Yes, this is also why we threw their tea into the Boston Harbor.

This is a primarily an American even with American cars. Why not do 3 American tracks and 5 over seas?

Valid point. The fact that we are running on any overseas tracks makes it a tour. And I do love Indy!

My input revised with Mudd & Skeletors input too:

1. Daytona Road (U.S.)
2. Indy Oval (U.S.)
3. Circuito de Madrid (Spain)
4. Autodromo Nazionale Monza No Chicane (Italy)
5. WILD CARD RACE
6. Nürburgring GP/D (Germany)
7. Suzuka Full Course (Japan)
8. Laguna Seca Raceway (U.S.)

Hey guys, check it out! This is my 500th post!...that's...really all I have to say at the moment...:dopey:

Historic Trans Am Racing Season II Prizes

After seeing the prizes rewarded for the Wild Card weekend, I realized that I had underestimated the value of many of the prize tickets. So I've changed how they will awarded to even it out a bit.

Each of the three podium finishers for Group 1 may chose from the Birthday Tickets available: '63, '65, '66, '67, '69, '70, '71

Each of the three podium finishers for Group 2 may chose either a Modern Muscle Car ticket or a Classic Muscle Car ticket.

That's the best I could think of to try and keep the bigger prizes for the Main Event podiums.

Good luck, racers!

The Laguna race is still scheduled for this Sunday, normal time and place.

You've got me scared to turn on my PS3, we seem to be operating in patterns. :scared:

Off topic, but we were discussing this last night. Her she is in action, Skel:

Each year on Thanksgiving morning a local 4x4 club "Got Mud?", hosts the "Turkey Day Massacre" out at an off road park near here. In case y'all can't see it, that's "Mudweiser" across the top of the windshield.

By the way, can anyone guess where my screen name came from?:p

What would you guys think about, Dropping the Group II cars, and replace them with the "modern" Trans Am cars such as the Corvette C5-R, Viper, Falcon etc etc?

Me, Skel and Titus did some testing last night and I had way to much fun. Still need a way to even some of the cars out for just throwing it out there.

Also, we did a half race test last night on Laguna and Tire wear will be the biggest deal. If you can make your tires last long than your chances are awesome.

I like this idea:tup:

We can have 2 groups but one would be vintage (keep group 1) @ 640pp & one modern group (new group 2) @ 640pp. I have raced the c5-r, camaro lm & zr1 Rm, etc... And I find them all very competitive at 640pp as well. Or we can lower the pp for both groups to 600pp & it will make for some interesting tuning to the previous (vintage cars). This will also limit the amount of aero or hp individuals will run.

The testing we did last night showed the Corvette Z06 RM and the Camaro LM car were really fast with restrictions on them. They def trump the Falcon. Although I have yet to test the Viper against them.

I would think either a 630pp limit would work, or a 611 HP and 1250KG limit would work to even it out. Needs further testing of course. I suspect the HP and weight restrictions would make some tighter racing.

That's good stuff Mudd! Here's a link to some of the places my Jeep has been. In the winter time, public roads become 4x4 trails.

On my PS3, I actually left out about 90% of the screws & bolts. Makes for REALLY fast dissasemble & reassemble

I like the modern T/A idea. I wish it could be a separate series though. I actually find the stock chasis on ss tires a lot of fun. I also think the pp should limit the cars to around 600+ hp. Or regulate by power & weight. If the cars get to powerfull, people's driving gets worse. (Corvette C6-R is @ 590 hp) btw. http://www.corvetteracing.com/cars/gt2-c6r/gt1-v-gt2-chart.shtml

:lol::lol: But seriously I do too. I don't even really notice a difference in the handling other than lap times being slower.

👍 Sounds good!

I would love to squeeze a 2010 Camaro SS RM in there...

Well I would assume that it would include all modern U.S. RM's and Race Cars. I'm identical in my lap times with the SS RM, LM & Zr1 Rm

I prefer just one day of racing. and I like a modern version of racing instead of the weaker group.

Sounds like our options are:

1) continue as planned with 2 group Vintage cars

2) take a season off from Vintage to run 2 classes of Modern T/A

3) combine Vintage and Modern by running 2 groups of race prepped similar PP cars

Option 3 sounds interesting to me, but I'm a bit torn, because I do enjoy the street class racing...:indiff:

^ I like options 1 & 3. I think the following series (series 4) maybe switch to all modern.

If you run both modern & historic.....what was the new title for this series going to be called? Historic/Modern Trans Am LOL .......very contradictory! Maybe call it something more simple, like drop the surname and title it Trans Am Racing. That'll leave it open for Vintage & Modern IMO. I really wish there was enough time and we can do it all, but that'll never happen.

I would be ok with either option 1 or 3 as well. Some of us have already signed up for the "Vintage Sports Car" series on Saturdays. Which uses the old street cars. I'm fine with that, then runing this one using the old & new race cars.
I wish I could find a series I like that is during the weekdays.

I see a possible problem with race time. We had just been discussing lengthening G1 races. How long is it gonna take to run two G1 races? It guess might not be a big deal, but keep it in mind.

It's too difficult for me to schedule actual race time during the week. I wish the weekends were just plain longer. We should add a day in there. 'Wednesday, Thursday, Turismoday...'

it is ok but late at night in the weekdays ;I am arraiving to my home at 8pm in -4.30time

We should propose a bill to congress stating that there are millions of PSN users who need an extra day added to the week for gaming, called Turismoday! LOL

I actually don't even know what my schedule will be looking like in the following weeks. Because my son will be born no later than 8/8/11 (according to the doc). So I don't expect to be online for a couple of weeks & then once I'm allowed back on it will probably be later in the weekday evenings even if I'm up to it. But I do expect myself to keep racing on the weekends.

The more I think about it, it's much more difficult to find good RM/LM races then it is good street races. I'm liking the idea of the mixed era Trans Am series. Fifty years of American thunder.

Never really done much with ballast tuning before, always stuck with lighter is better approach and just removed a bolt on part to lower PP when needed. So the modern T/A testing we did was an experiment for me for sure. Ballast threw me off a little. At Road Daytona, tail was loose so I moved ballast to rear, worked very well. Annoyed Skel's mirror for a few laps and gave Titus one heck of a run. When I got to SSR 5, my Camaro started pushing like crazy, both fronts bright red every corner. There's definately an art to ballast tuning, gonna have to work on that.

I had some issues with ballast tuning as well, however, when i moved ballast towards the rear in the z06 RM, it made the car looser. Also made the pp go up by 1 point.

I'll be on a little later tonight, probably be up for it. Need ta make some adjustments on my Camaro though, still got a bad front end push.

Anyone up for a 30 Lap race tonight with the Modern Trans Am Cars?

Quite possibly. Track? And which cars and mod limit do you mean? I have a modern Mustang, Camaro and Challenger that are fully built...so please allow the irreversible mods.

Remember guys To night is the Finale Race. Laguna Seca 20 Laps GII and 30 Laps GI.

Due to increased game time required I will start practice at 6am EST and races will start at 7a, EST. Expect atleast 45 minutes for GII racing and lil over an hour for GI racing.

There are no mandatory pit stops but I am sure your going to have to pit anyways. When is all up to you.

If you know of anyone who is trust worthy enough for me to send a car to to line it up for the photo after the classes let me know. I thought it would be easy to do but proving not. I have CAMikize's cars and need atleast his Group I car in the photo for next Seasons Thread.

This is almost an endurance race tonight, it's gonna be fun. I just checked to make sure my cars were set up and realized my Cuda was still set for Tona, that could've been messy. Made my adjustments and ran a few laps, I'm not making a run for the pole tonight but the Cuda feels more stable and consistent then it has all season, so this should be good. I spent all week making darn sure the Camaro was ready. The championship leader board has come down to tonights race, so keep an eye that race order throughout tonight, it's gonna make for some exciting racing.
