How come there aren't any D1GP Courses on GT5?

What do you think?

  • Yes I agree; Gran Turismo needs dedicated D1 courses.

I would also like to request Mantorp Park, which is located in Sweden. Gatebil drifting and various other events are hosted here.
It also has a NHRA approved 3/16 mile (1000ft.) drag strip so it's suitable for racing drivers, drag racers and drifters, everyone should benefit. :)

Oh yeah, to be honest this isn't related in D1GP, but this track has got a great, lengthy history in motorsport.

I would pay 20$ for each drift track and 30$ for Kawabata's Silvia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll go against the grain here, they shouldn't bring dedicated drift courses...

Unless they're also decent and fairly well known race tracks, multi-purpose tracks in other words. Autopolis is a great example, though under the OPs definition it's not a dedicated drift track despite being suggested.

They're not discriminating against drifting, using the rallying example there's randomly generated and rather poor stages (not long enough, scenery is poor) and random laps which sort of misses the point of WRC not to mention there's a massive lack of premium rally cars and standard just doesn't cut the mustard like we'd all like to see a premium Mk IV Supra, 240SX etc.

I would propose they include more circuits which have a rallycross variant as well as those which are race tracks with drift sections as well regardless of the fact that they may not exist in respective series. I thought Route X was insulting as DLC, they could have made something much more interesting and a generic dragstrip instead. More circuits which can be used to more then just standard circuit racing would be great additions to the game.

Tweeted Kaz with a link to this page.

Don't forget Sekia Hills!

Sekia would be the nice... but probably the bad habit of "shut down" circuits with invisible walls would mess 97% of the whole fun.

Now, THAT called my attention. D1GP or not, its very amusing:

Castlefin Kart Track.

Stills, im not that desperated for D1GP tracks than im for Touges. Yesterday i was wondering how would be able to drift in Eiger K Trail, but pavemented.

Meihan is a kart track, many of the famous "drifting" tracks started out as kart tracks as well. There are karts in GT5. Logically these tracks would be a hit in the drifting and karting and ideally they would put them in, however I don't think any developer thinks like that :/

I supposed when I originally was suggesting the idea, I loosely used my choice of words.

When I suggested the idea of dedicated drift tracks, my intention ultimately was for courses that have been known to be "drift tracks" such as Ebisu, SUGO, etc. to have the focus around drifting but also be a multi-purpose track so that those who wanted to race on it, could do so, those who wanted to do drifting or whatever, could as well.

I 90% agree with your second statement. Though I am not much of a rallycross kind of person, your average joe may appreciate the feature more as there is also a severe lacking of rallycross-type of racing on the game as well. Which could open the doors to another market for Gran Turismo.

Really glad there is participation in this thread guys 👍.

There should definately be D1 courses on GT5.

Maybe the clique from drifters is smaller then the Racers, but still it's not the same is it? (Totally other sport, of which a lot of people have never heard of it even, maybe that should change.) I think there would be a lot of drifters from every platform (PC, Xbox) that would switch. I know i would.

Besides that, it would boost the Drifting itself as well. We use Fuji a lot, to do the D1 section, as well as Tsukuba.

Please Polyphony Digital, and Kazunori Yamauchi... We beg you! :D

I'd be happy with anything new with corners... Oval X was a MAJOR fail .
I also agree on nk4e, there should be a license test to learn how to drift. I hope we will get more in Gran Turismo 6. I'm pretty sure there will be more, but this will stay a race game.

I think Ebisu isn't a very good example because it doesn't work well for racing with a full size grid as there's not alot of safe overtaking points and there's a limit on the type of car you can take on it, if they're going to make a specialised drift track that is suitable for only a few cars, I'd rather have a Fujimi Kaido rip off (I don't care if they're stealing it from Forza, make it in Europe and nobody will know ). A Fujimi rip off would also be like a tarmac rally stage, win-win you cater to 2 niches at once, sure course editor tries to give us a taste of this but it's so limited and bland.

Rallycross wasn't a great example, the main point I'm driving at it is they can cater well for the main crowd with a large circuit capable of accommodating a large range of cars but which also has an appeal to another audience. Silverstone seems perfect for this, given we only get 1 track every so often it needs to be something special an Ebisu would be as disappointing for serious racing fans (imagine LMPs or a full GT1 grid on Ebisu :scared:) as Route X was for many of us.

In other words I'd rather them give us another world class circuit which is also used for drifting, or go the whole way and make something completely unique to the series.

Just imagine IF we had a D-Spec in GT6!!!
Separate discipline, Drift licence, tracks and more more more.....
With voice comments of Manabu Suzuki + Animation of Keiichi Tsuchiya between events as a teacher in your drift garage +
I would stick for that game for THE REST OF MY LIFE

That would be good for beginner drifters, but what about people that already know how to drift?

They should add a great amount of precision drifting challenges and other skill demanding stuff for the drifting enthusiasts, perhaps.

What's this?????????????
SuzukaCircuit_34.jpg

I noticed this yesterday when I was taking some shots at Suzuka. I was standing on the bridge, trying to look down at the track below, and saw this off in the distance. It's located on the right hand side as you are heading over the bridge (left hand side, right by the corner just before you go under the bridge)

Is this a cart track located at Suzuka? It looks like it would be a badass drift track...going clockwise, that dogleg before the hairpin is perfect for setting up massive entries.

I know, but it doesn't really look like either to me. It's Suzuka south course, i'm pretty sure anyway.

Edit: It does look like it would be a good to drift.

Lol who cares what it's called, it looks like a boss drift track!!! And I want it! You'd think it would be pretty easy for PD to create that track...they already have the license, part of it's already rendered (not in HD though, I know), and a lot of the background would already be rendered.

They might not have the licence. Tey may have the licence for Suzuka, but the south course could need a seperate licence, it could be used for testing new cars or anything and they don't want it putting in to a game.
