What does psn.do to hackers? I was threatened by <removed by moderator>
Not that I an worried, but it is irritating.

Unless you give someone your PSN password they cannot "hack" you. Fact. Ignore anyone that says they're going to hack you.

Ignore them, they are unable to hack you in any way, theres a lot of people going around saying "oh i'll hack your IP address" which is 🤬

I know this because I used to do hacking myself.

People only lose access to their account because of their own stupidity. Using the same password for both your email-address and your PSN-account makes it quite easy for 'hackers' to steal your account. So as long as you take certain cautionary measures, you should be fine.

Exactly. I think I'm right in saying there is not one record or instance of a PSN (or Live for that matter) account being compromised by brute force, a back end vulnerability or anything that could really be considered "hacking". The only time an account is compromised is by a password either being guessed, revealed via phishing in some way or via it being the same as another account of yours that is compromised.

you can be hacked and ive seen in online mostly in lobbys, A few times ive seen users get into others players chat feed n the left and make them text things they didnt type. and i have seen this at least about 30 or more times.

Ive seen users hack accounts and steal peoples user names.
one time in particular a online friend of mine i drift with alot had his account was hacked by somebody who is still using it to this day, i only knew because i get a random request one day with him explaining that he was hacked and to report and delete the guy. which i didnt because i think its funny that who ever that is still uses that account to this day and there are times there both online at the same time. I have a few times invited him to join the lobby his old account is in and every time he does the guy who hacked his account leaves.

Another time i saw somebody hack another player was when i was hosting a drift lobby and two people got into a text war and one person said stfu or im going to hack your account. and sure enuff...he keep arguing and next thing i knew he said fine im going to hack you and bam out of no where the other players car just seemed to slowly move around the track even though his user id said he left the lobby but his car was still in the lobby and slowly moved on his own for about 2 hours without pitting on its own like it usually does if you pause while your still moving. eventually I waited at the pit for the car to pass and rammed it into the pit. But it didnt stop it kept going through the pit and kept circling the track until we all left out. Later on after work i played online again and the same lobby i created still had that same car circling on its own but the persons user name wasnt visible but the car was there..

So people do get hacked in this game

He's not hacking, he's using the line break key to look like he's hacking.

Your post makes my head hurt.

You kids with your kool meme's. The point is linebreak or not i have still seen people get hacked other ways so moral of the story is you can be hacked. Will your life come to a crashing hault if you are....? No. Could you lose your account and garage contents...possibly yes. Should you beware of hackers of course.

Not that I an worried, but it is irritating.

You said anonymous threatened you?
Here's the problem with that. If it was a true threat you must have done something that would gather anonymous attention. Anonymous i know for a fact doesn't flash the "i am going to hack you for no reason" card. There has to be great cause for them to get involved.
If you didn't do anything don't worry about it. It was probably someone claiming they were anonymous to scare you. And honestly it makes me mad because it gives anonymous a bad name for the mission and the cause.

Truly i wouldn't worry about it. Trust me.

Very true

I know this because I used to do hacking myself.

Most people when they play "I'll hack your IP" card it means... Host booting / overloading server packets in order to knock someone offline. Which can be done on any console and person in the room any network. This also doesn't take a expert to do either. A lot of the programs in use for my job (i work in networking/computer tech) are used in this very same situation.

Also not to scare anyone but when people do discover how to use these programs they will try to scare you buy telling you your own ip address and also can narrow down to your address where you live. That's just using your ip address to find that. I don't advise this and I personally don't agree with anyone doing it. I am just letting you know how easy it is and to watch yourself.

Don't send e-mails to random people because when you do they can use a program to find your ip. And even overload your modem which in most cases will restart it.

The first part of your post is called line breaking. Which was very fun way to troll people (i am very guilty of using this) but causes no harm to anyone. But it was very funny to clear a room out by typing "virus uploading blank %" and go up the percent really quick and watch people freak out. Also make it look like people were talking crap to someone but they weren't (did this to my friends a lot hahaha)

The second part of your post is either a account that your friend gave the login out to someone or a look a like account.

If he gave the account out to someone and can't access it i suggest he get on the phone with Sony and try to recover his account.

If you wonder what a look a like account is here is a example with a made up online Id.
(if someone has this I am sorry i just made something up)
#1 Killer
#2 KiIler

Ok on my phone the capital "I" on #2 will look like this "l" (lower case L) on psn. Which is very hard to notice. Nothing technically is wrong with it (not against PSN's terms of service). Just very confusing.

You mean that they push add enter/line thingy button, put the persons name their and type something. No bro that's not hacking.

So many punctuation memes, so little time.

My sig used to say eYe SpEl wUt eYe WuNt tEh WaE eYe Wunt too.

Proper grammer, proper sentence structure, punctuation, and all that good jazz really is pointless on a internet forum. And I will tell you why? 1 most of the keyboard warriors on here with there smart remarks, and stupid meme's are childish kids who don't have anything else better to do and they do it for cool points on the internet and a few giggles, but know that when they do it its not going to help the situation and do it to piss people off and get a reaction. 2. People who haven't grasped the concept of name calling, and saying smart remarks to another person from behind a cpu screen is cowardly and unrespectable. The only people who are going to like and respect that kind of action are other childish people.
Personal note. I have no need for proper grammer or punctuation. I am not a English major, nor do i want to be or pretend to be. I make over $65k a year without having to touch a cpu, without typing or writing. I think maybey if people spent as much effort and time into typing smart remarks and saving and reposting meme's: and channel that into typing a resume you could make some serious money and have better things to do with your life then trolling the internet. Just saying

You mean that they push add enter/line thingy button, put the persons name their and type something. No bro that's not hacking.

They basically covered that one with the line break thing a few post back. It still doesnt explain how my friends account got stolen and used by someone else, other than his user name was pretty cool so somebody said i will take that. He definatly didnt give out his account info, well at least that what he told me, its possible his email was hacked and whoever got access that way. I personally dont see the point of hacking a account of somebody? Its not like you can use people garage contents from another ps3 any so as to why im stumped on that?
And when i saw a person hack somebody out the lobby but the car they was using was still there, even later on that night when i got off work it still was in the same lobby slowly moving around on its own with nobody else was in it. Right after he told the guy stfu or im going to hack you, shows me that people are doing it. That line break thing your talking about does not explain that. So keep replying with line break doesnt change that fact people are getting hacked text linebreak trick or not

Im not going to beat a dead horse on this. i have seen people be hacked and if the Op was weary of this and was asking for some insight as to what he could do use some of that time and effort you post meme's with and smart remarks with and post some links or some info on where he can seek help or tips on how to help prevent this. Anything you post outside of those two thing is pointless, unless your posting your how hacking has effected you

Hey Honda junky you read my post above read what I posted. A lot of information for you.

Not being a troll or anything but try to edit your posts. So you don't get in trouble. I hate to see you get band because of double and triple posting. Just a another helpful tip :)

Really? I like reading your posts, but I gotta say I just lost a little respect.

Dude, I don’t even try to read your posts. I think it would be better if you spoke English here, instead of gamer.

I do think it would be possible for someone to launch a denial of service attack against your IP address, but wouldn’t that affect their ability to play online also?

Lost a little respect how? Why do you say that?

And not in every case. For instance there is a program I use for testing network stability. And it lists every IP and MAC address going through my network. When people do the host boot / overloading others network they can do it to a person's IP to knock them out of the room and if they do it right it can knock them offline. In GT5's case if the room is fixed host everyone will be booted out of the room if the person does this to room host.

One thing is I met a now good friend of mine when he was being prompted to send a e-mail to someone (not saying who did it) when my friend sent the e-mail to him the guy said bye. I was trying to tell him don't send it but by then I was too late. I ended up adding him and me and him are good friends now. I just wish I could have warned him faster.

Sorry, you are right. I assumed you supported them (Anonymous) – and as I reread your post I see you were just stating facts – so sorry.
It is just that what they did to our spring of 2011…

If the reason you said you lost some respect (i am not mad I just want to hear why and i can respect your opinion) because i basically support what anonymous cause is. It really is more than meets the eye. A lot of people hate anonymous because of the PSN hack which wasn't a group effort. Also a lot of people still think anonymous was the reason PSN was down for so long. Just a little info the intital hack was about a week before Sony yes Sony turned off PSN.
There is so much more than just the Sony hack though. Got to check out the big picture. A lot of good in the cause and that is why i support it.

But everyone is entitled to their opinions. And have every right to believe what they believe and support. If you have questions about what i mean PM me because I do want to keep this thread on topic. Thumbs up.

But the guy that made the thread honestly has nothing to worry about. I am pretty much positive that it was just someone trying to scare him

Can you actually prove someone was hacked rather than them revealing their password in some way?

I know what you mean. That's why i told him to tell his friend to call Sony.

But it is a possibility to make a look alike account. Like i said before it is hard to notice in some cases

I dont see how he was hacked.

As far as I knew your account cant be taken over unless someone either finds out your password or compromises your email.

Wow just wow.

I think I'm pretty safe from hackers, I always keep the curtains drawn when I'm online and I have a dog.

Sorry for the old reference ^ that I suspect no one will get but I couldn't resist.

That's great that you think that; however, it's part of the rules every single member at GTP agrees to when signing up, and as such, isn't optional.

Please use the edit button or the multi-quote feature instead of triple-posting. Thanks 👍

Exactly what I said earlier, having your password compromised by phishing/guessing/being the same across all your accounts isn't the same as being hacked.

Sorry about that I dont normally skim read I reread your post.

Doesnt your signature say Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional. So lets trash talk on a internet forum very grown up Guy....👍

I wasn't trash talking, I just stated that your post made my head hurt. And it did...
