Thanks Cano 👍, your friends Z432 looks awesome!, really like the stacked exhaust and the other touches (aerial etc). It's got me thinking.. how much easier it would have been for me to start with the Z-Whiz as a base, instead of the car i used. :indiff:  I'm thinking of copying the aerial (not extended) and also adding a bonnet badge after seeing this.

You should be thankful you started with the modern version, the Z-Whiz is one of themost flawed castings of a 240Z I've ever seen. Trust me, I have 4. If you had to fix stuff with the new one, you would have had to recreate half the car if you used a Z-Whiz.

He used it because the theme for the contest was restoration, and the car was really, really tattered. He took the theme to the extreme, though. You really should see all the stuff he modified to make the car look more like a 240Z; Lots and lots of metal went away.

I kinda want to make a car with a big Wu-Tang Clan logo on it. What vehicle do you guys think would suit that best?

Whatever you end up doing, I'll want to take ahammer to it after you're done.

That looks really good. But ouch on the Atari Motorhome.
It looks so 🤬 good on that car though!

Well done, McZ, well done. 👍

P.S. Wu-Tang Clan ain't nothing 🤬 with.

Thank you for the kind words. ;)
In fact, I just got the car out to take some better, more professional photos of it. :D

I knew it was only a matter of time before someone said that.

Actually, I think I may just make a music series. I wonder if it would be worth all the money spent on decal paper and programs to have a bunch of eclectic music-themed cars.

I know something like that could be very tacky, but I wouldn't make them like that.
I wasn't just going to plaster artist/band names all over a bunch of cars.
The best way I can explain it is as if I were to make the car look it was the artist/band reincarnated into a car.

i.e. An all-black Cadillac for Johnny Cash, a bloody chopper for Slayer, or a Camaro for the Dead Milkmen.

You don't "paint" that stuff over the paint, you print it on water-decal paper and apply the decal before you clear-coat the car.

I just didn't realize that was an option.

My modelling experience comes from Warhammer 40k, so I'm familiar with painting and transfers.

I love music, I can't be half an hour without tunes. Yes I'm picky (screw you AOS) but I love it. But I haaaaaaaaaate themed cars and customs with a passion, specially the ones that are nothing but tampos. Music, TV stuff, sports, you name it. If one ever falls into my hands, first thing I do is strip it. I can't even see them.

That surprises me, it looks as though the only metal taken away was the front bib area, iv'e filed a lot of metal away with the later Z (both sets of wheelarches, lights and bib. I guess the alterations to the Z-Whiz must be subtly done.

I agree about music theme cars, but i do quite like that Ozzy Osbourne van.

I know what you mean, I really dislike them as well. But I just feel like mine would be different.
Believe me, the last thing I want to do is advertise the artist all over the car.
I want to make something that lovers of music will understand and appreciate where other people simply would not grasp the significance.

Another idea would be an Impala with a little 409 decal on it and surf board sticking out of the truck.

These F40 wheels on that Testarossa? They'll fit perfect.

Sorry, I dunno what was up with my phone when I took these. Stupidly, there is no white balance adjustments, only exposure. :grumpy:

Don't do the Testa Rossa, it's quite rare with those wheels. Also the Cuda is hideous with those wheels, they are all kinds of wrong, in both ends.

The more I look at the car, the more I find myself agreeing with you guys about the...rear wheels. I actually like the look of the front wheels. However, I forgot I had these:

all the freaking difference in the world. They're even period correct. Centerline Autodrags front, Halibrand/Ansens on the rear. Very pro-stockish. Cool. Now detail.

When I start doing decals I'm taking them to a print shop to have them laser printed. Don't want to deal with the ink jet "must clear coat before using" decals. Just seems like a wasted hassle.

I'm going to try without the clear coat first since I didn't order what they recommended. I only have a bottle of Micro Set and Micro Sol, though I forget why I even need the Set.

You still have to clear them if you laser-print them. If you don't, the ink will peel off when you manipulate them. Been there -_-
