How much cash is in your wallet?

Why would you carry loads of cash if you can carry one small card?

I only keep about 10$ worth of coins in my wallet at any given time, which is for for small things like vending machines or a small store that doesn't accept card. If I need more, I keep about another 15$ worth of coins in my ashtray of my car. (Now if it's gone I'll know where to find you all....)

Carrying a card is just so much more convenient.

because i can :)
i like having it in my hand and therefor can keep track of my spending
i take out a certain amount each week that covers everything, plus spending money and the rest stays in my account.
i disagree on the convenience of a card, i see it as more of a pain in the ar$e

At the moment I have £50 a cheque for £30 and a Bank Card although I normally never have more than £20 in my wallet.

Ain't nuthin' in my wallet right now. With plastic, who really needs cash? I usually keep $20-$30 in cash for small things.

I used to be a walking cash machine back in high school, when I had little access to my bank account (didn't have plastic yet), and only got paid in cash for the oddjobs that I did. I'd regularily have $200-$300 on me. The most I ever had was right after high school graduation. I cashed a big ol' check I got from designing a website, and then headed over to Gamestop to buy my PS2 and accessories. I took a picture to preserve the memory :D

Never again...

Do you have a wallet in your purse? Like for your driver's license and credit cards?

A purse in the UK is a small, wallet-sized money pouch that girls carry. A purse in the US is like what we in the UK call a handbag.

So it's unlikely that GTPlant has a wallet in her purse, no.

I've seen girls here with a handbag and a purse (using the British terminology, I had no idea what the distinction was before).

Its kind of fun to thumb through a big ol' wad of money, isn't it? :)

Now wathc me, the 13 year old, own you all... *edit* well most of you anyway.

US $80.93.

allowance savings. Will be used when there is enough, to buy a TREK Jack 3 mountain bike.

And 300 dollars more at home./
;)

Yep - whereas blokes will slip a wallet into their pocket, girls will slip their purse into their handbag.

In actual fact, handbag use is a complete enigma to me. As far as I can tell, it's some kind of logical progression, like this:

  • Decide you're carrying too much stuff around. Buy world's smallest handbag, previously serving as a small mammal's genitals, and put only essentials in (purse, a lippy).
  • Something else becomes essential (probably a Tampon). Handbag is too small, but stuff it in anyway.
  • Handbag zip/strap breaks because there's too much stuff in it. Buy slightly bigger handbag.
  • GOTO step 2;step 3 UNTIL:
  • Handbag now the size of the dustcover for a grand piano. Contents include, but not limited to, purse, loose change, lipsticks (x3), eyeliner (x2), compact (x2), mirrors of various size and shape (x4), hairbrush (x3), hairdryer, contraceptives (male AND female), framed picture of all loved ones (including nephew's second girlfriend's cousin's niece), packet of biscuits, spark plugs, packet of mints (x4), packet of soft chewy sweets (x3), saddle for Arabian horse, mobile/cellphone (x2), towel, emergency walrus grooming kit, MP3 player/Walkman, The Little Book of Calm, umbrella and wheelbrace/tyreiron.
  • Decide you're carrying too much stuff around. Buy world's smallest handbag, previously serving as a small mammal's genitals, and put only essentials in.

They baffle me as a species in general.

Hey, you have enough to pay half of my monthly rent!!!

You'll see that at some point, cash becomes burdensome and unnecessary, which is why most adults never have any (or very much).

Haha, cool. Well since I'm 13, and with my history, my parents'll never trust me with a credit card, and my bank account with its 10 G's worth of college savings is inaccessible for me, because they don't trust me with that, either. Even my personal account, with $1563 and a few cents needs my parents' presence to withdraw from :grumpy:

Cash - around $50.
Potential cash - $900 :D

What dyou mean potential cash?

well, i'm nearly 13 now aswell, i'd doubt my parents would trust me with a credit card either, but if i did get one, i'd use it to buy Premium:)

I have had a credit card for almost 4 years now and have only used it for one thing, and paid that off the same month. I'd rather not have debt.

If I had a credit card, I would be thousands of pounds in debt in less than an hour, this is why my parents don't trust me with one :grumpy:

It sucks you can't withdraw by yourself. Why don't you ask you parents if you can get a debit card with perhaps a $30 daily withdraw limit?

I probably won't a get a credit card untill I'm in uni and my parents give on to me, like they have with my sister. And even then it'll only be used for grocery shopping and emergencies.

Going by Famine's description, I guess i'm not a typical female type, then!

I have a handbag which is approximately the size of a housebrick. Inside I have my PDA, purse (which at present has about £5 and assorted cards in it), lip balm, sweeteners (nobody ever has sweetners, I can't stand sugar in my tea), car keys, flat keys, earphones, diary (very small), railcard, Ibruprofen and a tissue/serviette. All of the above are necessary on longer outings but if i'm just popping to the supermarket/town, then i'll stick my phone/purse/keys in my pockets. Half the time I leave my phone in the flat!!

I just checked and I don't have the mandatory emergency walrus grooming kit. I feel this is an essential item and wonder where I can find such a thing on sale?

You see, this is why I'm always scared to look into my mom's purse. Women are known to carry the most random things in their purse, that probably, only in a time of desperation or sudden war movement when you can't even go back home and have to hide in a shelter or a hideout, you might need them.

Her co-worker at the office, has a pair of sandals, scissors, a strange looking lamp, a small measuring tape, and I don't know what else...

Ciao!

All the type of stuff you'd need in case of an outbreak of the plague, nuclear war or the end of the world is all kept in the boot of my car in a holdall :D

Whilst in my wallet, a 3 day old bus ticket, my bank card, NI Number and 15 Pounds cash..

Sigh..

Do you have the bus tickets with the Subway offers on the back? They've stopped doing them in my area now and they were awesome deal :(

No Subway for a good 20 miles in this area.. Brackley has never heard the term "Fast food".
