I don't care how long GT5 takes to launch as long as they "Get it RIGHT!"
Like many of you I'm sure, I was full of hope when GT4 was launched. After all the pre-release "Hoopla" including news that more GrpC & LMP cars would be included along with a proper venue to run them I thought "It can't get better than this!" Then shortly after starting the game reality set in. Nearly every facet of GT4 shows (to Me at least) that it was rushed & poorly thought out.
Sure the Graphics & Physics were an improvement over GT3 but the "AI" were still terrible & lots of things seemed "thrown together." Here's MY List of things I found lacking in GT4 & truly hope PD fixes in GT5. In fact, Personally, I'd be happy with NO improvement to Graphics OR Physics IF they'd make the game play better. Super "Frosting" on a bland cake is just that, PLEASE PD...make everything else as good as the new game "APPEARS" to be!!!
In NO particular order:
1) As long as you must put in a decent effort to win a Series the Prize Car should be something "Special." PD seems to have drawn most Prize Car offerings out of a hat instead of having them relate at least somewhat to the Series they're awarded for winning. Totally worthless PRIZE CARS could be in a "Museum" where for a fee you could drive them "if" interested. This includes ALL Cars that can't be used in ANY Race!!!
2) ALL Tracks should be used!!! I mean, why bother to digitize a venue then never use it??? Tsukuba was utilized 32 times in GT4 while to the best of my knowledge Suzuka West & Beginner Course Reverse were NEVER used. (I'm talkin' GT Mode here!) Seems like the programmers just kept hitting the Tsukuba (32) / Fuji (31) / Suzuka (23) / (35 times if you count Suzuka East!!!) buttons instead of looking for a more suitable venue. Guess I should be grateful Test CURSE
was used only three times!
3) Specific Series should be available for ALL Classes of Race Cars offered. Why bother modeling the JGTC 3000 cars for example if there's nowhere to race them?
4) Why are some 200 Point Races ridiculously easy & others "Impossible"??? I don't think that whole deal was well thought out at all. Plus why "200" anyhow? Seems an "Odd" number to me, 100, 500 or 1,000 would have made more sense.
5) What's the point of having a "Dream Car" Series if virtually any other car can enter??? It would have been nice to have someplace to run all those prototype rides!
6) Ditto for "Tuning Car" Series. Entry should have been limited to the numerous Tuner Cars provided, NO???
7) NOT being able to "Save" during the Enduros is a MAJOR Screw-Up
IMHO.
8) The "AI" hits YOU in Special Conditions Hall & YOU get a 5 second penalty!!! Whose bright idea was that???
The following GRIPES have to do w/the game in general & may or may not have been caused by GT4 being "Rushed to Market."
A) Supercharged Engines should INCREASE HP over the Maxxed Out N/A level. That's just how it is. If you "Force Feed" a N/A engine it's going to make more HP, PERIOD!!!
B) ALL "Race Cars" should be like the FGT rides in that they're delivered w/Max HP & it canNOT be added to. They all race in associations with strict Maximum Displacement and or Minimum Weight rules, so why the game should be able to ignore those rules is beyond me.
C) "Race Cars" should NOT be able to race "Below" their "Class." i.e. NO entry of FGT vs. say JGTC rides. Racing "UP" in Class would be fine, as most often it's the only way to find Close Racing.
D) "Road Cars" should be able to race any series they qualify for. i.e.: Not too heavy, too big, or too large an engine etc.
E) Brakes should be evenly "UP-Grade able" for all brands of cars. If I had anything to do w/Saleen or Zonda I'd tell PD to change their policy or drop them from the game. "Rice Pudding" Brakes are fine to start out with but you should be able to "Fix" the problem. Plus why should a simple proportioning valve costs so many more credits than the actual Racing Brakes ??? That's just NOT right.
F) The Chassis "Going Away" in the middle of a series (Or ANYtime for that matter) is just wrong!!!
If they wanted to "Throw A Wildcard" into the longer races, how about having a Tyre go down randomly where you'd have to limp back to the pits for the remainder of a lap instead of having the car be nearly UN-drive able for a good portion of the series???
G) ALWAYS a gripe from me...all "Racing Tyres" should last longer!!! Go with fewer choices perhaps, "Hard", "Medium" & "Soft" for example but get somewhere closer to reality on wear characteristics. [/Final GT4 Rant]
Well, that's all I can think of at the moment. Feel free to add or tell me I'm full of "Hot Air". It won't be the first time I've heard it!!!...O.G.
