Parent's Evening was last night. I was pleasantly surprised. None of the teachers had anything bad to say about me. A few of them said I often talk, which I do, especially in English, but they're somewhat encouraging me to do that because I seem to lack confidence. But in English I'm sat with most of my friends that I hang out with, and with my friends I just have no shame . It's mainly Maths where I shy away and don't say anything, because I have no confidence in there. The teacher kindly let me sit next to my friend, so I had someone to talk to and someone to help me, because I'm too shy/not confident enough to ask Miss for help. Today she even asked me if I understood it, but today I could... somehow... concentrate! I haven't had that feeling in a while.

I settled on the DC Shoes logo for my mosaic in Life Skills, it was the easiest to make out of tiles. You can see my Hipstergram photo of it here. If you squint, it does look like the logo.

Oh, and in Life Skills, I overhead Sir saying something to one of the girls.
"I've been trying to get an engine for you lot."
"An engine?"
"Yeah, for you to strip down."

My heart melted.

Also had parents evening last night, though with only 3 subjects, it was pretty quick. History got a solid A last year, 90% on the coursework, so should easily get an A and possibly an A*! Physics is a bit weird, because my result last year is skewed to a D by one bad exam, so sorting that out is the priority. Maths is also odd, because it's really easy to grasp in class, and fairly intuitive. Despite this I can't do exams, and posses a C when I should easily have an A :irked:

All was pretty positive though, which is good. Last parents evening ever!

My parents evening was some time ago, only one teacher had only good things to say, the rest all had something negative, mainly I don't seem enthusiastic enough. Maybe it's because I'm not enthusiastic about school? Just maybe.

My school's holiday concert is tonight. I'll let you guys know later how boring and torturing fun it was. Thankfully, the song list we have this year is much better than last year when we had to play a song from My Little Pony. :yuck:

Got a chemistry test, and a History test...grrrr...

Then on Saturday, I have to go to an Indian social event, where I'll be meeting a lot of people, then on Sunday, I have 2 Sweet 16's to attend to (all of them girls ;)) and then next saturday, I have 4 more lol. (all of them girls ;))

This won't sound bad, I'm trying to forget the 89% I got on my lit essay.

I'm currently celebrating because I finally passed a Geometry Test. I have gotten 60's on all of my test (Not quizzes, I have a few A's in those) besides the one I took a couple of days ago. I kind of felt like I just won the lottery because my grade is and 85 right now.

During History today i had to explain to someone that the US Bill of Rights was written by James Madison and not Thomas Jefferson. My teacher was laughing the whole time because he knew I was right. Also, we took the citizenship test yesterday (The one for all immigrants going into the US) and I got a 100%. Now I have everyone in my class trying to copy my tests since I always get A's.

^ If I had to take a citizenship test, I'd be deported.

Someone lit a fire in the boys bathroom today during break, so everyone went outside, stood there for like half an hour in 0 degree weather and then went over to the middle schools gym for a while, ended at around 11:30 when lunch starts. Such a waste of time. Of course now I'm on my spare block and don't have to go back rest of the day, so slack.

Well the school concert went fine other than the stand with all of my instruments and sticks (I play percussion) on it collapsing half-way through the first song

I feel like nobody in my school likes me anymore..
I'm starting to be kinda "left" out of my group of friends, they started hanging out without me, and basically just forgot all about me..
Out of the blue..

That's high school in a nutshell right there, but don't worry about it. After you graduate you'll only really talk to one or two of those people you call your friends. On college is when you really start to make more meaningful bonds with people.

Does anyone else here find essays absolutely terrifying? I currently have two unfinished ones, the other, which is Psychology, I have no idea what to write (the topic is a simple "I" but I can't get anything out of it), and the other is basically reading two texts, then comparing the views of their writers... sounds easy, but I can't pull it off for some reason.

I can easily do any other studies, haven't really failed at anything, not even Maths which has haunted me ever since junior high, but the thing is... I. Just. Can't. Write. A. Censored. Essay.

Had a writing course back at last term, where we basically had to write a composition every week (totaling 5 weeks). I only got two, both of which were about things close to me - first one about hate speech, second about video games. The others, well, I had thoughts about them, but was unable to get them to the paper. I actually don't even remember if I passed that course in the first place. Hopefully I somehow did. At least the teacher praised my game composition as the best I have ever written. :dopey:

If you are allowed to have notes, write them out and then just refer back to them when you need. It really helped me in my CAU that I have just done in English.

Essays are the worst ... *snip*

Call me weird, but I like them. I like structuring a logical argument, weighing the evidence to form a rational conclusion. Though I suspect that opinion isn't held by many

I've been lucky enough to not get hammered with essays yet, but from what I've experienced, they're crap.

I had to pull a poetic analysis essay on O Captain! My Captain! out of my ass on Friday. Albeit it only needed to be five paragraphs (I did six), but it was pain and agony every minute I sat at my desk to type it.

You enjoy essays? Can you by any chance do mine as I havent had a weekend without one to do since september.

Sounds like me, especially that I'm the only one who watches motor racing and everyone just calls it in general "NASCAR". Really annoying as I watch a wide range of racing series, and sometimes even called me stupid cause all they do it turn left...

Same here, where in NY do you live?

 Homework. Over the past two years I've only ever had homework in Maths and English. And even then, it was maybe one or two pages to do over the space of a week, and maths in 2011 Eugene simply stopped enforcing homework.

And yes I did refer to a teacher by their first name, but it's only the one teacher, and it's a trend my brother started, and I'm carrying it on. He doesn't get annoyed by it, because he's awesome. And towards the end of this school year couldn't stop laughing at my attempts to be a gangster, mind you I was intentionally mocking gangster's in the process and being silly. And he generally mocks his students, and calls them Susan... Gender of the student is not considered, they're Susan.

Actually, I'll be more specific, now I'm more awake. I like history style essays, English writings in poetry and that kind of analysis of books I hate. So only if yours were history essays :P

Well, today I was told I have a good figure and someone nearly kissed me.

Both were girls with boyfriends who did it.

...yep.

Were they orange and did they have half a pillow stuffed down their top?
Similar instances have occurred for me, some girls (although I feel it inappropriate to call them that) come up to me and say I'm really fit yadda yadda, to be honest as soon as they go "Hey Callum *wink*" I tell them to frick off.

No, maybe even worse... they were my friends! :scared:

I went to sharpen my pencil in Maths and came to sit back down next to my friend, and she went, "You know, you have a nice figure." and I was like, "Umm... thanks?" and then she went, "I mean, you look like one of those tomboys that wears boardshorts and a bikini top, and walks across the beach and all the guys are like *pulls a drool face*" I just said, "Umm... I do wear boardshorts and bikini top, but I've never had that happen to me... >.>"

Then in English, I was talking to my other friend, about random shizz, because that's what we're like, and then she comes close to me, then pulls away with this horrified face going, "Oh my God, I was just about to kiss you!" ...I returned the horrified face.

Oh, and in English, another friend was away, so I glorified her chair and said she was there in spirit, then another friend went, "Oh, look! She's on the floor!" and she picked up this giant ball of hair out of a hairbrush or something. So, then our friend was replaced by a giant ball of hair, until I showed the teacher, and he looked at it like a kid who'd just got their favourite toy. He picked it up, went to his desk, got some sellotape, and stuck it to his face.

...That's my school! :dopey:

Today was one of those days I really didn't want to be at practice. Coach was furious with the Varsity squad for making stupid mistakes and made them run and run and run. Sometimes I wonder if he is trying to make us perfectionists.

For English we are forced to read "To Kill a Mockingbird" even though some of us read it already. Of course my English teacher says she does not care and we have to read it. Also, lately I have been hanging out with some friends that I use to talk to. One of those people is a girl I used to have a crush on a couple of years ago. I don't know why but we always have long conversations about random things and she is always the one that starts it.

Something that came up in my head is me actually going to college. I have to try several times more to get a scholarship to a college since my parents are finding it harder to keep a job. I hope I do get one and I will have to try as hard as possible to make that happen.

Had the perfect example of how low high school student maturity levels are. My Chemistry teacher was writing on the board what we need to go over, and instead of putting down 'Dimensional Analysis' all the way, he just abbreviated analysis to the first four letters. Almost everyone started giggling.
