How many cars should GT6 have?

The gameplay in GT5 seems to be an afterthought, after PD spent most of their time going to ridiculous measures to model each car exactly right, the number of stitches on the seat exactly right.

PD can't do things efficiently. Or they're just too small of a company.

:)👍

Gotta boost them up.

Edit: Why not hire the Enthusia and tokyo xtreme racer people? :) If that's even possible.

Wow. That would be almost a dream team. Teams from Enthusia (Konami), TXR (Genki) working together with PD... if they pick 2-3 ideas from each succesful game that would be enough.

They did hire people away from the Enthusia team before GT5 came out. It's just... nothing seemed to have come of it.

Maybe they just locked them in a cage as vengeance:

- Take this! How dare you guys have done a great game like Enthusia?!! You'll be punished because you created a game with more realistic physics than GT4! And because Enthusias automatic gearboxes are perfect, and because your game does have brilliant cars such as the BMW E30 M3, and a Citroen DS23 and Gran Turismo doesn't!

From Genki, I would like the Shutoku Highway System, since they already have it mapped out. Maybe PD can "buy" it from them, or make a Special Stage City as mentioned in the Missing tracks thread.

For the UCD, if people want it to remain, then maybe, assuming damage is available, they can follow what NFS: Porsche Unleashed had, the used cars (rare or not) have slight damage, etc. You pay to fix it up and then do what you like with it. Sell it back for profit (to the game or auctions)? Hook it up more?

It would certainly make the UCD alot more interesting. As I mentioned before, I would like GT to follow what Forza did, all dealerships available, including companies that are defunct, as NCD. Heck, even Datsun is apparently coming back.

Does PD even know about the Genki team? They should give them a chance and hire them if they can find them. Or they were hired somewhere else or they separated from each other. Did PD only hired the Enthusia people for physics? (Well of course.) Once PD finishs hiring more people (which they NEED), they should (at least) announce how many they hired to let us know, or in Kaz's tweeter.

My apologies for going off topic.

I want all cars in GT5 but no more standard cars in GT6! Also, different manufacturer should have more cars, such as Volvo should have classic 850 Touring and new S60 and V70...

Okay. Some are saying about 500 cars. Is 500 too little, too many, or just right for a Gran Turismo game? And can PD actually and effectively utilize 500 cars with races, events, tuning, etc.?

400 or 450 then? (Still thinking of 500 cars though.) Sounds perfect huh? :D No more duplicates and no more premium and standard cars. Please PD I'm serious, not joking. :scared:

500 would be perfect given that every single car is a "Premium." It's just that, now, people will complain about how GT6 has half the number of cars than in GT5. PD can never make all sides happy.

I personally wouldn't mind 500 cars if it means that PD can make them graphically beautiful and sound close to perfect. In terms of gameplay, I currently drive the Premium cars 80% of the time. So that's 200+ cars that I actually use. If GT6's car count can double, then that would be good enough for me.

Can't please everyone. I'm trying to keep the list short and realistic, yet full with as many notable, famous and interesting cars as possible.

It's a work in progress as new cars come out/are raced. Plus, I'm changing my mind constantly as to what should be in and out.

Like I said overall I'd give you a 98% out of 100% thought that'd make you happy...

Anyways I agree, trying to make a list is difficult because there are cars that you think are great one day, but the next day you wonder why did you put them there. Then new cars come out that you really believe should be there.

648. Not including RMs.

Well now, that looks like a pretty healthy list, and pretty much cherry picks the best of GT5 and FM4. Other than the over-abundance of A4 DTM cars, me likey lots 👍. I've been tempted to create something like that for myself, a sort of personal check-list to see how close GT6 follows what I personally would like to see.

I think 500 is more than enough, as a nice round number, though. A small amount of the variety available in GT5 would be lost, sure, but the trade-off would (could) be a much more balanced car list, and ideally, all to a Premium level of quality. When you think about the fact that right off the bat, you could cut nearly 30 cars off GT5's list just with extraneous Miatas, the 500 goal doesn't seem too unreasonable.

Considering PD's obsessive desire to be perfect, 500 seems possible and realistic. 500 premium models, of course. 0 standards. Let's kiss them goodbye and hope the classics are converted to premium status (over time).

1,000 premiums will have to wait until GT7/8, in my opinion. If GT gets that far.

That's the interesting thing, you see. PD is considered to be perfectionists, yet they managed to do the unthinkable; port graphically-inferior GT4 cars (from a previous console) to a supposedly graphically-beautiful GT5 on a current-generation console.

I've no software knowledge or anything, but I'm going to guess that cars look poorer in GT5 than in GT4 because GT5 outputs at a higher resolution, so all the jaggies and pixels are more pronounced.

Feel free to correct me.

Oh, it did make me happy. I'm appreciative of the kind words you and other users have given me.

"Can't please everyone" was just a general statement about that last 2%. Unless you include every car ever made, some people won't see some of their favorite cars. You can't produce a car list that pleases every demographic or every individual. Perhaps the statement was mistimed in this case.

It's only natural to include GT5 cars in such a list. I've included almost (only missing a few concept cars) every GT5 Premium car (marked P) under the assumption that PD have collected enough data from these cars to create GT6 models, if the models themselves cannot be converted to GT6 specifications.

GT5 Standard cars (marked S) are included as many of these cars warrant inclusion into the next GT game (Supra RZ, FTO, GTO, Celica GT-Four, MR2, NB MX-5, M3 CSL, Ruf Yellowbird, Superbird, S14 Silvia, Zonda S 7.3, Veyron, older Impreza WRX STi, Lancer Evos, Subaru Legacy etc., I could keep going for a long time). Most of these are GT4 cars, and GT4 had a pretty good car list in the first place. It is also implied that PD has had access to these cars in the past and it is not unreasonable to conclude that they can receive access to license and model these cars again.

As for FM4, I have absolutely no knowledge of the FM4 car list, but I'll take that as a compliment.

That's an example of padding the list with different liveries of the same car. Which is realistic, we want more liveries for race cars and PD will give it t us so they can boost their car count for marketing. It is done with DTM, Super GT, Nascar and WTCC cars in the list.

I may revise the DTM cars in the list and replace the 2010 fleet with the 2012 fleet coupes since it's more modern/relevant and BMW has joined the series.

PD should just outsource modelling of some cars and tracks, just like every single console gaming company does.

But no, they think they are special and that we are going to buy a PS4 even if the competition has at least 3x unique premium cars.

Compilations of all cars from GT, GT2, GT3 and GT4, plus GT5 premiums and new cars specifically for GT6.
Don't forget tuners cars from GT2 like Mine's R32, R33 GTR, Lancer Evo, TRD 3000GT, TRD 200GT, Tom's Supra, Venturi Atlantique cars, and Vector. :sly:
They should make Vector M12 and W8 Twin Turbo premiums :dopey: along with those tuners cars, also make all duplicate cars with different years premium. How hard is it to use the same model and do a minor changes to reflect the years and type ... I dont' mind waiting another 3 or 4 years from now, I enjoyed GT4 for 7 years :ouch:, so for GT6 with all these cars in premium ... i can wait

I'm pretty sure some of them are worse than GT4. The Ford SVT F-150's back bumper wasn't that pixelated before, was it?

Yes. I don't know if the Lightning is one of them, but there are a handful of cars that are still glitched that PD either had fixed and broke again or never bothered. Nevermind the cars where they screwed up the liveries on in a bad attempt to edit out sponsors.

Yeah 500 cars please and thank you. ;)

Don't really care about the number meanwhile they are Premium models, and more recent models, also new brands Porsche Please!!!

Everysingle car in the world all premiums and with every single customizable option for that car

I'd like the amount of cars for each manufacturer to be abit more fairly spread so it's not as dominated by Japanese cars, and yes I know that it will be mostly Japanese as PD is a Japanese company but still...
Overall I think 600 would be a good amount, without 3 versions of each car. Also I think the ability to pick the interior trim would be nice, and the stock wheels like in TDU2.

agree completely, i good broad selection of cars and models from all over the world
there are so many models and companies that are not in GT5 that deserve to be, and there are many models and companies that do no deserve to be in the game that are
i mean how many of us have legitly used a Daihatsu? maybe once or twice for a little fun - but would it be missed if it was gone? not likely

Well I disagree with getting rid of a car company just for the fact that the cars aren't very fast, it is a driving simulator after all. I for one use my Copen on a regular basis and would actually feel a little dissapointed if other such quirky little cars were to be lost. It's what makes GT different.
