hehe think i will! oh informative one. If your brain isnt juicy, your are google-oligist. Coz most of the dam time its quite hard to find exactly what your looking for.

Members list has been posted in the first post i have on the first page.

good then. I'm just waiting to see if I get banned again before I say I'm staying or not. I'm going to remove my subscription to the convo forum.

I dont actually google much, but from time to time I do surf honda-tech. I also read import magazines and books. One right next to me is called honda/acura engine performance by Mike shinoda. Its a bit out of date as it was written in 2002 but it still has good info that still matters today. You should check it out it may help you to understand some things.

So, since I'm still here I may as well post my after work guilty pleasure... Taking the long way home and taking it up to redline in fourth gear. I've said it before, but 100-110mph feels really good. I really need to stop doing this as there are tons of cops right around my area and I dont need any trouble...

Thats an amazing book, well recommended to anyone looking to into adding performance to their Honda/Acura engine. 👍

I share the same guilty pleasure as you, only instead of just reaching the redline, I turn the corner onto the highway to my house and try to see what speed I can reach before the first house which is about a quarter mile away. So far my best is 180-190 kmh, basically reaching the house as I slam into 5th, and have chirped it going into 3rd (god bless my stage 2 double plate clutch).

Sp33 - I love going into a parking lot, and seeing an import "representing" by parking diagnal in 2 spaces at the back, and pulling in beside him the same way. Usually I walk out to find one or more people in their Honda's have joined the club.

hahaha. 👍

Tomorrow im going to some drive training course thing, where they show you stuff like how to control slides and stuff, and then you give it a go..'n'stuff. Im planing on takin muh digicam, so hopefully tomorrow night ill have some vids up :)

i cant wait! theres just something about a wet skidpan... *dreamy look*

hehe ~Sp33~.

That sounds pretty cool, is it kind of like the Volvo snow safety driving course, only for wet weather?
Make sure to post up some pics, and give us some more info on it, especially on how you hooked up with it, because I wouldn't mind doing that myself.
Good idea, dreaming about wet skidpan...Bad idea, dreaming about a wet skid mark :yuck:

Alright, as promised:

Myeahs.. well, if i can get this vid posted you can see a couple of the setups they had. first one was an emergency lane change in the wet, second was a dual lane avoidance thing ( kinda like swerve out of your lane and then back in again). There was also an emergency stop thing, and a few other thangs as well 👍

http://www.imaginationstudios.net.au/uploads/driving_course.wmv

The vid is of the two lane changey ones. ( just of me in muh car) the first few times went realy well, at around 70 then 75 then 90 then it got to 100 and 110kph ( you raised your speed after every time you attempted). I took the first two aight, the third made the car get rather taily and the last couple are of me just losin' it hehe. FUNTIMES!.. I wasnt videoing and that terrible commentary was from the wierdo instructor guy who was kinda... yeah... lol.

theres a pic of muh car before it got a good bootin'

http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/8070/pict00025ni.jpg

Thats a pic of all the cars that participated. I have vids of almost all of em but its hard to find good hostin' space around here lol. If anyone wants any specific ones i can email em to you :)

In particular the car to the left of mine in the pic ( the far left) seemed to have trouble with all the events staged, it consistantly left cones splayed all out everywhere. It was either huge understeer or dynomo oversteer.. terrible terrible celica.

:) ~Sp33~

First off, Sp33, you have the cleanest, best looking EF sedan i've ever seen. Seriously, up here in Canada, you'd never find a Civic like yours in that kind of condition. Second, I love the video, I can't stop watching it, the guys voice saying "everybody, put your hands together..." is etched in my head. He kind of reminds me of Steve Irwin or something, "ain't she a beaut...".

Does your car have ABS? I've never heard of anything like that up here in, other then the competition they have on TV for Canadas worst drivers, where they put people through events like that. Did ya learn a lot, or just basically do it for fun?

Thanks for the complement :) No it doesnt have ABS ill see if i can host a sound file of the emergency stop thing i did, which was demonstrating what not to do:P

I learnt HEAPS, i couldnt recomend it enough. It wasnt just the driving that i learnt stuff with though, beside the fact that i simply love the way my car handles, just simple things like: never have your window halfway down.. i mean i would never have thought it a bad thing. but it was demonstrated how it can be lethal in a side collision. And other things like how to properly adjust mirrors to eliminate your blind spots.

Id love to do the next edition in the course but its 280$ :/ it would be so worth it but i dunno if i can afford to just now.

And that voice! truely terrible. hehe we dont all sound like that trust me.

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=57366&stc=1&d=1139968721

<-- dunno if that will work or not but thats the sound file i mention'ed. sorry for the low quality and the fact its in a zip folder but thats what i needed to do in order to load the dam thing.

~Sp33~

EDIT: seems i dont need the link its under here*points down*

Sounds interesting, might have to look into it in my own area.
Inform us though, whats so bad about having your window half way down?

And are you sure you don't all sound like that? Cause from what i've heard, I don't think I could tell your neighbour apart from Croc' Dundee

hehe, im soo not like that *rolls eyes* usually i dont notice the terribleness of someones accent but this guys really stood out. Um the window thing kinda has to be demonstrated. It just shows that in a side impact the edge of the glass can dig into your head :/ its much better if you have it up enough so your whole head hits it and the energy isnt just concentrated on your temple region.

thanks dude :) um, i got a gift voucher for xmas, so i didnt have to pay a cent XD, it was worth $285 though. And the next course which is more peformance driving is $295 :/ Does anyone wanna lend me $295? hehe

Well Im outta cash because I need to get my rear brakes re machined tomorrow, $180.....

And that video is really bad advertising for us aussies, only some of us sound like that guys. (sadly I am one of them, yes I am a bogan....)

A bogan?! :odd:
You crazy Aussies

Love the sound file too Sp33. How'd ya make it? I was thinking about making one for my car during accelleration, but other then using the mic on my cell phone, I wasn't sure how. Thanks about the warning on the window too, never though of that, guess i'll start using my sun roof more than my window from now on.

Did you have to do vehicle check before starting the course? And whats it called, so I know what to look for in the future.

I just used the mic on muh mobile. I set it to record and just wedged it in the ashtray so it didnt slide around. You can actually hear me assing around with it before i start accelerating.
I dont have a sunroof to use, but i have back windows ;) make the passengers suffer hehe. Plus my model has the power window things on the driver's side door so you can control all 4 windows from the drivers seat. I thought that was pretty kewlies.
And i did a basic check ( oil, coolant, brake, window washer fluid lol....) but the only thing they specified was to up your tyre pressure from the recommended to low 30's psi, slightly more in the front for front engined cars. And the course is actually a one off thing that Ian luff does at Oran Park (race track) i havent heard of it anywhere other then in NSW :/ you can check out their website though, at www.ianluff.com.au and you could probibly email and ask if theres anything around your area, surely theyd know where their competition / other companys like theirs are.

~Sp33~

Hmm, never thought of putting my cell in the ashtray, I was just thinking passenger seat or something, thanks for idea.
I have the controls on my drivers side door as well, its nice, but whats weird is I have the lock out switch on my door too to stop the passenger from putting their window down. I only find it weird because I can reach my passenger side window from the drivers seat without even leaning over, and i'm only 6' tall.
Thanks for the site though, i'm actually going to check it out and maybe email them about something in Canada. Is there really as many hot girls there as there is in the pictures?!?!

I'll end this post with a couple of shots of my dream car, and dream car wannabe's...

ooow.. aaaah.

That spoon civic was muh fav car in gt2. But it lost alotta its flava in 3 and (is it even in?:) 4. I loved the way you just pointed and accelerated.. no need for this braking crap lol. and its tenacious redline was mad also.

I liked it in GT2, its where I found out about it, but it wasn't until GT3 that I fell in love. One night I almost beat my friend with the Spoon Civic against one of the F1's on the complex string, I even pulled out of the last turn ahead of him, but couldn't make it too the finish line before he caught up. In GT4, the FF physics engine really messes the car up, just like all the other FF cars in the game, but its still one of my favorites.

Its just the fact that this little Honda Civic HB has a redline that would make most motor bikes jealous, but looks like nothing more then something your sister drives to school (if you had a sister, don't know if ya do, but if ya do, is she hot? ). After watching a lot of video's on the car, it seems like an amazing track car, with softer suspension to get the back around corners easy, making a great handling track car with loads of NA power on tap. Definitly one of my favorite Honda's of all time, and as of right now, probably my #1 choice for greatest.

LOL gay frat partay at mclaren mans house hehe.. where do you live? ;) ;) lol.. No realy.. why are his pants around both of your heads?

Id love the Spoon civic a whole lot more if it where sedan. XD

AS IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT A BOGAN IS!!!! LOL

Here is a couple of bogans, me on the left with the can in my hand and one of my mates on the right. (we were so smashed that night)

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c132/1990_Prelude/DSC01926.jpg

i cant believe i posted that....

I honestly have no clue what a bogan is, unfortuantly, I don't think i've ever heard Croc Dundee, or Steve Irwin say it, so its all new too me.

Nice pic, you look normal, but your friend appears to have a limp wrist, if ya know what I mean.

@Sp33 - A Spoon sedan? I like the idea of a sporty 4 door Honda Civic, but I couldn't see it being a good platform for Spoon Sports, especially with the way they like to tune their suspensions, I couldn't see it working well with the sedans weight distribution.

Bogun = Australian Redneck :D

Try and find the song Nobody Like A Bogun by Area 7

It will clear up any doubt :P

Anyway, seriously considering a K series swap in the near future. 150wkw stock for the same amount of money it would take to build my B16 to that same level..

Problem is all the information I can find on them is confusing because of all the american smog rubbish that they have to build their engines around :irked:

Seriously he isnt like that all the time, we were totally smashed and there was strip music on the radio so he started it off, thankfully he stopped at the boxers.

Yes a bogan is an australian redneck good way to summarise it.

anyway back on topic now...

Do some research on both engines first, horsepower isn't everything with Honda engines, so make sure to compare what you get stock with the K, and what you could add to your B for the same money. A flywheel, throttle body, cam gears and pulleys may not add more horsepower, but combined will help get your B through its range faster then a K series could. Also, decide on how far you want to go with your car performance wise, because you'll find the B16 has a strong backing in the tuner market, where the K series is just finally coming to life for parts selection and availability.

~Sp33~
Isnt the K'series heavier as well?.. you dont wanna upset the balance...

Good point. Heavier engine means more work in shifting weight to the back.

Honestly, i've always seen the smaller hatchbacks performing better with the smaller litred engines, especially on the track. Normally, I only see the larger K and H series engines dropped into Honda's built for the drag strip, but since the car is basically your project, its all a matter of personal preference. Personally, i'd rather scream around the track playing in the higher rpm's the B series will allow you to do. :sly:

Whoa, time to revive this thread.

Went on a cruise the other day was a good day out. We went up to the barossa (local wine making region/hills) there were a good 16 preludes cruising along with an MX5, Supra, a civic and a Sprinter. I was second in the train of the cruise and it was good being up the front and looking back for about a kilometre of just pure 'ludes :D
