well ive got 80, I may do some racing for better times at gt.de but so far im contempt with gold. Gold is gold in my books.

The thought has crossed my mind to get all gold with my DFP but i dont think that is a good idea as im nearly matching my DS2 pace already, so there is no point.

I do agree with famine, after doin all gold i found a lot of the driving missions easy as i already knew the tracks well, and after giving the Ring extra time in arcade to learn (by doin my M3spot races on it) i was able to gold the ring mission and licenses with out much difficuilty.

nothing better then practice eh.... i done most of my tests on a normal pad before my steering wheel (which my brother has knocked now :guilty: ) so it kinda feels weird now.

I have 69 golds so far. I've had GT4 for 2 days. I haven't attempted S6-S16 yet.

I'm a little disillusioned with some of the tests. I expected more from IA-15, it was my first ever time I had lapped the Nurburgring. I was virtually quivering in fear at the prospect of driving that monster, but then in the test they gave you a very easy car, very balanced and predictable, and the gold time wasn't that low. I got gold on only my second lap, simply by following the pace car. I guess I couldn't have done it without him.

Later I had a beer. Here's to you, Mr Pace Car. I enjoyed my license tests with you. I really respect you, you've been almost like a father to me. I will never forget braking for those hairpins in Citta Di Aria, almost spinning as I tried to avoid you as you braked so ridiculously early, only to be left for dead as you powered away at the exit, with your 550 hp compared to my pitiful 180.

I will never forget driving along those straights behind you at the Nurburgring, even if I was forced to brake sometimes to stay behind you as you seemed scared to go any faster. You saved my life countless times, as we powered along at 150 mph and I had not a clue whether the following corner was right or left. You always showed me the way.

When I achieve gold on the S-16 license test at the Nurburgring, and attain the status of 80-gold licenses, I will stop a while and think. I will crack open a beer and say, in a voice wavering with emotion, 'Here's to you, Mr Pace Car. You taught me everything I know.'

80 with DFP, obsession over :) I can now start playing regular gt4

However, only 33/34 missions...still 24 seconds off for nurb  ...obession taking over again...

LOL, I too hated all the pace car tests, I failed some good tries just because it was too slow, damn Skyline. I have all golds, BTW. Just a matter of patience.

If it wasnt for the pace car in IA - 15, i would be 10 - 15 seconds faster. Have to let off the accelerator in the straights because he is too slow, and he brakes early for nearly every bend.

But yes practise is the key

Have some respect for Mr Pace Car. Without him you wouldn't be the driver you are today.

Anyway, if you showed him some more respect, maybe he would have taught you more. I bet he never taught *you* the five-point-palm-early-apex technique, eh?

I have trouble passing tests, let alone getting golds. Then again, I move on as soon as I pass the test. I never try them again to get better score. I have one silver, rest are imported from GT3 or are bronze. Oh, I still haven't passed the final test on the S-License(I've been slacking). 👎

I only just bought the game last week. I decided to go for gold from the outset and not even try a later test until I golded the one I was on. it has taken 101 days in the game (4 in the real world) but I have 80 gold. 0% as I havn't done anything else yet. I must say that it was relativley easy. only a few tricky ones. I actually found the coffe breaks heaps harder, in particular number 4 (IA), that took forever. I did beat the final break in the maze (S) 13 whole seconds ahead of the gold time so that was cool. anyway, I think its time to try some real racing!! oh yeah, what a load of crap it is that there's no percentage given for licences or even any real incentive to go for gold (just pride). just some crappy cars for the most challenging part of the game. maybe they should have given you a multiplier for your a-spec points if you have all gold for the grade of race your in.

LIcense tests were a bit of a let down, I procrastinated doing the S license out of fear for my health yet did all of the on the first try except the nurb, which I did on the second (I caught the grass with my outter-front tire and over-corrected)

Finally! Coming into today, I had 5 left to go. Just kept at it and after a few mistakes here and there, it all came to an end some 15-20 minutes ago. No more sand traps at Suzuka with the Pitwork Z. No more undulating surfaces with the SLR and the Viper. It's over! Proof is in the photos:

Edit: I take that back. Still have Mission 34 to knock out. :/

I think we know.

Where's the option for "160" though? :D
Agreed,
i even miss 240 (jp, chn, pal) and soon 320 (us)
no, i didn´t think about 400, no need for the korean version.;)

Flinx, you have a reputation as a very fast driver in GT4, I remember you set a very fast time in the Sauber C9 final license test. Did you ever get frustrated/angry with getting gold on a license test? Or did you just gold them all really quickly? If you didn't get angry golding the licenses, did you get angry trying to improve your time on the S-16 test in the Sauber?

I got GT4 two and half days ago, and for me, the most time it has taken to gold a particular test is 40 minutes of playing (I have golded 69 tests up to S6 which I haven't tried yet, I decided to take a day off GT4). But even after 20 minutes of failure I get angry with myself (and the DS2, lol). I wonder does this happen to everyone or is it just me?

my longest was 70min for S-12, apart from that it was 40 for A-15 and 1 or 2 others, otherwise it was pretty much 5 - 20 for all the others.

I get angry after about 40mins lol, so i only really got angry once.

As of tonight I have golded all but one of the license tests. Just the S Nurburgring test to go. Hope to knock it off tonight.
I decided when I got the game to Gold all the licenses before moving on to anything else as it would allow me to learn how to drive with the DFP. I hadn't used a steering wheel on a game before GT4. I've gotten really frustrated trying to gold some of tests, but just keeping at it I've gotten through them all.

All golds are indeed very impressive - I feel i'm getting into this and have played Gt1, 2, 3 etc.. but still has only caught 3 golds, 22 silver and then bronzes... in the GT4 - Arctic super license test is impossible to even get a silver! Best time 58.5!

i nearly smashed my head for that one!

Finished the final S test gold today so I have all gold in the licenses. Very happy. Going for gold is almost a game in itself. The one I remember becoming most frustrated on was the one where you had to weave through the cones in an S2000. That one took me ages.
