Yeah, the IS-F has lots of gears, but I only use 7. 8th gear is really pushing it. Even with low downforce the car won't get times close to the other cars. The car only has 285hp, the EVO has 40 more hp, and the IS-F is the heaviest car. It has the most downforce, but that's only good for tight tracks. I'll have to keep in the draft to compete.

You will sacrifice a good run on the open tracks to get the fast pace on the tighter courses, which is why anyone would choose the IS-F. If you wanted a good all around car, you would have stayed in the CR-Z. It's just how the system works.

That's why I chose the Silvia. It's not the quickest anywhere, but it's pretty good everywhere.

No, I don't like the CR-Z because it's FWD. I like the IS-F because it handles good and it's predictable. I didn't think it'd be limited to 285hp, I thought it'd get a break before the season really starts because as good as it handles, it's really left behind on any straight. It's the heaviest car and has the least power. If anyone would choose the IS-F, why did people give it up? Because they saw the favorable regs for the FWD cars. 👍

The IS-F is quite a tricky car, despite beign the heavier car it really doesn't behave like it. The biggest problem is that those extra 10hp will upset the balance of the series and give that car an unfair advantage.
 
I don't think so. Even with 300hp it's still the slowest in the straights. Just not as slow. If it had 5 more hp it wouldn't be so bad. 290hp I think it'd be able to keep up on the straights with the other cars with draft. It's downforce is helpful, but what tight tracks do we run that have no straights long enough for the higher hp cars to catch up if the IS-F is ahead? I think it's pretty even, but we saw at Nurb it's downforce isn't doing it huge favors. While all the other cars can run lighter than 1140kg and need ballast added, the IS-F's minimum weight is still 45kg higher.

I say award freshseth 5 hp if he's in the heaviest car.
I guess you could also compare the pp value's?
 
It has the highest PP in part because it has the most downforce. But we know the PP system is broken. I'm not the only one who was using the IS-F. TNT was using it as well, and he was nowhere to be found in either of the races.
 
Guys keep in mind that I was the one who tested and ran all cars to design the rules wich are made for the cars to be equal in lap times, trust me I've come to the best compromise to ensure pairity wich means all the cars are pretty even with Monza beign the odd track where drafting is gonna play a huge role.
Now with the cars beign so even it means that if you fall back for whatever reason, you are not simply gonna catch up immediately, smooth and consistent driving is gonna pay big, taking risks and fighting for possition may hurt you and leave you behind. That's true for all cars.
 
We'll see. If the IS-F stays how it is, I don't think it'll compete at most tracks. Ultimate lap times maybe close, but it's slow as hell on the straights, so you get passed there easily. If that time can be made up in the corners is the big question. Maybe somewhere like London or Madrid it will be strong.

If the lap times are close, then the answer is yes. You will be able to keep up with the pack by drafting the hell out of them as well as getting a great run out of the corner, and then you should be able to drive around, over, beside, underneath, and on top of them in the corners. Just keep that momentum up and get a stable and sticky set up. Plus the 8-speed will help you with acceleration.

I trust Jav with his tuning and regulations; it's worked well previously, so why start to doubt him now?

It has decent acceleration, but it weighs 40kg more than any other car. So that doesn't really help it any. And who said I doubted Jav? I doubt the IS-F will keep up in every race. I said Ultimate lap times maybe close, not normal consistent lap times. I can lap pretty consistently, but the fastest times I got @Nurb were with draft help. I can draft somewhat, but they still pull away on longer straights. Monza really sucks but like I said, at most tracks (unless we run tight small tracks consistently) the IS-F gets left behind because of the straights. If you drive it you'll see what I mean. That isn't going to make me change my car though. I just hope we don't do Fuji and Daytona Road every other week!

Thanks for the consideration Jav. At least it won't be just my slow IS-F that benefits, since everyone can have high draft! Going to have to brake very early as to not overshoot the chicanes.
 
Seth you need to either deal with the specs or find a new series.
 
You don't need to chime in with your comments. The IS-F is slow on the straights, that much is clear. I didn't say we HAVE to change the specs, I asked for some consideration. I also said I'd stick with the car regardless. I wasn't aware you were in charge. So maybe you shouldn't act like it.
 
Easy Seth, he is one of the GTPFIA stewards so I'd be a bit more carefull with my choice of words when adressing him...
 
That's cool. I'm just saying I'm not going to quit because the car I chose isn't the fastest. I just want it to be fair. I'm not the only one using it anyway. TNT wasn't doing great with it either, and he started in a decent spot along with me. I just hope were not doing tracks with long straights every other race. Like Spa and Fuji and Daytona back to back would be killer! It was a joke but I guess it didn't come off like that.

Why don't you guys just have a vote for giving him 5 more extra Hp? If he's too poweful in a staright line just trim him back down a bit? I believed its best to have full grids!

Has the Impreza TC's specs been revised as well? I'm asking this because at the last pre-season it was on a class of its own. And unfortunately, the FF only seem to get heavier by the day.
