I've flow a few PMs Jordans way about this idea and he thinks it probably isn't a good idea, but what do you think, should GTP have a history fourm?

I hate history, but that doesn't mean i have to go in there... You can have it if you want. Just like the drifting and GT4 forums... :D sorry, that was Darin speaking... I really don't care about a history forum.

what would you talk about anyway? I get bored in class just listening about it.

But, if we need help in that class it might become useful.

To discuss anything about history, from Hitler to Genghis Khan. Weapons history, anything really to do with history. Hell even the history of cars.

Not my cup of tea, it could be the most boring topics of all.

Blake, try start a history thread and see if it takes off? If so you'll have a better ground for wanting a history forum

Yeah, well it doesn't seem to be getting a good response so I'll try making one in a couple of weeks, if it doesn't take off I'll let the idea fly...

When I first came here I thought you meant history as in all the old posts, but you mean history as in what happened in the past. You need to be more specific on your opening post.

No. There are not enough people with enough specific knowledge to sustain a quality-posted history forum. Try post a history thread or two and see how successful they are. I doubt it will be enough to justify an entire forum to it.

And by specific knowledge, I mean people who actually know what they are talking about. People who can mix sentiment and opinion with fact, yet making a compelling argument one way or another.

Well, thats you. Its not the entire community.

Talking to yourself? ;)

History forum... no. I won't really care if one is created but I don't think it'll happen. Like Mike said, finding enough people to actually carry a conversation worth reading on a topic like that is pretty hard. Most of the people here don't have any knowledge of history, even things that have happened in their life time. God I was in class the other day with a kid who thought the Cold War ended in the 1960's, that's the sort of posts you'd be dealing with. Then Famine would come along, explain the event in it's entirety and the people in question would go "Ur stupid. ASL?". Anyone sincerely interested in the topic is going to go to the library or find a reliable net source (if one exists), anyone passing by is more likely to ask about the Shogun of the Dark from Ninja Scroll than anyone real.

Most kids in my class are so bad at history and geography they don't know who Hitler was and they couldn't point out the town they live in, much less the state they live in.
