Missing one of the mirrors so I left it alone, but boy, it was tempting.

Hello again, here's some more progress I'd like to report:

Making the front bumper's bottom edge all smooth was becoming too difficult for me. Somehow I ended up shaving off more putty on the sides than the facade, so I now have this slope to cope with. Getting those grills to be symmetrical is also challenging for me.

Having to go back and forth on applying and removing putty, I decided to try the polyestor putty instead, hoping that would be easier to work with. Seems it's just as troublesome because it loves to stick to itself and doesn't spread like butter. @Nessy, does Milliput clump like the yellow stuff you see in the following photo?

So I stuck that piece of acrylic underneath. Now I have a flat surface to work off. I'll start by marking off the center point, and maybe other points to help keep symmetry when I get to making the rest of the splitter.

Other than straightening out the bottom edge, I think I can settle on this middle-ground height. It creates a much lower stance than stock, but it's not millimeters from the floor.

Slow progress, but since the skirt was short on both sides (or wasn't a straight edge parallel to the ground), I needed to add more material to fix that. So with the help of tape, I got putty to cling onto a thin sliver of material:

Why I continued to use the polyestor instead of resuming the epoxy putty is beyond me. But basically what I need to do now is sand down the sides (again) and make sure the bottom edge is straight and parallel to the ground.


I actually had done some work to the front but didn't grab a pic of it. Sorry!

It seems that I'm feeling productive. It has been a month since the last report. While I working on the skirts, I thought I'd may as well share what the front grills are look for the time being.

The sharp corners will be filled in and the grill shapes will be smoothened out to be just a tad more organic. FYI that front lip is not final. The lip curving upward will stay as a contour, but the lip you see there is actually going to be the parallel to the side skirts. Or at least I'll try to make it so.

Cleaned up the batter that is the crusty putty I laid out last time. I think I'm going to settle on this ground clearance now. What's left to do here is to draw out the shape of the extruded form which will be basically be like adding crown moulding.

At the end I've decided to buy a bunch of classic Le Mans Prototypes from the 90s

Apart from this beauty, NEW for 160€ (it has even a little 1:18 helmet!)

I got, all of those, brand new and 1:18:
AUTOart Toyota GT One #1 Zent 1999 for 175€ (I sniped the #3 Esso but it was used and the price was almost the same)
Hot Wheels Elite Ferrari F333 SP #11 Doyle-Risi Racing 1999 for 66,5€ (there was also the famous MOMO liveried one but with less details and dirty finish...liked this green-white-red combo the most...it's pretty much our tricolore of our national flag)
Kyosho BMW LMR V12 #15 1999 for 67€ (too bad I've catched the unopenable version, still a great price for this model)
Norev Peugeot 905 #1 1993 for 55,5€ (a bit much IMO but it looks good enough to match the Spark version considering the huge gap of the price).
last 3 from the same seller and except for the 905 I've got the best price around eBay (same goes for the 787B since once I've bough mine the guy instantly sold the last model on sale LOL).

Next will probably be the 956C NewMan from Minichamps or join the dark side and go for some Spark (haven't touched those because resin, quite high costs and no openable parts).
As far as I know other openable die casts 1:18 Group C are exotos...but the price...it's a LOT...the 787B was going to be a Jag XJR-9 Exoto but the seller stinks...crappy photo, low price (200€) and well he does not want to send me more photos of the model.

1:43 yes. The raised stand it sits on reminds me of my other kyosho models even though there is no kyosho branding. its not ebbro even though NISMO uses them for some other models as I have a N attack GTR test car in the same box that is Ebbro

yeah its just of a Chinese business that looks to do OEM manufacturer marketing so its possible they contract out a model maker

I started collecting 1:18's at the beginning of 2014, after collecting only 1:64 and 1:43, my First 1:18 was that nissan R35, now in 2015, my collection is finally outgrowing the space :)

Taking a wild guess I'd say you are buying about 1 & 1/2 1:18 cars per month.
In ten years you'll have almost 200 cars. In fifty almost 1000.

You're going to have to find some more space.

Something like that, the only real recent editions for this year so far were the

Aa Honda S2000, Subaru WRX, Toyota MRS, Toyota Celica, Porsche 911 carrera S(yellow)

Kyosho Nissan skyline R32 GTR.

UT Mclaren F1, porsche 911 Coupe (Red) Porsche 911 targa(Red)

Maisto Ferrari F50 and Chevorlet corvette Z51 C7.

I plan to add 30 more 1:18 models by the end of this year.

As for 1:43, I have completely run out of room for any more models in my 80 space cabinet, to the point i've had to put some models on top/ in the closet.

Quick preview, the first one has finally reached my home, the model looks great but it has the same problem as the Ferrari 641/2, there are some missing microscopic paint chips near the left door joint, probably scrapped out when the door was mounted on the car, it's almost unnoticeable and from some angles you can't even spot them but I can't take my eyes away from it :scared:
 
I took this car off the stand/base for the first time today.

I knew the car was limited to 6,000 & there was a card that came with the car stating that, but the first thing I noticed when I unscrewed the car off the base was this:

Damm Venom, that's a set of amazing models right there. I can't believe that there is already a SCG-003 scale model, I really want to see that one in (more pictures). The E500 also looks interesting, and the Viper has a very good color combo (I'm a sucker for that blue w/blue stripes), not to mention that its quality seems to be quite well detailed. Can't wait to see your pics of all those models...
 
Some of you might be interested in this. It's a promotional piece though, so might not be easy to find and certainly not in stores.
