It's so boy racer it hurts, but I'd drive it anyway.
I just can't take it seriously. It's so much more ridiculous than the older "competitors", specifically the Focus ST and Mazdaspeed 3. It's got the gnarliest bodykit but it's still a front-drive economy car at heart. It's more ridiculous than the last-gen beflared Focus RS, even in lime green. In my opinion, before you can take a regular car and make it look like a serious performance machine, first you have to actually turn it into a serious performance machine, a la STi, Evo, and of course the new RS (none of which try as hard to look cool as this Type R, mind you).

Some websites say that we're getting it(Some dealer in the mid-west America) got a list of cars coming to America and apparently the Civic Type R was on the list, but then again can you really trust a dealership for this info? All they do is sell cars.

Dealerships usually don't know what they are talking about. That especially goes for the salesmen.

What happened to the awesome tail lights? That was the best part!

Of course, Honda took it around the 'Ring. Pretty impressive stuff! :)

That makes this the new fastest FF on the Nordschleife. The Megane 275 Trophy-R is 4 seconds down.

Yeah, I don't fully remember the regulations, but I believe they have to do this with a car off of the production line and not a development car. I could be wrong though.

But in general you can definitely see that the car has some insane potential and is bloody quick, so I think it would be too much of a hassle for Honda to repeat that, maybe even with a driver who knows how to take the Adenauer Forst properly and heel-toe

I would say tires are responsible for between 50-75% of any car's laptime on any circuit. This is why I dislike using lap times to compare street cars.

Also, Honda, why are using go pro mics in a 'professional' promotional video? Go pro microphones have ruined an entire generation of internet-published film.

I guess there's a giant difference between engineers and tech heads.

Keiichi Tsuchiya. That's all.

Can we all just take a second to let it sink in that a freakin' Civic is going to be coming out of the factory with more horsepower than an NSX ever did, and will be capable of nearly 170mph? Whoa.

Hopefully some clever company can provide us with that concept wing/taillight combo. I don't mind this one but that was so much better.

Wild times.

Complaining about a CIVIC Type R still being FWD is like saying SRT CHallengers should be AWD by now.....

Honda is famous for performance FWD cars, don't F with with Tradition...This thing is Quicker than a Alfa Romeo 4C on the Ring...

Speaking of FWD Ring times, looks like Nissan's "we want the Pulsar NISMO to have the fastest FWD time on the Ring" goal just got a bit harder.

As mentioned, tyre performance can come into play. The Meagne only has 275hp. Is it heavier than the Type-R? Is the aero better than the Megane? How are the gear ratios? Renault has more to play with to lower the time. im a Honda fan and have owned an EP3 SI. So, I'm glad it's back on top. Though, I've owned a 265 Trophy+, it needed stickier tyres, but it was fast as Is.

They plan on going back in a production car to lower the time even more.

First order of business: Flappy paddles. There's five to ten seconds right there, given how many times the driver had to leave it in gear rather than downshift or upshift, as he wrestled the car around. (yeah, sacrilege)

Also... 270 km/h on the back stretch. In a frigging Civic. That's insane.

Give it to the Ring Queen

No flappies, needs a better driver.

Why not stick in a Seq. Manual?

No flappies, needs a better driver.

He was already on it. Attacking as many curbs as possible in what seems like a pretty stiff and twitchy car.

The issues I saw were less ones of technique and more about car limits. The problem is, there were sections where the changes in camber and the need to keep the car on the road meant that he had to leave the shifter alone and keep his hands on the wheel. In those sections alone he might gain a few seconds a lap with a two-pedal manumatic.

It can still be sequential with the paddles.

Get over it, paddles on a pdk/dct are faster than us.

If you think a car cant be a drivers car with these new autos then you probably need a little more time with a manual; not an auto, a manual because shifting for yourself is a lesson.

I love my manual but Im no fool as to the benefits of faster shifting.

That's why when Porsche wanted a 'faster' 911 GT3, they went PDK.

But when they wanted a 'drivers car, for driving enjoyment' they put a manual in the Cayman GT4.

Sometimes a manual is preferred, and that's one persons opinion over the others. I prefer a manual, and that's probably all I will drive until I'm too old and decrepit to push the clutch pedal in.

Just make a DCT an option then.

You could be able to choose between the standard 6-Speed Manual or the 8-Speed Dual Clutch Transmission from the Acura TLX or something.
