I have a Toyota 7 Race Car and was about to get an oil change when I noticed something very strange. Changing the oil will result in a 44hp increase, but a PP decrease. Can anyone explain that?

Just something that happens with some cars.

Nobody really knows why because nobody really knows how PP really works :lol:

It's because that car is not made to have that much horsepower, especially in real life. All that horsepower makes the car worse around a technical circuit, yes the car may be faster as far as top speed, but nearly impossible to get all that power to the ground on low speed corners. If you start adding weight to the Toyota 7 you will notice the PP increases.
 
Gillet Vertigo does the same thing. The more power it has the more impossible it is to drive. Lowering the power makes the car slightly less terrible to drive, but with more pp.

I am currently going through the seasonals, and noticed that my 530PP STi used in the 4WD challenge is actually increasing 1PP per race, so I have to adjust engine output to meet the requirements. Is this the preferred way to adjust PP, or should I add ballast instead?

Any car out of the new car dealership gains HP up to about 300km. Do an oil change you'll gain some more and it'll be at full HP from that point on. When it comes to 1 PP I don't think it makes much difference ballast or HP but ballast does give you the chance to move the weight around and affect the rotation of the car for better handling.
 
I had noticed something similar... Installing a stage 3 turbo actually dropped the PP around 30 points, until adding max ballast to the rear.
 
The internal algorithm that calculates PP is probably a polynomial curve that has a peak , then drops as the x value, HP increases a bit. The Vertigo is like that also, as noted.
 
Is that why the annoying million hp hacked cars are negative pp?
 
Probably, though I know nothing about hacked cars.

If you're hosting and they start to annoy you, turn on tire wear and fuel depletion. Word on the wire is, if you do that, the super hacks will run dry in minutes. The fastest in a couple seconds. It'd be hilarious to watch a "time machine" hack run out of gas before the race even starts, and I've heard it's easily possible.

The PP formula is only good for certain ranges of parameters. The oil change pushed something high enough that the PP equation began to fail. That's most likely it.

I don't think it has to do with the car becoming more difficult to control (and I don't really see why it would be much different). It's just the nature of the PP equation.
 
I think it easily could be that the car is just too fast. The Toyota 7 is a ballistically fast car - but suspension and tire technology weren't quite up to that level at that point. Adding more horsepower would make for an even more frightening car.
 
I have two toyota 7.

One of them is stock and has 732PP
The other has taken part in ASpec Events and it's fully tuned. It had 733PP. It's mad!!

i barely know what you just said but that would explain why the hacked 100000 hp redbull has negative pp

imagine a graph that looks like a "U" upside down
the vertical lines are the PP
and the horizontal cv (hp, BHP etc)

then, as you increase the power the PPs also are increased, but only untill a certain point, where there's so much power that it's impossible to drive, than the PP will start to decrease (you had this figured out with you hacked red bull example, just tried to explain what the other guy said)
