Has a video game ever made you cry?

And if it hasn't, was there a time when you were close?

Just finished "To the Moon"...

I was close. Very close.

Yeh every time Cod bring out a new game, I cry with laughter but still buy it so then cry in sorrow ;P

MGS4 - when Old Snake about to kill himself with a gun in his mouth :(

Pretty much every MGS has brought a tear to my eye, they are SO bloody melodramatic! I don't think I've ever felt any real connection to any other game so that's the only one as far as I'm concerned.

No wait! Medal of Honour (2010), the bit where you get seriously ambushed and you radio for backup, it gets progressively worse and the guys you're with start to lose hope, and you eventually radio back saying 'actually, don't bother, we're pretty much going to die' and then BOOM! Apaches turn up and sort everything out. If they hadn't I would've been a wreck for sure.

Being 11 at the time of release and with aspergers, I can say that I almost welled up after playing Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 1. The game story was like nothing I'd experienced before (and when you're 11 with aspergers it's a big deal). It's funny because I haven't played a game with a 'story' for so long now, probably because I'm not into FPS or other similar genres.

Possibly the first time I completed Kingdom Hearts was the only time I ever cried because of a video game.

Medal of Honor 2010. Just when you think everything is going to be okay you get sniped. I cried because that was the best FPS campaign I have ever played and because we still died at the end of day.

While I didn't weep when I finished KH II, the entire series is immense in its story and makes me want to cry for some minutes.

Another one is LA Noire, mostly because the song they chose at the end and

The death of Cole Phelps..

I didn't really cry, but MGS4 made me VERY teary-eyed.

*SPOILERS*
When Otacon said "Snake had a hard life" at the epilogue, all the things that Snake had managed to overcome just to stop the Patriots came rushing through my mind. I felt chills down my spine.

I'm not afraid to admit, that I had a tear in my eye at the end of Red Dead Redemption.

And I totally agree with Technicolors, on the song played over the closing credits of L.A Noire. 👍

*cough soft *cough lol

No game to yet that I have cried from sadness or laughter I have raged but not cried lol

The end of Red Dead Redemption got me close as well as LA Noire. I think Red Dead to me was more of a WOW that was 🤬 awesome type of ending. San Andreas was still by far the best ending mission I've ever played in my life. The length and complexety alone was enough to drop my jaw, let alone the acts you were performing (ie, stealing a SWAT tank and driving through a building, firefights in a burning building, chasing a rogue cop in a firetruck while dodgeing bazillions of molotov cocktails all while trying to catch your brother hanging from the fire trucks latter on the hood of your car, all in a single mission. I've said enough, but lord is there a lot more). San Andreas ending was really moving to me. I just haven't felt it in another game as much as I did SA. The sense of accomplishment was extremely satisfying after beating 100+ action filled, and really tough missions at times. When Carl said his last lines, I shook my head, smiled, wiped a tear and said WOW. Best ending/story I've ever played.

No crying, but really sad.

MGS4 - Many scenes, but especially the microwave scene.
MOH 2010 - Many scenes, the ending of Belly Of The Beast almost had me in tears.
BF3 - The ending of the Rock & A Hard Place mission.
Grandia II - Millenia & Mareg heroic scenes
Uncharted II - Elena scene during The Tree Of Life episode when Flyn pulled a fast one.
MGS3 - Boss battle.....Naked Snake torture scene, Sokolov beating & many more
Heavy Rain - Pretty powerful scenes in this game.
Red Dead Redemption - Ending
MGS2 - Fortunes fate, Olgas fate....many more
MGS - Ninja's fate, many more.
Uncharted III - Sully Scene
Halo Reach - Noble Team, Jorge, Kat, Carter.....many scenes
Halo 2 - Tartarus.....he was a favorite of mine.
MW3 - Terrorist explosion with the mother & little girl.
Mass Effect II - Some of my team members died.

RDR definitely.

The main one for me is Valkyria Chronicles. If you've played it you know, if you haven't then I won't spoil it for you.

The ending of Red Dead Redemption came very close for me, too. Also: The endings of Fallout 3, Enslaved and Journey were very moving.

Oh, and the last scene from Earthworm Jim, but those were tears of laughter! :D

Yeah, never really cried at a video game, but the endings of MGS4 and RDR were definitely very powerful and emotional scenes. During the microwave scene in MGS4, I, for the first time, really felt for this fictional character who had battled and was battling overwhelming odds, and actually got a sense that he might fail.

No games ever made me cry before.. RDR and LA Noire have had me close, but the real closest iv'e ever come to welling up.. has to be the bull fighting arena scene in Yakuza 3, with Rikiya Shimabukuro & Kazuma. I guess it only makes real sense if you've played the game and have witnessed the characters (and story) evolve.

I felt that too.

I haven't cried at a game, but have come close a few times.

Metal gear solid: bad ending.
Mgs3: the torture scene.
FFVII: Aeris.
Mgs4: A few scenes, including the microwave.

Never. The saddest tale for me (dependant on ending unlocked) was silent hill 2 back in the day.

Basically the main character topped his self.

Quite a powerful tale at the time. Luckily I haven't tarnished the memory with the new HD nonsense either.

What Hd nonsense? I've bought a few hd versions of games I loved back in the day. Most recently, the mgs hd collection. No memories tarnished here. I still love mgs3 and appreciate mgs2 more than I did at the time.
