I reached the magical 100% line, so it's time to have another go.

I just started my second round of GT4 after reaching 100% on my first.
In my first quest I just wanted to reach 100% as soon as possible and see what's in the game.
Obviously I need some extra challenge on my second round. So this time I set some goals.
  1. I want all gold on license tests.
  2. I will only buy cars I need and cannot win anywhere. These are the cars needed in the factory races and a truck.
  3. Get as many A-spec points as possible in any race
So I started my second round on July 5.

What will you do on your second tour?

My stats so far:
  • 32 Gold license test medals
  • 2 Licenses (NB - NA)
  • 6 Price cars
  • 1 Second hand car
  • 0.1% game completion
  • 200 A-Spec points
I'll try to keep this as up to date as possible and would like to know how many of you are doing something similar.

july 5: started my second round and got all gold on National B license :) after having comleted the game once this was not very hard, I even wonder now why I didn't do this the first time :sly:

july 6: took me a little longer then yesterday but in the end I mamaged to get all gold on National A license (and surprised myself with that. In GT3 I only managed to get all gold on the National B license tests, I think I will try that one too some day). So I'm now at day 39 with 6 cars in my garage. I think I'll have a go on the Sunday Cup with that Lupo later this week. I don't know if thats any good and will get me that magical 200 pts but I think that's the best option for now.

july 7: my first 200 pts out of 1 race. It was a 🤬 of a job, had to start over a lot to get from 199 to 200 pts but that resulted in ending up with more money than before starting the race. I took a '99 Yaris F with new oil (oil indicator was lighting up) with 125 kg of balast on sports tires to th Sunday Cup, first race (autumn ring mini) and had 36 starts, as you might expect, the last time crossing the finnish line with a .9 sec lead over a Mazda MX5. That Mazda wasn't the toughest competitor, altough he was driving first till halfway through the final corner, oooh noooo. I am now the most fanatic Citroen C3 hater in the world. That thing was driving 4th and blocking around the entire track, in the last race I got lucky and drifted on his inside through the 5th corner in the first lap, from then on it was a ride in the park, just taking better lines through the corners and overtaking the leading Mazda halfway the final corner.
This little adventure took me a little over 2 hours. It is good for the bank account, I ended up with somewhere around 16,000 Cr., 200 A-spec Points, 0,1 percent completion of the game, a very bad win/loss ratio (6 out of 36  ) and last but not least, an extra car - a fabulous :dopey: Toyota Yaris (silver-grey) which I can race the rest of the Sunday Cup with and the Toyota Yaris event in the Toyota events, so this baby will make me a lot of money and A-spec points

As for the rest of the Sunday Cup races, I think I might have to add semi racing suspension since this doesn't affect the power to weight ratio of the car (and it is not that expensive) I hope it will not affect the points awarded for the races.

july 9:OK now we're getting somewhere: with NOS, SR-suspension and a FC Tranny I beat the Sunday Cup, Yaris/Vitz event and the first race of the FF Challenge, getting 200 points/race and having fun cause there still is neck-a-neck racing.

I've thought about trying it again but if anything I'll just improve my stats on the current one. I'd like to get all gold but after spending about 10 hours on the friggin BMW slalom tests only to fall agonisingly short, I think I'll just use the Weekly Race Series as a means to challenging myself.

Hmmmm, I remember that test, after golding the first slalom test easily I went to that one like, ok that'll be a walk in the park. HRRR wrong!!!! :ouch:
But still, I want to get gold on that one, and after the final exam on National A yesterday (took me about 2 hours) I realized that practise makes the master and I WILL get it gold.
Some people wrote that you should look at the demo's and that realy works. Just do the test a couple of times untill you get stuck with a certain time, then look at the demo with your best time ghost on and look for the differences, it realy works great. I was focussing on the first 4 corners yesterday on NA 16 and after looking at the demo, I saw that I was way faster than the demo there, so in the end I focussed more on the later corners and after about 5 more tries beat it with a nice time, some .5 secs faster than the gold time.

So once more: practise practise practise...!!!

There will be no 2nd round for me. If I ever get 100% I'll just keep racing the races I like and maybe try to find new challenges and get my A-spec points higher. And there are many interesting cars still left to run at Nürburgring until GT5 is available...

I cant wait to start again! im on 98.8% - i left the F1 Championship till last and now its like a struggle to complete it as the races are so god-damn long, im getting bored of it - ive been trying to get around to doing it for like 2 months!

When i start again Sjef! I will be doing the exact same thing as you
- Gold all lisences 1st (already attempted pretty tough)
- Then i'll get all driving missions as well (as you get good couple of cars here)
- Then only use cars that ive won until i have to buy one for specific races (SUV races)

Mr Slow has two threads about going through the game without spending money

I thought about not buying any cars or not spending any money too but in my opinion there are to many downsides to that. There are also some cars in the game that cannot be won but I realy want to have. p.e. in real live I drive a Peugeot 206 (will be replaced by a 307 in september) and a mazda 323f(b) (exactly the one that's in the game except for the colour - dark blue) and, needless to say, I want to enjoy those in the game too, so I still have a copy of my original savegame to enjoy those car's and 2 player games, on this game I won't buy them.
Not spending money makes it much harder to achieve all goals, I think I will have to buy worse tires than stock to increase the number of A-Spec points, so I will have to spend money on those tires.
To win those 200 pts races I might need NOS or a heavily tuned car to be able to win them, think of the Peugeot 206 and Opel Speedster meetings, you will have to tune your car to the max to be able to win them because the opponents drive heavily tuned version of those cars.

I drive an EK Honda Civic - So i would have to buy the Ek Civic type-r just to cruise about on the nurb or tokyo - Only problem is you cant get it in red in the game like mine 👎 still a fantastic car!

After I get 100% and all Golds I will start again on a different memory card. This time round I will try to use mostly American, Australian and Euro muscle type cars, instead of Japanese turbos as I have done in my current game of GT4

started my 2nd round about 2 weeks ago

so far

1) all golds / bar the special lic. which I haven't started yet.
2) all races at 200 A-Spec points, (I've only raced about 15 races) will not be using b-spec at all.
3) getting a bit of cash together to start the special conditions.
4) I will not clear any races in order to sell on winning car. (I restarted my game cos I had so much money it was silly. and b-spec bob had done far too many miles.

if I remember correctly the lupo gets around 112-130 depending on line up in the sunday cup. hope that helps

Ah, forgot to tell. I too use a different memory card because I want too race F1 cars and other muscle cars every now and then. I had made a copy of my savegame once, the one I was using untill 100% is now corrupted :ouch: but my copy (67%) is still ok. So for some 2 player fun I use that one. The new goals are on a fresh memorycard.

For everyone who wants to achieve the same goals, maybe it's a nice idea (little bit of a competition) to mail me your best License tests results so we can  for the top player :) . I'll edit my original post to add the results as soon as I've got time. I think that'll be on friday or saturday. I have I think around 5 tests in which I got a gold medal on the very first try, so I didn't need to bother practising any further, and I think those time's will be very slow compared to people who practised more on those tests.

Hmmm, did you manage to get 200 pts on the beginner races (Sunday Cup)? If so, which car did you use? (special settings?)

Does the Yaris (Vitz) have so much less power that you can get 200 pts with that? I read somewhere that with that one you can get 200 pts. (a little off topic but it's one off my goals...)

I went with the Yaris. Check out Moloch_horridus and Route_66's guide's on the 200 a-spec points thread (first page near the bottom of route's first post

Good Luck

Thanks 👍 , that's where I read it :dunce:
And I'll buy the Yaris, thank God it's a car on the "Have to buy"-list :) so I won't have to break my own rules...

I'm about to start on my second pass at the game and I think I've decided just to attempt to use a different car to race with than I did in the first pass as often as possible. Obviously this isn't possible in some manufacturer's races, but otherwise I'm going to try to use cars I didn't even own on the last pass. First time through I leaned heavily on Nissan and Lotus products and on the Minolta Toyota LMP car ... next time I'm going to concentrate on American, Honda and Aussie cars and the Judd LMP car.

Do you find that using manual transmition on lisence tests are better than automatic - i find getting gold really quite hard

I'm going to see what percentage can be completed with one car. I'm thinking about the AC or the Shelby Cobra. I would start by doing races it can't run in to make money, make a note of my completion, then buy the car and race until it's useless.

I can't realy comment on that because I've never used automatic gears. I always thought that auto-transmission shifts way too early for a lot of cars (not all). In licentest forums they always say that if you have difficulty clearing tests that you should try manual shifting or hold the R1 one button until the revs reach the red zone. After shifting you'll end up in a better rev-range for the next gear and thus end up having more power and off course more speed.

I suggest using the R1 trick instead of switching to manual because that will take longer to get used to. (but i.m.h.o. :sly: manual is always better than auto)

If I start a second game, which I doubt I will, I'll run it pretty much the same way I've run this one (which why I probably won't...)

Start off golding B and A licenses, then use prize cars as appropriate for Beginner races. Use prize money to upgrade some and buy some other cars. Don't sell any cars that are not duplicates won to sell. Try to avoid using the same car for more than one series. Always try to match car to the competition in general style and performance. Never use a car that can take the pole by more than 1.5" per lap, and start from 6th unless the race is not winnable without qualifying.

Silver IB, IA, and S licenses when necessary to run an event. Plan for eventual golding of these tests, before or after 100% completion. Never run an event less than 4 hours long in B-spec before winning it in A-spec.

If I start over again this will be my third time

- First time I started did Licenses mostly gold except for I-A & Super... but did many 1 point races + game got erased by my little causing (18 year old mofo :grumpy: :ouch: )
- Second time I started the with Licenses mostly gold except for I-A & Super, B-speced everything just to catch up to where I was. + Missions...never sold a car, never bought a car, until I started noticing many cars in the use garage are not in the dealerships.

- Now this time I'll go for the GOLDS + Missions (maybe not 34 yet) in that order but i'll keep my eyes for cars that are rare or 6.2mi... and then A- Spec everything, try to go for 150points and up....when I get to 25% go back and b-spec races to build up my B-spec (Schuey) Now I have an idea of what cars can give me a better challage and A-spec points...

Good luck to those starting over....btw im at 80% right now.

Goal for game #2:
75,000p with stock cars.

No modding, no nitrous, no qualifying. Just grab a car as is and go have some exciting races!

Here's a quick question. Which car will let you enter the most races and therefore give you the most percentage points? I'm afraid I have no idea!!

I'm already on my second season (and I finished it too). The problem in the first season was.. It felt like I raced all my races in B-spec, and number two- I sold all my sim mode cars I couldn't win a second time, and my garage just felt empty. I'm already satisfied with my current season. 100%, all golds, almost every car in the game in my garage, only got two, but they're Nissans, and I bet they're not worth stressing over and going through a car list all over again.

I am about to wipe out my 75% completion game, including all the black beauties, big endurance cars, etc. and start over again.
Why would I do such a thing?
Because I just bought a wheel, and want to do it in style this time!

This is an interesting question to me now that I've beat the game with 100%. :sly:

Actually, today I finished my last race.
I decided a few weeks back that the 24hrs of Sarthe 1 should be the last race completed.
Sure enough, I did it and the 24 hours of le man was the final race of the game for me. :D

Now that it is all over I have to start considering a second go-round.
How would I do it?

Well, I'm thinking it would be nice to do it without ever buying a car. 👍
Probably not very hard, so to make it just a little harder...
Never buy a car and never mod one. :trouble:

I will come back and let you all know if I actually do it.

that's cool, i'm on 2nd round of GT4, i owned this GT4 snice it came out, and i only got 99.8% :ouch: because i'm stuck with Driving mission 34!! and then i got new DFP at may 24th (my b-day) and i started whole thing AGAIN with my new DFP :) and see my stats for complete, etc below.....

On my frist round i've use some of B-spec for 24 hours and some long race (1000 miles french, Formula one)

but now 2nd round... B-spec is NOT allowed :sly:👍

I'm afraid that will be a Mission Impossible Kent, there are some threads here handling that topic. Not buying any cars will hold you from completing the game. You'll have to buy a number of cars to be able to race some factory events. There's a list with cars you have to buy somewhere in here.

I'm just glad that most factory races will award me lots of A-Spec points, and a lot easier than my first 200 pts race yesterday evening, it took me a little over 2hrs :ouch: to win the first Sunnday Cup (Beginner League) at 200 pts.

That's a question I think nobody here can answer. I'd say it has to be one of the supercars, but you can't buy them after just starting the game. If you want cars to enter races with without spending to much money I'd say: go get some driving licenses with all gold medals and use the price cars you get from that to start off with. The Mazda Kusabi (???? or something like that) is a good car for beginners to start of with in the beginner hall, but, be warned, wins will be (too) easy and there's not much A-spec points in it for you. I started my first game with that car and it turned out to be a good way to earn money and buy supercars very early in the game. But again, racing won't be exciting, if you want that, try a second hand Yaris with some balast and try to get that magical 200 pts per race, I know now it can be done and you'll have some good fights on the tracks :nervous: . If you're going for 100% game completion that way I think it will take you years beyond the release dat of GT21 so it'll safe you a lot of (real life) money too :)

I sat at the browser screen for a second looking at my GT4 game save.
I bravely pushed the delete button, but was a little less aggressive on the confirmation.
All those cars I worked so hard for GONE!
But it's kind of cool going through the early stages again.
I did end up transferring the cash again and bought the HPA Golf.
I have already blown the cocept of finishing the game with a 100% win ratio.
In the 4WD comp in beginner hall I lost on Suzuka.
Why?
I flew into the sandtrap at the end of the home stretch.
The HPA has real issues in first gear.
It takes forever for the RPM's to build!
It's almost as if you have NOTHING until she spools up to 1500-2000 rpm in first.
Boooo!

But here's to a whack of fun all over again....with a wheel!
