Any US version coming out? Or is it already out?

read the link I posted yesterday, the world wide (and US version I believe) release date is mentioned there!!!!!!!

This game is better than GT4. No doubt about it.

The only thing is, since the DFP's brake pedal is so ****ty, I have to run with ABS on low. I feel a little cheap, but it makes the game much less frustrating.

I can't believe the graphics of it. They're just amazing.

I've got the German version, the translations aren't great :indiff:

You mean the translation patch?

When does the normal "english" version come out. Because I'm a bit confused by the German version already released.

I compared GTR with GT4 in terms of track(s) and car(s).
Downloaded myself the Laguna Seca track for GTR,
got myself a Viper and a Lister. Did some laps with it
(standard game settings). Did the same thing with GT4,
with the Viper and the Lister on the Laguna Seca track.
Guess what, the laps times where almost the same in both sims.
Although, I find it very difficult to get the same lap times in
GTR as in GT4. GTR feels, with the emphasis on
feels, more realistic than GT4.
GT4 is quite realistic, but it is no match for GTR. Love both sims though 👍
My personal opinion. Wait untill PS3 comes out. Wait a few more year (we are used to it by now) for GT5 to come out and it will be a revelation. The PS2 is way too old to feature a realistic GT4. PD has to compromise. F.e.: the glowing brake disks are replaced for backfire. No skidmarks, no damage (techical and structural), car are not designed in 6 DoF's, can't crash your car, stupid AI, no donuts possible etc...
I think, these things will be possible with GT5 ==> PS3. But then again, There will be even more realistic sims on PC and even better hardware. I hope the guy from Simbin continue to develop realistic sims.

I'm really thinking of buying GTR :D
If we ever get it here in North America.
I know GTr is great but I'm not the kind of person to pay an inflated price to get a German version ordered from Europe.
The only item I ever purchased on the web from Europe is ... my Guinness cap.

oh man i want this game, and i would get it, if my computer was a bit better.
can someone tell me the reccomended specs for the european version please.

one quick question while im here, i see many of you talking about using the DFP on it, is this the same DFP that you use for GT4?

You should be able check the site for minimum specs. (unless their not posted yet)

It really depends, my 2.8ghz, 1gb ram, ati 9600 256XT can play it no problem (has no trouble with 40+ cars on a track)

With low graphic settings and only a few cars on a track a normal pc should have no problem. You could always download the demo and see how that runs.

i downloaded and ran the demo last night like you sed and, errm, hmm, i think i need a new PC, mine is below normal,

i have a few quick questions i hope somone can answer.

1) Do the cars accumulate dirt as the race goes on?
2) In the Spa 24 hour race, does it change from day to night?
3) Do you get too drive the formation lap?
4) How realistic is the AI?
5) How realistic is the whole thing?
6) How long are the races?
7) Is it worth buying a new computer for?

thanks

"Windows 98/ME/2000/XP Processor: 1,2 GHZ Memory: 256 MB Hard drive: 1 GB free space CD/DVD Drive: 4x 3D accelerator, sound card, game controller: Direct X 8.1 compliant "
Hope this helps :D

1) yes, the track also gets dirty/slippery spots during a race (Damage looks very good to, tons of detail under the hood)
2) of course!
3)Yep, you get to drive a formation lap
4)the AI are top notch
5)I close my eyes and pray before slamming into a wall at 200
6) I've only done racing weekends in the full version, not the championship...not sure
7) Besides the fact that its always worth buying a better computer, being able to play GTR is a major plus! (don't forget a good force feedback wheel!)

YES! It is!

The only downside is the steep learning curve on GTR.

some games need a steep learning curve.

thanks DJM for answering my questions, this sounds fantastic.

new cpmputer and DFP here i come.

Hmm....

just good enough laptop... check
DF... check
Money... bugger

:grumpy: I will have it sounds pretty kick ass...

BTW, I have tried the demo and it was really really hard to drive but has that changed since it's release?? :scared:

has anyone esle downloaded the video trailer for the 24 hour spa race expansion pack, it looks absolutely stunning, 5 new car models, amazing lighting, and i have to say, th night driving looks scary, very dark with only the tail lights of the car ahead and floodlights on the turns, scary. this games kicks ass.

Integra Type R
 It's amazing how much of a difference there is from using the keyboard and a controller!

Try a DF then! :eek::drool:

I want this game now! Damn it!

Question... sometimes there's a brief hesitation to the game. Is this because it's a demo and not the final version?? :scared:

The specs for my laptop are... 2.0 GHz P4, 512 MB DDR DRAM, 30 GB Hard Disk, Windows XP Home, ATI MOBILITY RADEON (M6P AGP-4X 3D) 32 MB(shared?)

This is good enough right? or is it my damn Vid card. 👎:grumpy:

well.. for GTr to run smoothly with maxed out graphics I'd reccomend

Athlon XP 2500+ or Pentium 4 at 2.5ghz
512 mb 3200 ddr ram
Radeon 9800 Pro or XT
and a decent soundcard
and of course at least a DSL connection

I only have a 9600 XT 256mb, so I play the game at a bit less than maxxed out settings. i dont use AA or AF either.

What about GT Legends, FIA-GTC (historical GT) championship? The new sim from Simbin. i rread something about it on another forum. Old cars on new modern tracks.
Got some photo's from this forum. Hope that I'm not doing something wrong by posting these photo's here.

link for the official FIA historic racing: http://www.fia-historic-racing.com/
cars and tracks that will probably make it in GT Legends
