[GUIDE] Historic Racing Car Cup

Hey guys,

Some tuning tips for the B-Spec Toyota 7 Monaco race.

1. Make sure you have the turbo and rigidity improvements added.
2. Purchase racing mediums.
3. Change your final gear ration to around 240km/h. This allows the car to accelerate better and overtake better whilst not sacrificing time over the straights as they don't hit 240 for long before braking anyway.
4. Change your rear toe angle to 0.00. Pretty sure the driver was getting stuffed around by the added oversteer (as they don't drive like us) and this was responsible for them hitting that corner before the main straight.
5. Not sure how much driver level factors into it but mine was 20 (and in good form/blue up arrow)

If anyone has any issues let me know, and let me know how it worked for you! I was running it without tuning apart from turbos for a while and wondered why my driver sucked. Tuning it slightly shot me instantly to gold. Stupid B-Spec.

Thanks, managed third using stock tuning with these changes and ride height -20mm. My driver still has trouble catching up to the Chaparral but I'll settle for bronze for now.

Took the Lambo route, fairly easy pickings. Just have to make sure that at Deep Forest you get in the lead by the end of lap one, as it seems the Toyota 7 will be more likely to get stuck in traffic. The 7 got into 2nd on the last lap. he closed in about 4 seconds in one lap. You gotta get up front and stay up front and stay clean, otherwise it'll torch you.

Monte Carlo was easy, I basically caused a 11 car pileup in T1 that took out 2 2Js and 2 Toyota 7s. lol

I see the old Z06 is on the list of capable cars, I think I should have taken that route, I was thinking of picking one up earlier, but I thought it'd lack the oomph to keep up, and lack the handling to gap the field in the corners.

69 Z28 did it for me too. Deep Forest wasn't that bad until I spun it in the lead and made things more interesting at the end trying to block the Toyota 7. But Monaco was a challenge. 1st Race the 2J started 2nd and he pretty much nabbed the lead and ran with it and won by like 20+ sec. After I kinda sorted the setup from the experience from that race I restarted a few time to make sure 2J don't start too far ahead(next to me actually) and I was in 1st by the time we exited Casino, 2J slotted immediately into 2nd and then it was like the most stressful 5 laps around Monaco....I think I was able to pull out a few car length on all the slow corner exits but the 2J would be right there by the braking zone...good thing AI don't brake that deep into the turn....

Okay now i'm really pissed off! Can somebody help me please! Ived tried it with Camaro RM tuned up pratice alote and it still didnt worked the best I could get was third place! Spent 500k on the car still don't work! And before i spended 200k on the buick special! I'm really tired of this race now! Can somebody help me pleace! I'm left with only 100k now... Somebody can pass me a car or something so i can do the races -.-

And sorry for my english i'm french!

Thank you!

I just did it with the ferrari 67 max tuned, soft tyres and somehow i won before thoose stupid white 2J or whatever they are called.

Shake and bake, shake and bake!

That is first thing I thought :)

You will be able to do it with the Camaro. Make sure you are not using the driving aids and do everything you possibly can to get first by the first corner. If you are not first by the first corner start over. This could mean exiting out to get a new set of opponents. The reason for the resets is, once the other cars are in front, they stay in front. Keep trying! You can do it with the Camaro!

I had anti skid on! Ill try without it :D And like you said i'm going to try to pass them in the first corner! :)

I can just add that I beat it using Chaparral 2J. The car is an absolute beast and got me through the majority of Expert races without even blinking. I got it from a guy who had two, and I gave him the XJ13. I don't know how much it costs though but as long as it's not millions it's definitely worth it.

By the way, I've got 3 Lamborghini Countach's. I can trade them in for something it you want. My PSN same as my username.

Anti skid can help you. I think I had it on for these. Just make sure the others are defiantly off. Sliding around can help out in the corners, as long as you maintain speed, as this can be a way to keep the AI cars behind you.

I finaly got the deep forest one! Missing the the other let see!

bought every upgrade for the Z28 RM, wasn't easy but it won.

you'll need to get lucky with the field, on deep forest a chaparral or toyota 7 high in the field would just destroy me on the back straight.

on monaco you can get into 1st at the 1st corner (barge your way in, go on!) and you may have a chaparral on your tail for 5 laps, which is NOT nice, but keep it clean and he won't overtake (you may need to defend going up the hill after T1 though).

one thing i had to do was set the top speed on the gearing to about 180 as it had so much wheelspin in 3rd gear which was killing acceleration.

tuned the car for toe in on deep forest and toe out on monaco (at the front).

2J a waste of money? Man what's wrong with you OP that car is amazing and a great drive. Also one of the most conceptually interesting cars in the game.

I just golded those two races fairly easily in my maxxed out cobra. basically get P1 rudely in the first corner and drive it home, no big deal

Totally agree. Like I mentioned before I smoked them all in those races. Wasn't any more difficult than level 1 races.

2J was an amazing car in GT4, I think it's worth the money. The challenge of doing it in a cheaper car *would* be worth it if you got a decent prize for the event, like say... a 2J ;)

I really got to thank the OP for the Countach LP400 idea. I first tried completing it with the Ferrari 512BB, failing miserably. The car was just too squirly in the corners to beat those damned race cars. Next i tried the Shelby Cobra suggested in another forum. Fully upgraded it, and man is it fast, but turning is a completely different story.

I then found this thread, and sure enough beat it first try with the Countach (after accidentally upgrading the wrong one, damn you 25th anniversary edition!!! :grumpy: waste of a lot of credits...)

Am so glad to be done with it, and am actually hoping to put the Lancia Stratos to good use, has always been a favorite of mine.

I am willing to lend the Countach out if needed, gotta give back to the people that helped so much. My PSN ID is my username.

Good luck everyone who has yet to beat this series. It is doable!

I couldn't do it with the Lambo,by the time the other drivers got around the first corner on Deep Forest it was over :ouch:.So it looks as though i'll be grinding it out on B-Spec until i can get the Toyota 7.

I managed to get the second race with the Lambo, with a few seconds to spare. Maybe I was just lucky that the slower Ford GT was in second, not letting the others past.

I still can't crack Deep Forest. I managed third so far... the 2J started in pole position (I should've restarted), and the Toyota 7 passed me on the 4th lap.

1. Sorry but i give you an advice :) It's much better to try with the Lambo, forget about Toyota 7 Race Car '70 from Like the Wind. To win it you have to give your B-Spec something way much waster than Zonda R for example. My driver keeps failing to win this event even when i keep him from doing mistakes and give him commands like Increase Pace, or Overtake

2. There is something else you can do. Win Like the win by your self in A-Spec and you will receive
toyota-minolta-toyota-88c-v-race-car-89.jpg
as a reward!!!

Haaaaa ??? !!!! You catch my drift now :sly: Haaaaa!!!! That's called easy money my friend.

You need to have the 2J and Toyota 7 behind you at the grid during the start of the race in order to stand a chance. Just exit the race and re-enter if one of them is ahead of you at the grid.

Yes i have the Toyota Minolta and i plan on giving it to my B-Spec Driver once i get to that race :)Only 3 more levels to go lol

Newbie here. I went with the fully Race Modified Chevy Camaro and it was quite easy actually, get to the front as quickly as possible by any means (bump into cars) and then just keep a clean and tight line with no major mistakes. watch out on the straights for the Toyota 7, but I didn't have to block excessively.
