How do you intend to play GT5? (HDTV-SDTV/PC monitor/wheel/controller)

On this,

Hp 24" Monitor with built in speakers, Fanatac GT3 V2 (although i also have a Fanatec Turbo S for Forza 3 on xbox) , Fanatec clubsport pedals. Playseat race room.

I used to have a G25 and in comparison the Fanatec is so much easier to drive.

I cant comment on the g27.

I have Played on larger HDTV monitor but I always feel that the 24 situated where it it gives the best sense of precise car control and the wheel in my hand matches up to the wheel in the games perfectly.

I also have a Buttkicker for the vibration which is absolutely amazing, but its far too annoying for the neighbours. Not only did the people below me feel it but also the people one flat along and below so unfortunantly i cant use it.

Quick question. Anyone knows if I buy PC LCD that supports 3D for PC gaming, will it work for PS3 as well? Someone can test it out?

I would suggest you to pick a wheel stand pro, they're not sold around here but I found a local version which is almost equal and provided the very same solution, a foldable rig which can be hidden in your closet and be set up in less than 30 seconds. It really worths the money buddy, go for it if you can.
Given I have about 3.5 ft between the foot of my bed and my TV, even a folding rig won't work. I also have no desire to move my big tv from my room to the living room, since I tend to multitask way too much and like to have everything in one area...
That and my closet is full of model car and aircraft kit boxes lol...

I'll be playing with a DualShock for the foreseeable future, sadly :(

I used to have a Logitech Force Feedback wheel for GT3 (a long long time ago now!) but no idea where it is now after moving from home, then my parents moving house while I was at uni, lol. It's probably gathering dust somewhere now!

The Dual Shock isn't so bad, but my god I wish I could play GT5 with an Xbox pad instead, the triggers are far more comfortable, more solid and progressive, the Dual Shock's are soo wooly and loose it's not even funny. I'm not a fan of using the second analogue stick for accelerating/braking either, it just doesn't work for me, especially when you need to make tiny adjustments in a corner.

I'd love a G25 but money and practicality are in the way on those fronts. The only downside with a pad is that GT doesn't allow you to adjust the controller steering settings, like Race Pro on the Xbox does. That game allows you to alter every aspect, the speed of response, the dead zone, and tons of other stuff, so that (if you're good at delicate touches of the analogue stick) you can really have total control, be able to control mega twitchy slides with precision and react ridiculously fast, faster than with a wheel to be honest.

I've noticed in GT5 Prologue with the F1 car sometimes the response does feel ever so sluggish and can contribute to running wide and messing up a lap. I just hope that in GT5 Polyphony will really let us adjust the stick sensitivity just a bit more for those of us without the practical means of having a proper wheel set-up. Hopefully they'll also fix the oversensitivity of the accelerator trigger as well. In Prologue it registers about half way then has the tiniest margin between about 50% throttle and full throttle, when really the trigger has a lot more movement left in it. Slightly frustrating and it forces Dual Shock players to put traction control on, to at least level 1 or 2 to negate this super-sensitivity. Grrr!

Rant over!

Geting back on topic, Dual Shock and Panasonic 1080p for me!

Like this, I'm seeing some pretty kickass setup here, I wish I had a better cockpit but there isn't really a practical place to hide it without hauling it up and down the house, so I'll stick with this for now, which isn't bad.

YOU ARE A GENIUS! i have been looking for a practical way to secure a steering wheel while sitting comfortably on my sofa. i have toyed with the idea of making one (but it would probably fall apart knowing my diy skills!). now that i've seen this pic of yours, i can now do exactly the same as i have one of those stands (apart from i'll be on a sofa ):)

Didn't know where to post this question but this seems the best thread.

I've got an 80 gig fat ps.
I recently bought the turtle beach headset which requires a USB.
With my DFGT and PS eye I need 3 ports, I only got 2.
Any ideas guys.

You have 4 USB at the front. Or am I missing something?

A multi usb extender may work,I don't know if the PS OS is compatible with that, but that could be a solution,if that doesn't work you should get some bluetooth headphones or think better in your next headphone purchase.

@Gejost some fat PS3's only comes with 2 usb's,that was before the slim took over.

Thanks guys. The headset is mainly for nightimr use anyways.
Good headset btw.

Edit. Definately 2 ports. Unless anything hiding behind the back lol.

I have a fat PS3 (from launch) with 4 USB ports in the front, did they change that? You have only 2?

They did for the Slim, it only has two ports. Damn i wish my fat PS3 didn't YLOD :( but at least now i have alot more hard drive space! :D

I will have my G27 with a homemade rig and racing seat.I might upgrade to a HDTV by november.Only time will tell..

I got a second fat PS3 that died. Got the first one replaced, they were so friendly not to charge me anything even though the warranty just expired. The second fat PS3 however didn't last long at all. Got YLOD right after I got me a PSN card of 20 euros, bought me a PSN game, Fallout 3 GOTY, and shared some PSN games. Man, I wasn't happy with this! I couldn't believe it, again!?:) I already lost all my shares and savegames with the first PS3. So I'm getting me a Slim one with GT5. 👍

Will be ordering a G27 in the next few days which I'm really looking forward to.

How am I getting away with this? Well, I keep telling myself that every single person in my family will be convinced that it was worth the expenditure when they drive the Jaguar XJ13 around an empty Nordschleife using the G27 in cockpit view. I don't for a second believe it's going to happen that way but that is what I keep telling myself.

Samsung 24inch PC monitor, G27 wheel and probably the standard edition game. I would be absolutely out of my mind to pay £150 for a game with a free toy car and a magazine. As much as i do want it.

I got my newly purchased PS3 slim, just for GT5. Got my 32" 1080p HD TV but no steering wheel for the PS3 so I'm going to have to make do with the Dualshock 3 controller until I can buy a decent wheel. And the GT5 I will be playing is the signature edition all in the comfort of my bedroom.
