I'm still in buy growing more scared with every day at work as it seems they are playing various covers more and more frequently, it's only a matter of time before the original plays.:nervous:

Not that I'm trying to influence the competition, but shouldn't there be a closing date for entries? I think it's a little unfair for those who have been playing for weeks and have managed to avoid getting whammed to have to go up against someone who may not have been paying attention and already heard Wham but forgotten.

Like I say, I'm not trying to influence the competition, but there should be some closing date. I'll respect whatever the thread creator decides.

I've had this thought a few times too. Someone who joins in mid December and makes it is more proud than the one who came in at the start of November and got Whammed on the 24th December.
 
Extremely close shave yesterday...

Went round my friends, and we were in the kitchen... I hear it. It is on the TV. I nearly break down into tears, when I saw it. IT WAS A COVER FROM JOE MCWHATEVER.

That was the single biggest sigh of relief I have ever let out.
 
I didn't get Whammed last year, and I'm not going to again this year:D
 
Double Whamming there. The new advert for Downton Abbey (of all places) uses a cover of it! I'm already out, so this is just a warning for you. ;)

No more new joiners, but if someone gets Whammed! then I'll put them on the Eliminations list, just not the Participators list 👍.

 
Insane to look at the list of participants on the first page and see how many people are gone. It's like a virus outbreak :lol:

If I can get through this weekend, I should be fine. I'm going to the mall tomorrow, and if I don't get Whammed there I should be home free. I never have the radio on at home, and if I listen to the radio in the car I'm making sure it's either the top 40 station or a classic rock station, so I won't get whammed in the car.

Indeed. I don't know about most people here, but I know that most people here have been taking drastic precautions to avoid it. Some people have been a little more brave and that's their choice to make.

I intend on getting as far as I can without hearing the song, so it would be annoying if someone was to sign up for the competition on, say, the 20th, then gloat because they "won".

As it happens, I went out for a few drinks with some friends. They'd picked a wetherspoons, which was good news for me.

Wetherspoons = crap atmosphere + Cheap(ish) drinks - music. In these circumstances, the lack of music was a positive.

Headphones on in the store, count out the correct money in the line and get out of the store asap. It's fairly straightforward.
 
Well, I've been Whammed! 2 more times in the car, and once at a Starbucks in a rest stop, (Awful coffee, by the way :ill: ) for a total of 4 Whams!
 
I get whammed multiple times a day at work. And on top of that we play three different versions of Last Christmas in addition to the original Wham version.
 
I am not Whammed yet but I have a question. In case the song plays, then would I get whammed if I place my earbuds on my ears right away, listening to my usual techno-house-electro music? Or will my personal playlist save me?

And before anyone asks, no instance of that occured yet. I'm still in the safe zone.

What do you mean by a 👎? Or do you mean that even though I tried to play my music, I'd still get whammed if I hear the song at all?
 
Yes cause you will hear the tune before you get a chance to react and place ear buds on.

Thus whammed.

It is not like you get whammed when you hear the words "Last Christmas I gave you my heart" then you get whammed.

3-4 days ago me and 4 other students went to a Mathematics competition against schools from our district. Funny enough we had to squeeze in our Algebra 1 Honor teacher's car :crazy: It was a van so it was able to hold all of us, but we had to use every space possible. They were also 7th and 6th graders in their math teacher's cars as well, and I'm sure they have to squeeze in also.

Once the chauffeur drove off, a Christmas station sprang to life in the stereos, then I was getting very nervous. Fortunately the song did not play the way there, the way to lunch (McDonalds lol), and the way back to school at 5th period.
 
so far not been whammed! It's all good... even while listenin to Gem106... But I will get whammed soon, I know it...
 
I've just been whammed. In a break while watching Elf an advert for christmas disk came on, I was about to leave the room and BAM! Good luck to everyone else
