I don't care how long GT5 takes to launch...

I completely agree with every point you make except for saving during enduros. Woops, crashed, reload save, woops, could have taken that corner faster, reload save...

If you want to run an enduro you should set aside the time to complete it. Want to run the 24 hour race, get a co-driver.

I once said in a thread that the tire wear rates were unrealistic and was told emphatically that I was wrong - glad to see you also thought something was not quite right.

Looking forward to more of your race reports when GT5 comes out, I really enjoyed them - including all the colours, capitalisation, use of font size and smileys. Ptewey to all the keep it bland and boring crew.

I agree, we do not need SAVE for endurance race, all or nothing. Besides we have B specs, after few hours you switch to PC, no real life driver will do whole 24hour race flat! Or get some of your buddies and switching while pit stops. This is a sim, not silly rewind feature.

Hiya Moloch_horridus & NoxNoctis Umbra: I know nothing of a "Rewind" feature??? What I was getting at was an ability to "Save" during a Pit Stop & then continue on from there later. The Electricity where I live goes out quite often, so leaving the PS2 "On" 'till I get back to an Enduro isn't a viable option. My "B-Spec Bernard" sucks since I very rarely used him first time thru the game. If GT4 featured "Goat Roping" & "Steer Wrestling" I'd no doubt be able to find someone to share driving long distance races with here in North Texas but since it doesn't, chances are slim at best for that approach...O.G.

Um guys, the saving during enduros was aimed at 24 hour races. You'd have to be crazy to do those in A-spec.

A proportion of this forum is now crazy, because I said so. (Including myself)

I mean, c'mon, I'm sure PD noticed the mistakes and have taken the negative feedback from GT4 to improve the game. It will be better than GT4. If you guys think that all they have done is up the graphics, think again. (I'm not directing that at anyone. I'm just saying, if that's what you think, you're wrong.)

...The Electricity where I live goes out quite often, ...
Was the same at my place - I tried to use it to enhance the realism... when the power went out I pretended that the car had had a terminal breakdown and blamed it on my mechanics.

That's something I should have added to another thread, (how much have you spent) - a UPS - might have to look at one of those too if I ever get my way.

yea longest i could wait is a year from today lol
if they could add dynamic night and day and weather and heavier damage like glass shattering and bigger dents it would b worth the wait

That is the whole point of doing a 24 hour race, you race for few hours, then give it to another driver, you rest, and race again later!

If you guys want to SAVE and do it the next day, just do the 2-4 hour endurance racing. Save option in 24hour race will destroy the whole point of 24hour race!

Which is what? Load up on Red Bull and pray there isn't a power surge?

Very few people have friends that would be willing to do something like what you are suggesting. Most people want to race the whole 24 hours but frankly that just isn't an option(Don't even mention B-Spec, it takes out a large chunk of the fun). Take me for instance, I normally watch at least 1 movie/day. Now this wouldn't be a problem until you factor in the fact that my PS3 is the only thing capable of playing Blu-Ray. Now yes, I know not watching a movie for one day wouldn't kill me, but than again it would take me more like 2-3 days to do the whole race. Now you have to take into account the fact that the PS3 may not be able to handle that amount of stress(mainly on the BR drive). My point is you shouldn't force people to put undue stress on their console or tie it up for a week. Of course pausing time for hours at a time isn't very realistic either so they should remove that as well, right?.

The best part about a save option, is that it's just that, an option. You don't have to use it if you don't want to.

The whole point of a 24 hour race is that it is a test of endurance - add a save option and the point is gone, it becomes a repetitive chore (or something else - that's just what popped into my head first).

Perhaps if races completed with a save were marked as such - those that have the stamina to complete a 24 hour race without a save deserve some recognition.

I don't see how it would make it a repetitive chore, it would just be the same race broken into smaller segments.

I also doubt PD would be stupid enough to encourage someone to play a video game for 24 hours. Video games get enough crap as it is I can't imagine what they would say about a company telling people to play a game for 24 hours(I would guess via a trophy). I think that is actually one of the reasons for B-Spec, they wanted to make sure they weren't going to get criticized for making someone stay up for 24 hours playing a game.

so gt5 will have b spec right ?
i remember doing the 24hr race on i did about 2 hours total lol
A trophy would probably be 6 hours in a spec mode

ALL Tracks should be used!!![/B] I mean, why bother to digitize a venue then never use it??? Tsukuba was utilized 32 times in GT4 while to the best of my knowledge Suzuka West & Beginner Course Reverse were NEVER used. (I'm talkin' GT Mode here!) Seems like the programmers just kept hitting the Tsukuba (32) / Fuji (31) / Suzuka (23) / (35 times if you count Suzuka East!!!) buttons instead of looking for a more suitable venue. Guess I should be grateful Test CURSE :yuck: was used only three times! Ditto

4) Why are some 200 Point Races ridiculously easy & others "Impossible"??? I don't think that whole deal was well thought out at all. Plus why "200" anyhow? Seems an "Odd" number to me, 100, 500 or 1,000 would have made more sense. I Like the 100 idea.

7) NOT being able to "Save" during the Enduros is a MAJOR Screw-Up :indiff: IMHO. We have lives and kids who want to use the PS2 to play Kingdom Hearts. Try telling them they have to wait a week or two. Try telling your wife!

8) The "AI" hits YOU in Special Conditions Hall & YOU get a 5 second penalty!!! Whose bright idea was that??? I'm okay with this one as long as the AI gets it too.

...I also doubt PD would be stupid enough to encourage someone to play a video game for 24 hours...

Nor are drivers irl allowed to drive for 24 hours - there has to be a team so that each driver gets a break.

So how are you going to accomplish this without using crappy B-Spec? Online driver switches are extremely hard to pull off, especially for a single player race(Which ironically would require a game save). Not to mention the people that don't have internet/don't play online. Than of course you have to factor in that you would be handing the fate of the race to a complete stranger. Having a group of friends would work, problem is that most people don't know anyone that wants to be playing a video game at 3am.

I really don't get how making the game more accessible is somehow a horrible thing. It's not like it affects the realism part a whole lot. I mean you are traveling around the earth in milliseconds, pausing time, using a car that costs millions of dollars without any real risk and all of this is played out on a screen with a plastic controller. Not sure how not saving would add a whole lot of realism.

Hopefully KY and team has given us the ability to save at anytime we want in endurance races. Plus make it possible to do other races without having to finnish a endurance race that we have started.

On topic of this thread.

I do care some what about when this game launches! I would really like to still be breathing, makes playing the game alot more fun!!! That is just my opinion though!

I hadn't even considered online driver changes - great idea if they could make it work.

I'm not saying being able to save is a horrible thing - I can see the practical reasons for doing so, and it is better that leaving the game on pause for hours. It is, however, a fundamental change that allows people to correct errors/mistakes by travelling backwards in time and I would prefer that it is not implemented.

We will be playing this game for years - planning for the day when it will be possible to drive in a 24 hour race should be a big thing. I couldn't in GT4 - I did not have the time and I have no friends to share the driving with. I used b-spec. I would love to be able to organise 1 or 2 friends to come and race for 24 hours - we could all get some rest at some point - it would be great fun.

Wow!! Online driver changes would be pretty cool.Haven't considered that either
The online possibilities would provide great fun. :)

I see what you mean O.G. but I don't remember the game changing the rigidity-ness during a race, but it has been 5 years since I've Sim Mode'd so I'll take your word for it.

How is B Spec no fun, its just like real life 24 hour race! After the driver, you for example, do lets say 3-4 hours of racing, you pit the car, and you hand over to the other guy, so this case would be B spec, So the driver, you, now all you can do, just like real life, either REST or just watch the other driver drive your car.

Besides now EVERYONE would say I completed a 24 hour race once the save option goes, its just super easy, oh I crash, wait let me load, TA DA so simple. 24 hour race is for endurance. You need a day and night off to do it! It was so much fun for me to do it. it was during summer time, I pick a day that no one will bother me, no work etc etc.. I started the race, after 3 hours I gave it to B-spec, i had my alarm clock and took little naps in between, constantly watching the screen, seeing my car's position, after 3-4 hours I took back the wheel and race more hours! its so much fun and sure it can be tiresome but in the end you do realize that you have raced in a 24 hour race!

That is the whole point of a ENDURANCE race, dont get lazy. And I bet you not every 24 hours there is a power shortage. if so too bad, just like in real life, cars can just BREAK without any heads up. SO deal with it. And yes PS3 can HANDLE 24 hours + of nonstop gaming. Just make sure your in a cool room for that, or put a FAN in front of it.

Watch these cool videos and you will see the WHOLE POINT OF 24Hour race.

PLEASE PD don't make it for the NOOBs with SAVE FEATURES!

I played through with a friend, taking turns for 2h each.
But nowaday with work an school, I won't have time for that.
Also I don't see how saving would be for "noobs" - Don't like it, don't use it. Its that easy
Lots of people here have better things to do than play a video game for 24h straight.

So they should not do a 24 hour race. They should do 2-4 hour endurance race. But if they dont have time for 24 hours.. they should not play video games at all.

If 24 hours would be SOOO easy with save feature, then everyone would be cocky about it and say I've competed it. With no Save feature, the true Hardcore Gran Turismo fans would say they did!

Instead of Save feature, use B spec mode if you dont have time. Or just don't play video games at all.

So I'm not allowed to complete the video game I bought because I'm not a "hardcore" Gran Turismo fan and have more important things to do than play videogames for 24h ?
Wow...

Make it a trophy like "win the 24h race without pause" so people can brag to their friends.

some people want the release sonner, but they dont think on the detail that the 1000 cars (that i hope there wanna get) have to get the the same good detail that the other maded cars have and it will get some time to get this details, some big time.
i think the game is going great and i dont care if the game is getting 10 years to get ready because i see the good realism that the grand turism HD(i play from a friend s PS3) and it is like the reality.
and the gt5 is getting better and with the 1000 cars it will be an excellent game.👍
some guys say that the Forza is better than the gran turism.
that because the forza have the customized mode and it is more easyer to drive(like drifting).
Really the fisics of driving in the forza are not a good realism compared to gran turism. :yuck:
and the realism in the gt series are better than the forza series.:)
But the forza still a good game.
but for realism aspect and driving, the gran turism is the best.👍
PS:I still dont have PS3:ouch:
i think that the real fans of Grand Turism can wait for an excelent game like gt5:)

So people who have lives shouldn't play video games? I apologize for having friends that I enjoy spending time with.

How the hell is B-Spec harder than saving, with B-Spec you aren't even driving however with the save feature you are still driving the whole 24hours.

Frankly, it's people like you that make me hate what GT has become.

That's just stupid and it doesn't make the slightest bit of sense.

Guess I'm not a true "hardcore" Gran Turismo fan then. What will I ever do with myself?

Listen, n00b, you're entitled to your opinion, as stupid as it may be, but on some of these points you're way out of line.
Seems that to you it's all about elitism. I'm not sure if being perceived as "cool and hardcore" by random people on the internet is what makes you feel like a man, but you're sure making i seem that way.
Express your opinion all you want but at least try not sounding like a 12 year old with an e-hard-on for interwebz acceptance and notoriety.

With B spec you get diffrent points, you wont get any A spec points.

Why do you hate GT fans? Because really, you either race 24 hour race or not. Save feature will dumb it down. Besides not seeing a FRIEND for 24 hour race is not big deal. heck you can start early Saturday Morning, and finish SUnday morning. It does not take THAT big chunk of your life.

That is what seperates the Casual gamers from the Hardcore gamers. Same as the real life 24hour race, no casual Sunday Race car driver will go there because he think he should enter. it's really for the hardcore, for Pride.

So, make it so it shows saves or something.

Other than the rampant elitism and constant flaming of people that like having fun more than having a bigger e-🤬? I also don't get why I should schedule my life around a video game, frankly that's the first sign of addiction.

I'll stay happy as a casual gamer, chances are a large amount of people who will buy GT5(basically all but a few thousand probably) are also casual gamers. Now how stupid would PD be to completely abandon them?

If you use B-Spec you don't get any points at all, you just get the prize money and the prize vehicle. Period.

A save feature is going to dumb it down, but relying on the retarded AI (in the case of GT4) will not? Oh, and you do realize in real life the drivers effectively drive in shifts, right?

No, that's what "hardcore" gamers think separates themselves from everyone else. It's a bloated ego, and a fragile one at that. Anything else you wanna say that makes little to no sense whatsoever?
