I was actually just putting 'er away after cruisin' when I took that.

I'm definitely ready for some racin' tonight. A couple of the newer faces from last week said they would be there, should make for a good turn out.

I need to get me a car and start practicing. Bout to hop online now. I'll send out some friend requests. I'm pretty sure gargleblaster is planning on being there too.

Kalmiya117 is usually the host, Skeletor27 and Mudd take over host duties when he is unavailable. Feel free to add us all. I should be online within the hour for some practice.

Which group are we using tonight?

I just bought my Challenger RM for group 1. Still deciding my Group II car.

NVM....saw we run both groups each night

I'll be using the 70 Challenge RM for the Group I and street version for the 530pp class

Awesome racing tonight guys. It was great to see a decent race grid on the field duking it out. I was not kidding about getting my top place back. I am sure that fat superbird's butt helped me out alot in Group II but I was still gaining some time.

In Both groups I treated tire wear as a top deal and it worked out great for me. In group I it was a huge gamble. I had hardly any tire left on the left rear on the last lap.

Tonight's Results!

Major Props to CAMkize of a well done Group I race. I was highly impressed with me doing my sincere best on tire wear and lap times and he kept up within 8 seconds at all times, coming as close as 2 seconds with me not messing up. I have to keep an eye out for more people now as the Series goes on.

I hope to see everyone next weekend!

Also, The Last Shuttle Launch as seen from my point of view. IF you listen carefully enough you will hear the DSLR I was using going crazy snapping shots in Sports mode. Took well over 60 photos in span of say, 35 seconds or less.

Thanks. :O

I was assuming he was going to do a pit stop sometime after half-way. My plan was going to be I would pit the car 1 lap after he did. But on Lap 8, he stayed out. Same after Lap 9 and Lap 10. It started to dawn on me he might try to do the race without pitting. So, I decided to try to keep the car on track for as long as I possible can. Guess it was the right decision as the results will show you. :) At the end, I was down to about 3/16th on the Left Front tire, 1/4th on the Right Front and Left Rear tire and 5/16th on the Right Rear tire.

BTW, you should have seen the 3-wide drag race on Hulman Blvd. at the start of the Group 2 race. Totally crazy!

Good races tonight fellas! The first race I was about to take 3rd on the last lap and spun to end in 8th...:nervous:

Then, the second race, I figured everyone would pit, so I went in at the halfway point and only Skeletor(i think) did...screwed up my strategy, but I couldn't have lasted on those tires for a full 16 laps anyway.

Yeah. I took a huge gamble on the tires. The challenger is not exactly easy once the tires wear past half way mark. I was feathering the throttle alot to prevent excessive wheel spin.

My two weapons of choice(painted the RM a different color)

That was some good racing last night. I'm very surprised I even made it in time. Thanks for being patient while I had server issues.

Starting last in G2 and working my way up to 2nd was pretty exciting. Kal missed out on all the action. on the 2nd lap (3rd on the replay) I was driving like a run-away beer truck going down the front stretch. I got CAMikaze's Superbird a little out of shape. Appologies for that.

G1 I got a little beat up on the 1st lap. Never recovered. I don't think there was a snowball's chance in hell I would have been able to go the distance on tires. It was cool to see CAMikaze get a 2nd place finish.

It was also really cool to see some new drivers. Hope you guys all had fun, and will be back for the rest of the way and next season.

I forgot to bring my score sheet to work this morning. I'll go get it at lunch time and post the updated standing this afternoon.

Are you guys planning on starting the next season immediately following this one?

That certainly was some fun racing. Very interesting how all the tire wear strategies played out. Speaking of tire wear, I got two words for you guys: DAY...TONA !!! I think next weekend is really gonna offer some change up possibilities in the standings, anything can happen there. Our 20 lap test session proved that. I'm interested to see how everyone deals with tires, we've got the Vettes and GT40's with their dominant speeds countered by fast wearing tires. During our test, it looked like the GT40 had some sliding-up-the-track issues, perhaps we were witnessing some tire experimentation going on there, eh?

Ya daytona will b a one pit stop race with 30 laps in group 1. Most cars avg 18laps, the best I have seen was a mach 1 making it to lap 27 on one set of tires without any major time loss.

. . . During our test, it looked like the GT40 had some sliding-up-the-track issues, perhaps we were witnessing some tire experimentation going on there, eh?

You are correct Mudd. I threw Hard tires on there at the last second. Turns out that isn't a very good idea. Mediums might work though.

I'm pretty sure the Z06 will own Daytona. Everything else will be lucky to keep up in the draft.

I'm sure we will take a week or 2 off at the end of the season. Give us a little break, think about cars for next season, give more people time to join, discuss what, if anything that needs to be changed or addressed for next season. etc.

I've yet to do my tire testing at Tona with our muscle cars, but quite a few evenings of tire compound testing with Nascars around there have not shown much advantage with racing hards, I could only get more laps out of them if everyone was on them. If your using hards and trying to keep up with cars on softs, the amount of sliding you end up with seems to make them all wear about the same. There may be an advantage in using different compounds front to rear, but that's gonna depend on how the tires wear on your car. I may look into some of that next time I'm practicing.

little secret DO NOT USE RACING HARDS....I had a 60s70s NASCAR series and did all testing offline when psn was down. Well the series started when service was restored and initially I had a race setup just like this with no pitting before lap 25 on racing hards. Hahahahahaha bad idea, everyone thought I was a moron for making those rules and I had to edit to what the new online physics were like. IMO the reason why is because you need a light car to use hards efficiently and you need a different tune to keep your car glued to the corners at daytona so you prevent sliding. But other than that it sounds like a good theory and I would love if it would work, but it simply doesn't. If you do find yourself running hard tires for 18 laps or more, please let me know because I sure would love to see that replay. All I can get out of hards are 18 laps (solo, no draft) versus softs 22laps+ (solo, no draft). And bump drafting for consecitive laps wears them to about 14laps hard & 18 laps soft.

I think I'll be dialing-in my 530pp Challenger on Sports Softs tonite at Daytona for Sunday's T/A race. I should be in my lounge or if not then I will be racing these bad boys in open lobby. If you see me in an open lobby, join me and test your Group 1 car (640pp). So far I seen a Cuda do a 50.8 in 3 laps & I have my Challenger at 51.8 in 3 laps. (Lap times are best around lap 8 here.) I can imagine the lower times would be in the 52's, probably no 53's (I might be wrong, please don't quote me.).

So I went home and got the score sheet during lunch. But I forgot the USB flash drive which has the .dwg file I need. Oops. So calm down everyone, it will be up tomorrow.

I might be around later this evening for some Daytona exhibition races. I'm ready to ruin my perfectly good setups.

Just participated in a short practice session with CrazyB and Skell and I've come to a conclusion...I LOOOOVE racin' Daytona! :trouble:

If I had to guess, I'd say Skeletor has been driving this one...:dopey:

Yup, that looks like something I just got done driving. Just missing the dirt & grass all up in the fenders. It was a rough night last night. I had to pull out the Ram for a little bit. The stupid host had start positions on "slowest first", so I qualified 1st everytime just by driving backwards to the begining of pit road before each race. Worked every time.

Standings are updated.

That was stupid with slowest first, I kept getting wrecked by everyone flying by into first turn or later on first lap, was not ONLY CLEA (room title : STREET ONLY CLEA). Lol!
