I don't live there but I will be there in Feb. for my Counter-strike Source Clan when we have one of our bi-monthly LANS. (Houston-Imports.com, I'm R|A over there)

I think we have maybe 2 or 3 active members from Houston. You're a little too far south for me, though to make a drive.

I've been to Houston before. didn't like it too much though, the younger people called me a beaner and the older called me a wetback....

and I'm not even Mexican.

nice climate though. better than Seattle.

my mexican friends call me a beaner all the time. i don't look the least bit Mexican, and i'm still apparently a beaner :/

btw, ceiling_fan, stop being a smartass.

Then perhaps your question should have been worded better 💡

Being a non-native english speaker myself, I can tell you that his words, though not fully worded as you say, were perfectly understandable, and not out of context at all. It takes a bit of a forehead to know that in the Local Gatherings subforum, and asking if anybody lives in Houston, Texas, he wants to organize a meeting. Most people here hate him because of his abundance of quoted posts in the "Ludicrous Claim" thread. That is no reason for being a smartbutt.

exactly my point. it seems to me that the whole context of this thread went straight through ceiling_fan and daan's ears(now i know why daan picked Captain Slow as his avatar).

And their joke went straight through your's.

I think ceiling_fan should be banned, just as a warning to other users

because being a smart ass has never led to anything good or constructive.

neither has sarcasm

Ceiling_fan and I knew exactly what you meant, but your question, as it was posed, was answered correctly by Ceiling_fan.

Your question should have read, "Anybody here live in Houston, TX?"

And please enlighten me on why I picked Captain Slow as my avatar?

If we are going to go by the perfect rules of grammar, were there's no ambiguity left, then he should have said: "Does any member of GTPlanet (since "here" could meant his house, his block, or many things) live in Houston, TX?". The small, yet an effort none the less, provided by Ceiling_fan for his joke, and not even answering it honestly afterwards, could be understood like a "not so joke" for some people, like me.

And please enlighten me on why I picked Captain Slow as my avatar?

He meant "Captain Slowpoke"...

Something to do with spanners, right?

Family is from Texas, well, some of it. Way too warm and way too dry for me.

Slight bump :sly: I was born and raised in Houston, and I go to the University of Houston Downtown, only about 5 minutes away from my house.
