Oh, so this is just getting off the ground?

That is what I read, yes. It will be released in or after the summer. At the end of this year there will be also a GTR2 version.
GT Legends will be developed with Gmotor2-engine, with some Simbin tweaks. Don't know what that is but has something to do with ISI and rfactor.

WEll, after running the demo for a few days, I decided to order the real deal (UK version) from an Ebay source.
GT4 is a game.
GTR is not a game.

Sure, GT4 has a bunch of tracks and ~700 cars. But IMO GTR trumps this by giving full access to all tracks and all cars right from the get go.
YOu wanna jump in a Saleen S-7R as soon as you start playing, well good luck.
YOu wanna drive Monza or IMola or Magny-Cours at full bore with a race prepped Mucielago, have at it.

Just don't think that its a game. THere are no "700K$" Tricks or "$/minute" racing strategies to unlock the black beauties.
What there are,are a huge amount of setup options for a given car, radiator vents, tire air pressure, seating position, a customizable MOTEC display, to name a few.
This is a SIMULATOR.

And because its based on other sims, there are mod tracks and cars readily availible online.
Last night i downloaded Watkins Glen and IMola. I also downloaded a BMW E46 M3 car that is a fun drive no doubt.
I plan on downloading a few more tracks and car skins.

I play with a Logitech DFP using 4.6 Beta drivers. FF is top notch. More accurate than GT4, IMO.
My PC is a P4, 1.8Ghz with 512 RDRAM and a 64MB GeForce4.
I just purchased an additional 512 of ram so I will soon be at 1 gig. Next upgrade will be vid card then mobo.

If you are a DRIVING nut and follow motorsport at all, I highly recomend this SIM. Honestly, im not real interested in playing GT4 right now. That is how much i like driving in GTR.
As always, YMMV.

make sure that you have the latest iteration of that RAR file. Unzip it into your GTR/gamedata/teams folder, and in the car selection be sure to look under "All Classes". It ends up being down at the bottom.

Went to an online practice session at Anderstop last night. Man that was cool as hell. Lot to learn tho.

Exactly. 👍
I have been saying this all along. Even in the GT4 thread where they compared GT4 - GTR - Froza (oops, I mean Forza)

Hellz Yeah! I got my computer to hook up to my T.v. so I can use my DF setup and the demo to run smoothly on my laptop so I'm all ready for the Full Version! :D:tup:👍

I just need to figure out how to make my DF have more force feedback. :grumpy:

Be sure to download the 4.6 beta drivers for the wheel. And work with the settings in the logitech profiler and GTR. At full strength it's scary.

if i could speak my mind on this game that is what it would have come out as.

you have put it perfect, GT4 makes you buy the cars etc but anyone can drive any of them, my 4 year old brother can drive an R8 round the ring in 6 minutes.

GTR gives you the cars and tracks from the word go but it hell doesnt give you the skills to drive them, it could take weeks or even months to perfect your line on the tracks, to drive and get the feel for each car, it could take weeks to even configure your perfect driving position

and you are also right about the tracks and cars download, there will always be a new car there to drive, GT4 there are the same cars all the time, they dont change or update, and the tracks, jesus dont get me started, it has the nordschleife available for download so im happy

im not a GTR junkie by any stretch, i am GT_Fan cos i love all GT games but i think it needs to drop the SIM act and let GTR handle everyones simulation needs.

@ GT_Fan2005
👍 That is what I like. Honest people like you whom are not biased. (I like GT4 ( 👍 ) and GTR but am more a GTR fan)

:odd: I saw it on the shelves at Fry's today.

Time to upgrade the PC. What would be the best vid card to get, within reason, dollar wise? And which wheel would you recommend?
Thanks

I have no idea vid card wise but for the wheel I have a DF not a DF pro and that's enough for me. Why you'd need "900º" over fast steering is beyond me. Not to mention paying a friggin arm and leg for something you won't use all the time, granted you have some sort of life.

I just set teh lock to 270 to match the car i'm using. best thing about the dfp is that the lock is tunable. anywhere from 0-900 degrees. :)

You buy the wheel if you play more than 1 sim. It is worth every penny. 👍

you can get 128MB AGP video cards for under 100 USD.

As for horsepower. My next MOBO setup will hopefully be P4 3.4Ghz with 2GB of DDR400 ram and a nVidia 6800 vid card.

if your not at least getting a 9800XT, dont bother getting anything at this point because even 9800XT's are almost obsolete. All i have right now is a 9600XT 256mb.

A beautiful thing about this game is even after you perfect your skills with a certain car and then step into another, you can't use the same tactics because each car reacts different.

And even trying that R-GT you perfected on Spa abother track won't be the same.
GTR is ultimately the best SIM available on the market.

There is not enough time in the week to play both GT4 and GTR and be good at both. You can get away with a lot more in GT4.
If I spent the money on a high end gaming system, GT4 would be on the auction block. But as it is, Im more inclined to play GT4 for a quick, out of the box driving experience.

I went to every store with computer games around and no one even knew what the hell I was talking about. "Hey, do you guys have GTR?" idiot behind the counter "yeah we have GT4" "Uhh, no GTR for the PC" idiot behind counter "well, we have need for speed underground" walked out :grumpy:

I've gotten the same response in the past.
"Are you allowing GTR reserves?"
"Yes, we have GT4 reserves."
"No, I mean GTR."
"OH. Ok."
"So you do?"
"No, I'm sorry. Maybe you should ask in the Computer Area."
"I did. Never heard of it."
"Neither have I. Maybe its not available here."

Pfft...Waste of time.

and at a much discounted £19.99 to in GAME.

however i must say. when u buy it check that the front cover has a stamped CD license code on it. my first copy was blank, so i couldnt install the game :grumpy:
i checked my replacement copy at the store before returning home.

so far, this has a really high learning curve. some tracks are fairly easy on arcade. forget semi pro.... :scared: too much simulation. went to donnington park UK and never finished a lap without losing a front tire. kept getting intimidated by other cars on the bends and losing control.

i think this game is a very different beast to GT4. still its proving to demostrate an interest and a welcome break from GT4.

must add that its amust for a FFP wheel, keyboard control just forget it 👍

it works fine, both the demo version and the full retail version. I suggest you check that you have the latest graphics / audio card drivers installed. i find thats the usual reason for games crashing... how simple is it on the ps2 eh? ;)
