Cost of living in BC isn't very affordable as I've heard. It's really hard to compete against flat rate shipping. I'd love to support a local store like ToMo more if they actually had more stuff I'd like to own.

How can we connect with this BC dealer anyhow? Does he have a site?

Just wondering, has anyone had any experience with ordering from ck-modelcars.de? Good packaging, models not damaged etc?

Like others have said, I've ordered from them multiple times and I've never had an issue with anything, it was always well packed.
 
I thought I'd post this here too. I made a copy of my Autoart A-ha Racing GT3 Carrera Cup from the 2004 Asian Championship and put it into GT Sport.

I have an Autoart model of the 2004 Porsche Infineon Carrera Cup Asia winner. It is the Aha racing (Coffee, not Norwegian band) GT3 Cup as driven by Matthew Marsh.

The main issue is that most of the logos do not exist on the web for me to copy and vectorise, so I had to improvise. I took loads of photos of it and loaded them up into paint.net. I cut round the logos and used a combination of Vectoremagic and Inkscape to make them into vectors. I even managed to get a gradient fill in there which I was really chuffed about.

I think this is my favourite livery because of the amount of work that went into the logos.

Oh it's the guy I conversed with on eBay. I see.

I also forgot about modelcarscanada. I'm in the exact same city as them. Really dislike his website, prices and model selection though.


Can't say I find it easy to support these guys, seeing as how it's cost me more than it would be to buy it internationally, never mind the taxes.



Edit: On Ignition's official site, they are offering free shipping to China, Macau, Taiwan, and HK. They are offering 50% off shipping everywhere else, which I found out is $40USD.

Based off my shopping experience from eBayers in HK, an IG model can cost as low as $55 CAD for shipping, so I'm not buying into this "50% off" deal. I almost bit the bullet though.

The dude told me the reasons behind the high prices are due to exchange rates (He claimed GT Spirit only do business with them in USD)and taxes.

Later he added that CK is so damn huge (again the Walmart reference)that they buy a huge bulk of stock from GTS and Otto that's why they can keep the prices so low and their competition simply can't keep that up.

Once a monopoly is established, it's difficult to beat them at their own game. I'm sure there's a way to counteract the effects, but I'm not adverse in the world of business to know how that's done. Maybe we'll just willingly pay the extra dollars to support them instead of CK? Sounds dumb, but I don't know what else works.
 
My brother overheard me wanting the Kyosho GS F. So he ended up getting me one as an early birthday gift from AmiAmi. Unfortunately, it arrived with the taillight cover off.

How good is Amiami with situations like this?
 
I want to bet on the fact it popped off due to the cold.

I sent a resin model to a neighbouring province in December and the guy reported many thin parts had broken off.

You can probably just glue that back with some clear cement. Just don't use superglue, no matter how tempting it will seem.

I'd imagine super glue would make a mess and ruin the model. Any specific brand I should look for?
 
Tamiya.

I have a bottle of Extra Thin Cement, but that may not be the best idea for this now that I think about it. Maybe a very small dab of something thicker and viscous than thin cement will be ideal.

I definitely want that plain 964 RSR, but I really wish they used the OEM wheels rather than those generic wheels they've used on many other models. They're not terrible, but they don't really look right and the color seems off.

Yeah I can see the difference after posting that photo now.

I can confirm it is a generic BBS-style whee they use on all their models. I had a 964 with the exact wheels. Oh well.

Is that the Castrol TOM's Supra? It looks more like the DENSO Sard Supra that raced at Le Mans.

In that case, one could get this, the TSM NSX and GT-R, and you'd have three of the most iconic Gran Turismo racing cars...
 
I don't know. It's worth noting that Top Marques has a record for getting features wrong.

I looked up 1995 Tom's Supra and found the following:

Some blogger cut & pasted some block of text from Tamiya's website, mentioning 1995.
Everything checks out (from what I can see).

Everything else I find is like the first example, all but the mirror location. You can see I am an academic with car history.
 
Those guys(TM, LS) never figured out how to get the proportion correctly on most of their models, that's why they hired a couple of guys from the DX forum to fix that up for the upcoming releases. Finger crossed...

Anyway, I found another BC seller on ebay, goes by the name of YomaCarModel. Has his (I'm assuming it's a guy) own site where he has markdowns not seen on their eBay store. Prices otherwise are same throughout. Don't know if he does flat-rate, but I joined their mailing list. Selection is pretty decent; it's more up my alley than ToMo.


Edit: made a test transaction. 2 cars to my place is $28.xx, while adding a 3rd is $29.xx. Adding a 4th is $32.9x...... This was all done with GT-S/Otto models.
