Thank the both of you guys for the kind words. :)

Now to complete his garage I need to make:
1947 Chevrolet Fleetline Sedan
1949 Ford Crestliner
1970 Dodge Challenger convertible
1973 Dodge Challenger

I'm not serious about that, I just wanted to brag. :P

Hell, worth braggin' indeed. That's quite the garage!

You can actually complete the garage if you look around and are willing to take the challenge. A '70 Dodge Challenger ragtop could be available from JL or you could do one from a HW casting for cheap, Matchbox Lesney did a 72-74 Challenger, albeit pretty horrid but I don't think you can find that model elsewhere; the Fleetline is, well, there, you're already making a wooden one, and M2 makes an amazing 49 Ford but as far as I know, it doesn't come in Crestliner trim, so that's where you'd enter. You couldd also make one from a HW Shoebox, but that's a business coupe and doesn't come with a rear bumper so that could be a problem.

Sony: Yep, balsa wood to be exact. 👍

Cano: I have a bunch of JL Challengers, but I didn't know they made a convertible. My grandpa actually had another 1970 Dodge Challenger, but he realized he wouldn't get around to restoring it, so he gave it along with all the parts to my dad and I to finish.
I knew about the Lesney Challenger, but it's not too bad if I remember right. It's not great I know though. Shoebox is the only Crestliner-esque 1:64 car I know of.

Surprise, I digged around and indeed:

In Crestliner trim. I did not remember about this one. One less to go, just make the other cars (:

As for my projects for the muscle car theme in the next meeting, I've already destroyed and stripped the cars. Two JLs, two Matchbox Lesney oddly, and one HW. I also popped open a slew of donors I had lying around. Will post pics soon.

Good call!👍 Painting a wood design onto a vehicle is one thing, but using real wood to design it, now thats what i call quality!👍 Perfect way to start if your trying to make a realistic replica!👍

Sony: Yep, balsa wood to be exact. 👍

I never took up the Wood Fabrication class at school before, but I know Balsa is a popular choice for wood-working since it not only can be thin, it is also notably more flexible than most types of wood. 👍

About the paint stripper in a can, i ment to ask this earlier but if i get it, do i have to be outside to use it? Is it full of harsh chemicals?:ill:

Is it full of harsh chemicals?:ill:

Boy, you shouldn't be smelling anything that comes flying out of any aerosol can... even air fresheners.

But shouldn't it be obvious enough that paint stripper shouldn't be inhaled already? Think about it. The stuff dissolves paint, so imagine what that'll do to you if you breathed it in.

With that out of the way, if you have a washroom no one likes to use or really cares about (like a crummy basement washroom), that has an exhaust fan... you can do what I do and make a box with a filtered opening in the back. You can do all your spray work inside that without getting pigment on the walls or floor, but at the same time, all the fumes with be drawn out (after you shut the door when you finish spraying).

Yea that was what i was thinking to. There are harsh chemicals, then there are harsher chemicals that can be deadly.:scared: The way i see it, paint stripper is one of the harsher chemicals.:ill:

I just put the car in a cardboard box with the top cut off and spray it. The stuff I use sprays out almost stream like so you don't need to be right up close to it. Used to do it in my parents garage (it hardly gives off any fumes) but now I have to do it on my balcony at the apartment.

Blew apaart a bunch of donors I had lying around now that I opened the cars for the muscle car contest at the HW meeting. Here are the poor saps:

And here is the loot:

From top: lift unit from the orange lifter that will go to a rare made-in-Mexico lift that Ahmed found, grille shell and bumper from the orange truck, injected engine from the white and orange thing, rubber wheels and tires (with gears) from the slot car chassis, three blackwall axles from the red truck, big and small 4-spoke, Tomica-rip-off blaack wheels from the red Formula car, white big-ass and little Torq-thrust-style Co-Molded 5 from the white and orange thing, three star-shaped wheels from the orange truck (bought it just for it's wheels), red-stripe Co-Molded 5 wheels off the Pontiac Rageous, small Co-Molded 5s off the US-flagged Purple Passion (which has been stripped off it's paint and will be turned into a traditional custom), and 5 spokes off the orange lift.

I just broke basically the best drill bit I've ever had and put a fair gouge in mother's kitchen table too. :scared:
Pictures later of what I was working on.

Edit:

This is what I was working on. Hot Wheels got the wheels all wrong on these cars. So,
I put the wheels from the orange one on the black one, from the white one to the orange one, and black one to the white one.

And just took the tape off this one. It's inspired by the flat black hood and roof on the $2000. A slight bit of detailing is soon to come.

Wow, I love it Zach.

Which reminds me... I've got to pick one of those S2000s up! They look great.

I have the "$2000", but I didn't know it had black roof & hood?

That is actually so money, it's unbelievable.👍

Pfff, some collector you are.

I thought about dragging that out even longer, but I decided it just wasn't worth the time.

Which tape did you use? Looks great, clean lines. IRL wheels?

I use 1/2" Tamiya tape for all of my masking. I love it and will never use anything else.
Yup, those great wheels. I have the chrome as well as the grey ones, but they will never look as great as they do in black.
Thinking about actually painting the grey wheels black tonight and then painting the spokes silver to give a more realistic look.

Oh. Yeah, I like the grey one the best. It comes with bronze PR5s, and even those looked great.

Leave them black on that car.

Oh yeah, I definitely will. They're perfect.

I got it purely as a investment. It's cool, but I like this & this better. :P Now those two, I got them for ME!

Yeah, that's why I want that factory set $uper I mentioned in the other thread.
Eh, the Olds is okay. But I've been wanting that Datsun forever and I know there's no way I could keep it in its little plastic prison.

Love the customs McZ. 👍 The black Aventador's new wheels suit the car much better than the original ones that come with it. Gives it a stealthy look. 👍

And that S2K is awesome! Now it needs a HKS sticker or Amuse on the window or, if possible, on the sides. But it great with or without. 👍

That S2000 looks really, really good, McZ. Finally someone put the IRL wheels to good use, I can't believe it took this long for a set to show up in a wheelswap in here. I would have done it ages ago if they were available here -_- the flat black looks really cool too.
