The SOLE reason why I got into Porsche collecting (and fandom!)

That Blackbird is going to be one of my next 1/18's. expect me to get it in the next few weeks...
Also my last model that I will be getting while I live here in Louisiana arrived...

Finally decided that I'm going to start a 1:18 scale custom. It's not going to be an extensive custom, just mods to the wheel arches, ride height, an interior spruce up and body respray. Won't be doing any engine mods or detailing to that extent.

The subject will be a Datsun 240Z. Bought a 'Road signature' (exactly the same as the 'Maisto' cast) version, many years ago (iirc paid £20 for it at the time). It's a bit crap but the price was low and you get what you pay for..

It did look a little like this (although mine has a different livery):

Although mine has a 'BRE' knock-off livery, it still came with the same wheels, bumpers and fog lights as the version above.

Anyway, swapped out the wheels, for some off a cheap 2nd hand acquisition ('BBurago Ferrari 348') and purchased some machine screws to fix them to the hubs. Added some bluetac to get a rough idea of what I want to do.

As can be seen, it sits really high ATM but I've worked out how I'm going to lower it. I'm going to be cutting away at all the arches and making the front ones opening a bit wider (probably 5mm), to allow for a slightly better wheel turn. Due to the offset, the front wheels barely turn at the mo. :grumpy:

I'd like to keep the 'BRE' style colour-way, so once all the bodywork's done, I'll mask off the areas and try and replicate it. Here's a really quick crappy photoshop of how I'd like the car to sit:

That's all I've done so far and it will probably take me an age to complete, but I'll keep this thread posted on how it's turning out.

BTW @AOS- How's it going with your custom RX-7? Any updates as yet?

Dude, your pic never works for me. Are you copying the image's URL? I don't see a .jpg or .png in that link.

Maybe you have a bad internet connection or it might be slow or you're web browser could be out of date.

I can see it on my mobile phone.

I got my 1997 version 1/18 AutoArt Ivan "Ironman" Stewart diecast from Canada today. Sorry but I only took one picture and it's not the greatest and I took the hood off to send it to Ivan Stewart to sign in a separate package. More to come eventually.

I told you all I'd post pictures of the AutoArt 1:18 Ivan ''Ironman'' Stewart Trophy truck when I got it. One of the decals on the right rear fender is coming off but the seller told me about that. It is close to 20 years old but been in the box since new.

***UPDATE***

Ivan Stewart signed the hoods on both diecasts and an 8 x 10 and mailed them back to me as him and I discussed. He held up his end of the deal. Very cool of him and I will never forget this. Truly a class act.

Welp.... they were willing to show off that engine...

CK has the AA Alfa 155 DTM for sale, 99 euros before discounts(75 with everything applied), it can't get any cheaper so don't wait folks. (I have already grabbed one)

GT Spirit posted this. Mines in there somewhere! Looking forward to this one, I'm glad to see they aren't too dark blue, like their 964 Turbo, which was so dark blue is may as well be black. Just so happens to be my favorite car of all time, in this very color with the gold wheels. :dopey:

AOS san, that P1 GTR is made by Almost Real, the AUTOart one doesn't have any access to the engine bay.

Depending on the price and whether they have the Geneva livery, I'd almost really want to get that then.

If it wasnt for the fact that I just bought $500-ish worth in R/C stuff in the past 2 days, along with the fact that I am moving, I would have bought one -__-

Me dropping a hobby is about like telling a crackhead to stop doing crack ;)
At best, I can temporarily "suspend" a hobby, which is what I did for a couple. But right now, I have passed the point of no return with R/C, just like I did with 1/18's 15 years ago. And then of course Gundams will always be with me. And videogames.
I have problems...

I first followed Gundam about 30 years ago, didn't stop buying gunpla until I decided to stop in 2005(it was a 1/100 Astray Gold Frame Amatsu) and I haven't bought any of it ever since. So yea, it can be done.

Gundam model kits was a dream hobby I had when I was a kid, but I eventually let go of it once I disconnected from the Gundam series.

I also went through beyblades, yugioh cards, tiny RC cars.... and right meow I'm working
on getting out of 1/64s. I've dumped tons of money into that one, but there's totally no way it's "impossible" to stop.

Can't be done if you don't have the desire to do so ;)
Although, of my current hobbies, Gundam probably will be the only one to stop or greatly slow down as I get models of all the units I want.
But anyway if that Alfa is still around for that price after I move, I will get it and the Blackbird 911. Also been thinking of getting the AA Jag D-Type LM winner.
