Decided to jump on the bandwagon and have a crack. Still working out the subtleties of all the settings, but some of the results posted above are sensational.

My first HDR shot. Photoshop seems to not be able to recognize the exposure values of the GT5 images. Anybody know how to fix this? I ended up taking 3 pictures than getting rid of the high exposure one because it was throwing the picture off. Does anybody here think taking 4 pictures will work if 2 are under exposed, 1 is exposed correctly, and 1 is over exposed?

I've no idea how to get that to show up so i'll just post the link here below.

If somebody wants to send me a private message on how to post pictures from FlickR on here that would be great.

Hoping to bring this thread back to a somewhat-more-realistic use of HDR...

HDR = great power. With great power comes great responsibility.

Are you pointing out that action shots would not be able to be made HDR in real life? If so, and with the greatest of respect, I'd just like to offer the philosophy that just because it can't be done in real life, there's no reason that we can't do it in game; if it can be done, it should be experimented with? That's the way boundries are pushed, the way things are taken to the next level. You yourself subscribe to the view that you use all the tools at your disposal to create art- this is an extension of it surely?

Just my point of view of course, and like I said, I mean no disrespect to your opinion, just opening up a point of debate. :)

agree with boozybloke, most people are trying to still learn HDR, sixtoes seems to do a very good job with his shots, but you have to understand there is a huge learning curve with this stuff. As for the action shots, they can be created in real life, taking just one shot and then making different exposures of said shot, but i dont think sixtoes was even talking about that in the first place

Had a bash off this and I must admit it was harder than I thought it would be.

Here is my first hdr type photo. Not all that good I'm still learning haha.

This is pretty good, for me at least - though not in comparison to many of the pics posted here...

Is there a formula, how many different shots you use for HDRs and how big the difference of exposure is?

I tried a lot, but never satisfied.

Tried again there.

Edit: Used a different photo editing software and made this

p.s. can you tell there was a watermark going across this image :D

Hey boozy - sorry I missed this question; I just haven't been paying attention! :dunce:

I wasn't referring to the notion of action shots being made HDR - my recent work on a Zonda in my gallery is, I think, evidence that I don't feel too strongly about that particular matter. :)

It's definitely not about realism in subject matter - what I meant was more realism in the processing. Some of the images in this thread seriously hurt my brain just looking at them... :ouch: Now, certainly it's the photographer's prerogative to make their HDR seriously intense - but my personal preference is for a slightly more realistic tone-mapping.

That's all I meant by the comment! :)

Somehow seems undercooked compared to some of the shots in this thread :(

Might not be as "over the top" as some others but it looks stunning in my opinion. I like the subtle tone mapping more then the over the top look, Which is what i think sixtoes is getting at with his comments.

Just atarted to get into taking HDR photo's not sure I have done looking at some of these pistures so any tips would be great

this is what I have so far
