They are American, yes. They are also prog rock/metal. They've been active since 1998.

I can't find many pics of them, but as soon as I find a better/bigger one, I'll post it.

Right, so maybe it's time for a more profound and insightful hint:

Their music is a highly professional mix of progressive rock and -metal with jazz fusion. The band has shifted its lineup a few times, and has included members of King Crimson, Yes, Genesis, Fates Warning, Spastic Ink and Dream Theater.

Call it the evolution of Cynic. The musicians it includes are Sean Malone (ex-Cynic), Paul Masvidal (also ex-Cynic), Jason Gobel (surprise, ex-Cynic) and Bill Bruford (ex-Yes and King Crimson). It has included Ron Jarzombek (ex-Watchtower and Spastic Ink), Steve Hackett (ex-Genesis), Jim Matheos (ex-Fates Warning) and John Myung (ex-Dream Theater).
