Can someone help me find this car or something like it? I was reading a small journal that I wrote for my class in about 2nd or 3rd grade and I mentioned how I got a "Japan car" in it. It turns out that car was a dark purple Lancer Evolution diecast drift car. It had a hood and trunk that could open up. Could someone find something like it? Also, I got it in Chicago but anything like it will be awesome!

Edit: The car was pre-maid.
 
Went to the flea market today. (Indoor and weekends only...in the morning) Didn't find too much. But did get this rather beat up Jada Evo VI. Tape on it says it's $3 but managed to get a dollar off for the loose windshield and missing spoiler.

Can't say I'm a fan of the wheels or body kit that much, but hey, when has there really been an Evo VI model officially sold in the US? Also came across a Kinsmart 1:36 scale BMW X6 (which I somehow feel oddly tempted to purchase) as well as an FJ Cruiser from Kinsmart. Both for $2.

Finally, thought I'd stop by the local grocery store that commonly sells Kinsmart diecast cars and finally found the Gumpert Apollo and Raptor!

Excellent photos! The Exige looks really good, makes me want one.

Ottomobile recently released the E34 M5 in Avus Blue over Dove. Last year they released the same car in Techno Violet over Black, which I own already. Should I get the Avus Blue color as well?

Once owned 13 different Ferrari Enzos (red/black wheels, red/ silver wheels, dark red/black wheels, dark red/silver wheels, yellow/black wheels, yellow/silver wheels, black/black wheels, black/silver wheels, white/black wheels, white/silver wheels, grey/black wheels, grey/silver wheels, grey(Italian flag striping up the middle)/black wheels.) all 1:18s from my local supermarket. Doors and engine bays opened, wheels held on by magnets.

Decent quality, one which I have down in my bedroom (grey(Italian flag)/ black) has paint faded, some chips to the paint around the doors, the tyres (real rubber) have 'blistered' a bit. Think it's on track for a restoration.

More like an amateur photographer... :scared: Just doing photos for drift events for a local group. I've been looking into doing some photography with my own models but haven't gotten around to it. Especially creating some kind of booth for them. (Plus my models are nothing in comparison to your models and photos :p) Also that post was just with a point & shoot for a quick upload to GTPlanet. Have yet to try some proper shots with my Nikon D5100. Any tips on creating a good booth for scale models as well as taking the photo?

I've mostly done real life cars...but that's about it. A couple of examples (Unedited versions taken off of FB):

Was tempted to pick up a white one. But didn't... Also I believe they sold 1/24 911 GT3 (997) models at Rite Aid a while back. Regret not picking it up...because I've grown to really like the 911 now.

posts 68, 97 and 101 as a few examples. Lately Ive just used a large piece of paper to create a seamless background, similar to the "skubb" post and used 2 flashes with silver umbrellas. See pics 2&3 Lotus exige above. I nowadays take multiple photos and merge them to get back to front sharpness. (Focus stacking). It's a fair amount of of work to get one photo done as for each one of the Exige photos I take between 5-11 photos.

If you don't have fancy flash then get yourself 2 daylight corrected bulbs and screw these in to fittings. Ikea would most likely have something cheap like the lamps in this pic.

Don't waste money on one of these contraptions though, they are expensive and not big enough. 40/40/40cm
You need a minimum of 60cm wide.

Ensure that your subject falls within "this area"

IF you have a separate light meter use it to measure light and switch camera to manual and dial in Aperture & Time to get consistent exposures. If not enough light put one more light above the skubb.

@AMG. I'll be sure to look into it, although we don't have an IKEA here in Maine. I remember asking AOS about some tips of creating my own background and since I don't really have an IKEA, I suppose I could try using something like a shoebox of sorts? I'm far from a crafty person, but luckily enough I still have several supplies my mom brought home from her work that I could use. Also...as another option, how would a large pane of black glass do as the base? Like doing one with a reflection on the bottom. Remembered that my dad had taken apart the old glass kitchen table when renovating the kitchen and still have the pieces of it laying around.

Considering that most of my 1:18s are low budget Maisto's, I'll probably look into trying out my 1:24s (Mainly the Welly models). Actually just remembered that I had one UT Models 993 as well.

Also came across this small Dynex mini tripod that I could possibly use.

Edit2: The glass is 28.5"x15" They're not broken like they look since it's the reflection of the bed.

This is how I used to do it -since then I use umbrellas on the flashes and 'endless' paper 1.8m wide.
Principle is remains the same though.

Dust is your enemy especially on black reflective materials - be prepared to do a lot of PP dust removal :(

As for the background you really want a seamless BG. In your last pic you'll get a black brown horizon cutting right through your model and thats ugly. Also be prepared to get to eye level with your model for most of the pics.

Despite cleaning / brushing and air blowing models before a shoot it is incredible the amount of dust etc that I can't see with naked eye but the camera can. So be prepared to do a lot of PP. The Exige looks spotless with naked eye but when photographed it looked like someone had shot hail in to the model. white spots galore.

Get yourself white black and gray paper approx 1-1.5m wide and preferably a couple of metres long so you can cut 'worn' section off. Use a broom to suspend the roll of paper.


Wrt #2 yeah probably but others reading this may benefit from the above even though it's a bit OT.
I'm sure they'll forgive us.

I figured that dust would easily show up in the photo, as well as the model. I'll be sure to try using paper instead. As this is what I came up with a...rather poorly done quick trial. With the board, glass, and LED flashlight.

At the point he took it to, I would've passed it off as a render than a heavily-edited photograph. There are so many elements about his photos that just don't look like a photo anymore.
