T1, .2 better in T2)

Just had a spare half hour this afternoon so had a go at this with my wheel unplugged (no FFB) - feels weird but wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I'm still way off the pace but, interestingly, knocked 15 seconds off my previous best time (which was utter poo) when I first did the Grand Tour.

Maybe all is not lost after all.... :)

 Appreciate the compliment mate. Put it this way... I hadn't even managed a bronze trophy before today...
