Ok, second try and a much better looking car I think:

I have a question/concerns as to how stints are gonna work out to be considered an eligible team. I have to work the 31st until 3:30 eastern time, but i'm free game anytime after that. Thought that is something you guys might need to know before hand to so we can work out stints and what not.

I will come up with some type of chart to keep track of our stints, I'll request that Sunday off so I can cover at least a 2-3 night stint or more if need be.
Ideally the stints would be 2-3 hr long, meaning that on your 3rd stop you get out of the car and the next driver steps in. In an ideal world that would give us good time to rest between stints, but we all have a life outside of this so we have to plan and commit to our stints on this chart.

I don't mind driving through the night. I just don't wanna screw things up because i work until 3:30. Just wanna make sure everyone is fine with that and its technically possible in game for us to make it work. I've never done a team race yet. Are we planning on doing the test race this weekend to at least get our feet wet?

It should work no problem, we have 5 drivers now which should be plenty so we don't have to make crazy sacrifices to make it. I think the test race is a very good idea, however I can not commit to more than 1 stint for that race. Anyhow, even if we don't complete the race it would be pretty good if we all do 1 stint.
You could use the gtplanet racing logos that are somewhere in the Iracing skins thread here.
I'll take a look, but my skin is not the official one, Smuffy is making one of his awesome skins for us maybe he can take a look as well.

I'm up for that. I'm an early riser so i can do the first at 8am if everyone wants to sleep in a little bit. lol. I actually have off this Saturday for a change.

I work 9:30-3:30PM that day so I can take any stint after 5:00PM US EST.

I'm down for doing the practice race next weekend. One thing I just remembered since I talked to Jersey about it on team speak last night is that I have family coming until town next Saturday so I wont be able to do any driving from 12 to about 7 pm that night. I would assume if it anything like the previous 2.4's that the race likely wont start until 2-3 pm so Im good to drive after 7 ish for however long if a guy or two here can start the race.

As far as the real race goes I can drive whenever. We need to see if we can stagger it to where the fastest guy is maybe starting and finishing. To the other guys racing with us Im not sure if you were around last night but send me a friend request and pm on iracing and I can send you the setup Ive been using. Like I was telling Jav last night I'm not trying to practice and tweak the setup to much until we know the weather setting for the practice and real race. I know on ovals the weather change makes a big difference to setups and lap time so would like to get the weather we are going to be racing in before I start to put big amounts of time into it. Also need to see how the qualifying works and if it just takes our fastest time overall between us or if only one of us can qualify. I never really put much time or effort in qualifying setups to be honest I'm always about race pace especially for a 24 hr race. Another thing about the practice race it is official so iR and SR will be in effect so need to keep that in mind.

All 5 of us where on the practice session last night Jason.
Another thing I want to bring up is that we also need to try the other cars as well, I know the Ford GT is badly missbehaving on Turn 1 and I don't want to know what that's gonna be like 2.5hrs into a 3hr stint. I'd like to have a car that's not gonna consume all my brain power(which is limmited BTW :-p) in just keeping the car straight.
I did a long run last night after the practice session we all joined and while the car felt good, anything but the perfect entry to T-1 resulted in either me dancing on the pedals or a nice sideways moment...

I just tried the BMW and while not yet as fast on it T-1 is a much more relaxed and easy adventure.

The McLaren I really have not tried on this weather but last week had a league race with it and the car is solid everywhere, easier to drive than any of the other cars.

The Ruf... Well the Ruf I just can't get myself to hop on and try because street car... But I do get the feeling it'll be the best of the bunch.

The HPD, the one we really haven't talked about at all. How do you guys feel about it?

We should get the servers up tonight for the Roar's practice, maybe the weather will be much more favorable and the track will have some grip in it!

Looks like it's default weather, unless they're just not changing the series info until the week switches over.

78*F
55 R/H
N @ 2MPH
Partly Cloudy

That is completely different from the weather of the practice session from last night.

So... Unless it's at night grip will be even less...?

I'm running about the same times in any of the cars. And to be honest I always feel like I'm skating the car no matter what car it is. I have no objections to any car. I'm just in it for a good time.

I vote FGT. If I back off I find turn 1 isn't an issue, and I would feel comfortable over a long stint. I'm faster with the Ruf, but it's a lot more difficult to drive. It would be (IMO) too much work for a 24 hour race. Plus, my 2.4 last year ended with my Ruf on it's roof...

If you even look at the curbs in the McLaren it spins, so I'm against it. Don't have the BMW or the HPD, so can't pass judgment on either of them.

On a side note, times for the Roar are much slower than in the GT3 Sessions, I'm running high 46's/ low 47's, as opposed to 45's and 46's in the previous session.

If you guys want to go with the bmw we can try that out but I still think the ford is the way to go here. I only ran 10 laps or so in the bmw and I was 3-4 tenths off of the ford so with more practice and tweaking I could most likely make up that bit of difference. I'm also down for the hpd if you guys wanted to go that route as like I said earlier in the thread I have the most experience in that car of all the cars racing but I'm just as fine racing the ford or bmw possibly. Turn 1 is kinda sketchy once the tires get some wear on them no matter what car really. One thing Ive been doing on the ford is about 5 laps or so into the run I start to adjust the tc and brake bias.

With the higher temps yes it should have slighty less grip and it seems so if the times are a bit slower. I didn't have time to get on any tonight but I'm going to practice some tomorrow with the new weather.

I was able to take the scary out of T-1 in the setup last night, doing consistent 45s with a 45.0xx on the draft on a less than perfect lap. I'll be on track tonight as well!

A question regarding the paint. When does it need to be completed by, as until Friday (16th) most of my time will be taken up by college and work for college.

I'll be on tonight if anyone is up for some practice/testing. I wanna be at least into the 44's before race day consistently.

Yeah I'll be on tonight as well. I feel the same way just curious to how the weather is going to affect things.

Is this in the ford or bmw? If you would pm me the setup on iracing so I can give it a try later. I still need to try out mine in the new weather.

The practice race is this weekend but the real 24hr race isn't until the 31st so long as its by then should be ok. It would be cool to have it but the practice race this weekend but I understand how long that stuff takes so not a big deal if we don't have it for the practice race.

Speaking of the practice I saw that the start time for the practice race is Saturday at 8:30 am. That might put us in a pinch depending on everyone else's schedule. Like I said in an earlier post that I wont be able to run any from 12 to about 7 that night. Im not exactly a morning person but if I have to I can get up and run the first stint for about 3 hours so 8:30 to 11:30, but I wont be able to run anymore until about 7:30 that evening. Figured Id go ahead and throw that out there so we can try and figure something out before the weekend.

I'm off all day Saturday so it's whatever as long as my wife isn't bitching lol. I'll be on around 8. I guess we can discuss things later on tonight.

are you in a practice @Jav For some reason i'm not showing the wheel symbol next to your name down the bottom. Its all greyed out and doesn't look right.

edit- nm now its showing correctly.

🤬! I just can't get the bus-stop right, no matter what I do. May have to back out of this, I'd be more hurt than help at the moment.

Just coast trough it in 4th, let the car do the work and use the curbs to hook you in lineonce you know you're pointed the right way on exit gun it!

Thanks, I'll give it another go tomorrow. I'm really frustrated right now, I'm slower than I was yesterday and yet I'm also making more mistakes. I'm mired in the 47's, and just can't get any sort or consistent lapping going.

I love the idea of teams and racing as a team but fairplay to you guys I dont think I would have the commitment to do it and id hate to get 23 hours into a 24 hour race and bin it or worse bin it and take others out with me

I'd rather it happen in the 23rd hour then in the 1st.

Keep in mind that the event's weather makes for a much much slower lap tien than what we where doing on the GT3 servers.
