TO ALL THE SPOILD ASS BRATS complaining about the resoloution.

I'm perfectly happy with my NR2k3 on my PC only being able to run 800x600x16 safely w/o crashing instantaneously. It is still the best looking game I have ever played period and I could care less that the res is PS2 style and the color depth is at the minimum of 16. I'm not a millionair and just owning a 360 or a <4 year old computer would be a blessing for me. I'm greatfull I can even have a PS2, LET ALONE A PC AND A SPORTS CAR AND A DFP AND TO GO TO COLLEGE AT THE SAME TIME!!! I know several people who couldn't afford that for their life, they have a hard time affording food to eat and still get by!!!!!!!

1024x600x32 is amazing and unrealistically good in my opinion and wasn't even a realistic idea a few years ago. So you biznatches complaining about how low that is are just plain spoild ass wipes who have probably never had to sacrafice anything to afford the things you want or had to give up something you love just to afford to go to the grocery store. QUIT COMPLAINING YOU RICH *****ES!!!!!

"Always see it on t.v./Or read it in the magazines/Celebrities who want sympathy/All they do is piss and moan/Inside the rolling stone/Talkin' about how hard life can be/I'd like to see them spend a week/Livin' life out on the street/I don't think they would survive/If they could spend a day or two/Walkin' in someone else's shoes/I think they'd stumble and they'd fall/They would fall... (fall)/Lifestyles of the rich and the famous/They're always complainin'/Always complainin'.../If money is such a problem/Well they've got mansions/Think we should rob them" Lifestyles of the Rich and the Famous - Good Charlote

BURN IN HELL ASS WIPES!!!!!!!!!

I thought 720p(which my TV doesn't support anyway :grumpy: ) just meant 720 lines of resolution, progressive scanned? If Microsoft did promise 720p and if it doesn't offer 720p, that would be a big deal. That would be like promising true 6.1 surround and delivering simulated 6.1 surround. It either is or it isn't.

Anyways, back on topic. :) I was hearing about this X360 glitch all day at work today. I think I found a pretty good article on it:

ABC News
Microsoft Says Most Customers Are Satisfied

Despite testing and other quality control measures, Rojas believes there's no substitute for getting the product in the hands of the consumer.

"You can do lots of beta testing," he said, referring to the final stage of quality control for software and electronics. "But it's only once you have it out there in front of hundreds of thousands of people, that you're going to find out these little problems that are very hard to discover."

Rojas also said many of the Xbox 360s were sold to "hardcore" gamers who tend to be quite Internet savvy and very vocal in cyberspace.

It's a sentiment echoed by Xbox senior product manager Molly O'Donnell.

"The vast majority of Xbox 360 owners are having an outstanding experience with their new consoles," she said. "As you might expect, we're hearing some reports of consoles not working as expected. But the important thing to note here is that the call rate is well below what you'd expect for a consumer electronic product of this complexity."

O'Donnell added that Microsoft is prepared for the calls they've gotten and have plenty of stock to replace any units that need replacing.

"It's unfortunate and it's important that we get working consoles for those few people who are having problems," she said. "We want to get them playing and happy and buying games!"

Doesn't sound like a major issue..... unless ABC has ties to Microsoft. :DClick here for the full article.

Stop making it sound like I'm saying "no one gives a crap" like you keep doing. I'm speaking for me, not others.

WHO GIVES A CRAP!!!!!

Does that not imply that no one gives a crap? You are asking the question.

I will look elsewhere for non-crashing 720p Xbox 360 games.

Oh, who'd a thought more nit picky context comments. But, since when does asking a question imply that I'm speaking for everyone else though??? Here, let me just get right to the brass tax with it......

I DON'T CARE!!!! ME, NO ONE ELSE, JUST ME TALKING. IF THE GAME IS FUN AND ENTERTAINING, I COULD CARE LESS WHAT THE RESOLUTION IS!!!!

Get it??? Stop being a prick about this. I get the fact that you have nothing better to do than blabber and complain about a console systems resolution. Thats plainly obvious. Its also plainly obvious after your "screen caps after the TV" comment that you have no clue about how that resolution is actually produced, and why this really isn't a big deal.

Internally, in the system, the game is rendered at 1024x600. Then the Xilleon display engine that ATI uses thats built into the GPU scales the output to your selected output resolution. So, if you want the output to be 720p, its coming out of the X360 at 1280x720x60. If you want 1080i, its coming out at 1920x1080x30.

There are probably a lot of games doing this. Helps them get much faster frame rates, which works very well in racing games and other high action games. In a slower paced game with less action, like an RPG, or Tiger Woods, they can get away with rendering at 1280x720, or higher, that won't hurt anything. Slower action can accept slower frame rates. Why do you think many TV dramas are shot in 1080i, but most sporting events are shot in 720p??? You get 30fps in the slow moving shows, and 60fps in fast paced stuff, like football and NASCAR.

But, either way, it still doesn't change the fact that the output exiting the X360 IS IN FACT 720p or 1080i. Its NOT coming out at 1024x600, like you seem to think. If the X360 WAS outputing video at that resolution, then you might have a case. But, its not, so you don't. Fact is, if you have an HDTV monitor set display 720p, its going to receive a 720p signal. End of story. Get over it.

1024x600 is not 720p.

I am sorry that you feel this way. I am also feel sorry for Microsoft, who is not sticking to what they originally said, that every 360 game must support 720p. If PGR3 actually supported 720p, I would consider buying a Xbox 360. Since people do not give a crap anyway, let's go back to the original topic of 360 games crashing.

I saw a post over at Kotaku that his copy of Gun locked up and lost his save point. I also read a post that Call of Duty 2 was lagging pretty bad, but that's probably to do with Xbox Live overcrowded and not the software or hardware.

No, but the 1280x720x60 signal and image that ends up at your monitor is. You're still confusing internal rendering and external output. This isn't new for games, trust me.

You're sorry that I can actually enjoy a fun game regardless of specs and resolution??? Gee, I know, for someone as "half-empty" as yourself, I can see how fun and excitement is cause for alarm. For me, its not. No sympathy or sorrow needed. Render the game at 320x240 and display it on a 10 year old 13" TV for all I care, its still fun. You apparently like to complain more than have fun though, so this whole thing isn't shocking.

You just don't get it. Its so amazing to me. You are actually downing an entire system just because one game is talked about for not internally rendering a game at a certain resolution. WAAAAHHH!!!!! MOMMY, make them stop. I WANT MY PIXELS!!!!!!! AAHHH!!!!!!

Like thats actually possible. You are the only one it seems, on this entire forum, who actually cares about this. I'm just trying to get you to see how silly and meaningless this "problem" you have with the game is. But, I can see now, there is no hope for your understanding. And so it ends.

***BACK ON TOPIC***

I bet this game is just crashing because the system is expecting the game to render at 1280x720, but because its not, the CPU doesn't know what to do. Thats got to be it. Wait, was that on topic???

I bet once the game finally arrives in European nations, the games bugs will be fixed. Thats one thing for us Europeans to look forward to, which is some of the bugs and gliths getting fixed folks.

If there is a bug, can't we just download a patch? I've had no problems with my 360. At all. I'm loving it. :D One of my friends said his froze during Call of Duty 2 and as well with PGR3. Apparently he's been on hold for 20 mins right now with MS Support. :ill:

I may have always brought the sony consoles, but I still would never miss out on any of the Xbox series of consoles.

Exactly.

I very doubt European consoles will be fixed in this short amount of time, because I suppose shops have them in stock already to sell on the release date? Maybe there is a patch to fix them problems, maybe...

Don't worry folks if any of your Xbox 360's are faulty or games crashing on it. Well GameSpot has heard about it. And may pass the stories on to Microsoft.

One thing the PS2 had on launch which the Xbox 360 doesn't have at launch is the ability to destroy the crap launch games by spinning and scatching all the discs. This therefore makes the PS2 superior*

*Sarcasm.

I haven't played or seen PGR3 in real life but I'd bet on the whole GT4 gives a better illusion of realism (if you get your eyes slightly out of focus... or wear Sony tinted specs) but PGR3 will undoubtably look far better. Seems like Sony fanboys are always the first to point out small flaws in Xbox games, yet ignore the glaring ones in Sony games... What gets my goat is 30fps, I don't give a crap about the resolution as I have a crappy TV but regardless I'd deffinately value 60fps far more. Racing games are all about speed! You would think this would be an even bigger priority being an action filled arcade racer.

I'll probably get a 360 when they get cheaper (Hope their busy making RSC3 :D ) and maybe a PS3 if they release any interesting games.

I read that article and laughed.

My power-brick has been sitting directly behind the 360, getting hot air blown onto/into it, for the last week. I didn't know the brick had fans in it until last night..

Never had an overheating issue, but I moved it to be safe.

Actually, guys, I just ran into a problem as well with my X360. After starting up PDZ, I got black screen, and that was that which soon led me to learn that this problem was on the news with many other new X360 owners. 2 days, and now this.

Hopefully, according their support, they will send me a new X360 system with a new PDZ.

Yay my PGR3 is being packed at the moment, i bet the people packing it. Want a go on it. :)

1024x600 isn't 16x9. Bizarre said it's true 720p and that the dev kits could produce images in different resolutions.

Wow my PGR3 has been posted a cople hours ago, aswell as another Xbox 360 game. And a spare joypad, i am so stoked about PGR3 on Friday w00t.

Problems in the past doesnt make new problems dissapear. And the problems with psp and ps2 didn't prevent them from working as soon as you got it out the box....

crashing is far worse than dead pixels. People are quick to point out the past as if its going to fix the present or future.

"Hey its ok my$600 Crapbox360 breaks down since all my conosle broke down." I know that statement will get sand in somoene's vagina but I'm just saying....

Reason #1 i will never by a launch console..ever..

I've never heard of a next gen console..being 100% at launch...

Except for cartridge systems...
