@dave_sz: sometimes I sit like that but I'll probibly move closer considering my PS Eye won't reach that far

I just got my G27 last night. Still need to find a good place to mount it as it moves the little table around too much.

Now GT5P is a new game even though I have had it for almost 2 years. Now I suck at it. Still need to learn how to use a wheel. But having a steady table would make it easier.

Bring on GT5!

Gosh your must be a rich guy, because it really cost too much over here in New Zealand.

Gonna have to use my controller instead.

I bought a G25 last year when they were on offer at £99.99 from Play.com but it's been in the box since a week after it arrived. I need to get a stand to set it up on before the release of GT5. At the moment the Wheel Stand Pro seems to be the best bet but does anyone have any suggestions of other stands, or indeed, reasons why not to go for the Wheel Stand Pro?

Cheers

I think any non-HDTV doesn't give justice to GT5's graphics, although I've got no room for a steering wheel in my living room, I will be using the controller on a 55" Samsung LED HDTV & 5.1 Surround sound :) can't wait!

32" lg hdtv with for now at least dualshock controller...soon to be g25 wheel, regardless of my lack of real world experience lol:lol:

Sony KDL40W5500 and Logitech G2x on coffeytable rigged on two very old school 20 kg weights for added height in front of an IKEA Klippan doubleseat couch.
A Playseat or Visualracer would be nice.

-Sony KDL-40W4100

Motion enhancer on high. Motion enhancer is the best thing to happen to gaming since HDTV. If you are looking to upgrade your TV make sure it has this feature.

-Logitech G27

I will replace my DFGT if in the control setup of GT5 there is in fact a G27. I heavily researched the Fanatec wheels and I'm going with logitech this time but next time I might do the whole clubsport bling setup as it should be avalible and by then their products will have withstood the test of time.

-Playseat Evolution with gearshift holder

I have convinced myself to splurge on a playseat over two others I found as I have money to spend and I'll likley be ordering one at the end of Sept. No matter what, I will feel very silly buying it but the way I see it is I could get half price on eBay so its only really a $300 loss should I descide to get rid of it. Also, If ya got the TV, the wheel, the money, permission, and the space, why not try it out?

All I'm really missing is a few inches more of TV (42 is nice though) and a 5.1 sound system. I might buy a sound system but its not nessecary to me.

I have a bought a Logitech G27 last week and a Wheel Stand Pro.

I have my G27, now, if only the WSP can get shipped, maybe I will be able to play with it! God...I bought this thing saturday morning and we are thursday and it's still not shipped! My credit card is already charged too!

I've been a sixaxis user up to now, but with GT5 coming I'm definitely going to a wheel/pedal setup.

I'm all but decided on the G27 but I can't help but wonder if there will be a new wheel released at launch that will leave me regretting the purchase...I haven't seen any discussion around it so I assume the general assumption is there won't be a new wheel launched?

That's my biggest question, How soon will the G27 be replaced. It was a very minor upgrade to the G25. Helical gearing, more buttons, and a shifter that may or may not be better depending on wether or not you want sequencial or more real feel to the H gate as preferance.

How old is the G27? Anyone know?

Logitech! Hello?

Either way Two Big Paws, If you go with a G27 or the newest Fanatec 911 GT3 RS V2 you are sure to get your moneys worth. It's between those two and the existing and future clubsport options have many people going for the Fanatec. I'm still desciding but Playseat is made for Logitech G27 and I want a playseat for the value over the Rennsport. I didn't ask about the Rennsport (It looked too heavy to ask) but a playseat only weighs like 53lbs so I can easily move it around my living room.

Phew! I'm not the only one! Very true on getting my money's worth, I expect the experience would be awesome with the G27; but the buyers remorse if a new one was released...*shudder*

G25 was released in 2006
G27 was release in Aug 2009....so it doesn't look likely.

Maybe an official one won't come from Logitech? Not sure what the PD/Sony/Logitech relationship is at the moment...

What are the chances GT5 won't fully support the G25/G27? I mean, even GT5P didn't work properly with the G27.

Add to that, every demo I've seen is being done with the DFGT so it seems PD are pushing that (and not the G27) as THE steering wheel for GT5.

Yeah, I spent about 3 days free time researching the G27 and Fanatec 911 GT3 RS V2 and that still left the question of whats next.

You can be pretty sure either of the previous two will be featured in GT5 but I'm waiting till the game is running on my console to make a wheel purchase.

If you aren't sure then get a Driving Force GT. Well worth the value and function as at least a 2nd player controller (after you upgrade it) at your house anyway. It gives you a baseline for comparison against the more expensive wheels.

After you go wheel you won't go back to a sixaxis so be prepared.

All in all I dont need to upgrade my DFGT, I just want to use and feel something "better" because I like expensive toys.

I can get a refurbished DFGT in Canada for $65. Thats money very well spent on any PS3/PC racing game as its just a bit more than a sixaxis.

Thats why I am waiting till I have the game in my console to descide weather or not to make a purchace.

Hopefully I'll have the Driving Force GT and I would play on a SDTV, although anytime between now and a year from now I may have a Sony Bravia.

Although I do have one question, how good are the pedals for the DFGT? I heard that they're crappy and I wanna know if I can mod them in any kind of way to make them better, or if I can buy pedals from a different wheel.

DFP until it breaks + Sony HDTV.

Once the DFP dies, I'll probably pick up the DFGT, as I like its functionality with GT5.

I'm using a 23 inch 1080p monitor and an XCM Cross Battle Adapter to use my 360 controller on my PS3. It's such an awesome controller for racing.

In one of the interviews held at the PD HQ, there was a scene where Kaz played GT5 on a DFGT, but there also was a box of G27 in the background.

They do work with logitech in the wheel department, G25 adn G27 will most likely work perfectly with GT5

And I'm going to play GT5 with my DFGT and either my 32" hd ready LG tv, or my 24" fullHD asus PC monitor.

I'll be playing in my DIY racing cockpit, fitted with a logitech G25 wheel and either my Toshiba 52" 1080p lcd or using my Toshiba 720p projector on a 90" wide screen in my basement. Pics to follow later!

Controller on a SD TV.

I would try to get a wheel, but I simply can't save enough money for one between now and Nov. 2nd. Especially since I plan to get other things during the wait.
