yes if you read I did write that doing a 24 hour race is in SHIFTS, that you can drive for a bit then give it to B-Spec or your firend.

Why do i make no sense? i am standing up for the HARDCORE gamers. stop acting like a child. Yes EGO exists my friend. Just ask any 24 hour race car driver, they have EGOs though the roof, I would too! They deserve it!

Thing is, in real life it is an actual accomplishment. In the video game world though it really doesn't mean crap. You don't get a trophy(real one, not a little emblem), you don't get the money and sure as hell don't get any recognition. The only thing you get from beating it in the video game world is a slightly bigger e-🤬. Which doesn't get you anywhere either.

I'm not the one calling people n00bs simply because they don't consider giving up an entire saturday for a bit of gaming, as something worthwhile.
As for this EGO thing, why does switching drivers every 4 hrs give you such an ego boost? I don't get it. They don't drive 24hrs straight, they take turns.
I don't remember Parnelli Jones or Carol shelby being egomaniacs.
 
Either way, if there is SAVE feature, as soon as someone SAVES during 24h race, the trophies system should be disabled.

There everyone is happy. Especially teh CASUAL gamers..

You're one of those people who think trophies and Gamerscore amount to something, aren't you?
 
Yeah why do you ask? I love trophies because it means I can coplete something. It's just like getting a A in class. Not just showing up, sure I don't have to have ALL trophies, but at least a 24 hour Veteran Trophy would be nice on my Stats :)


Also I take the NOOB comments back guys, I don't think its nice to call the casual gamers NOOBs. Yeah, true, some peoplle don't have times for Video games.

Surely you are capable of completing something without the aid of trophies? Why do you need a trophy to say you area 24 hour veteran? Is it not enough to know in yourself that you completed it, and can just tell people about it? Oh, you need it for proof...I see, bragging rights then? That's all trophies mean.

Does it matter? Because you guys are really starting to pick on me.. there are rules on these forums.. sure I picked on the people who think there should be save feature on the 24h race, but I did apologized. yet you guys still pick on me because I like trophies in a game.

As for trophies, I happen to think they are a pointless, stupid waste of time. If people cannot get replay value out of a game without resorting to hunting trophies, or need them as a means to brag about how much they have done... *shakes head*

Though admittedly I'm really just trying to get to 100 posts.
 
I'm no trophy-whore and really don't get the whole excitement they apparantly seem to create for a lot of gamers.
Would be nice if all the trophies in GT5 were just actual trophies won during each race/licence test ( gold/silver/bronze, now only visible online ) and not like most games nowadays just stupid pointless "achievements" like a special trophy when you spent more than 60 hours on the Nurburgring in a Daihatsu Midget, etc.
 
Am I missing something here??? 💡 I've never found a "Rewind" feature in GT4. What I was mentioning in the original post, was a desire to "Save" @ a Pit Stop & continue on (say, after a dinner break or a nap) in "A-Spec", driving the entire race myself (but NOT in ONE session), withOUT using "B-spec Bernard"!!!

@ NoxNoctis Umbra: It sounds to me like you think I'd want to "Re-Start" the race after a crash or a bad lap. I assure you that is NOT the point I was attempting to make. I'd prefer to drive the entire 24 hours myself, just NOT in one session. Clear enough???...O.G.

Wow - this thread turned to **** overnight. It seems to me that there is one camp that says a save is good because there are a whole bunch of people who don't want their lives to revolve around a video game and have another life (somehow more solidly based in reality) and yet find b-spec appalling and apparently do not have enough rl friends with which to share a 24 hour test of endurance and who still manage to complete a game with over 600 events of which 3 are 24 hour endurance races. [This is not in anyway aimed at Old Geezer, whom I have immense respect for and fully appreciate your reasons for wanting a save].

In the other camp (a very small camp it would seem) are those that believe an in race save would compromise the integrity of the game. I agree that for a mammoth game such as GT 100% completion should be for hardcore gamers. It takes hundreds, if not thousands, of hours to complete - if you get 100% you are addicted, you are escaping reality (assuming that that part of your life spent playing games is somehow outside of reality) and you are accomplishing something that not many people can do - it may be trivial and it may not contribute to the greater good but it is an accomlishment none the less.

A solution I thought of last night would be for the save to be erased on reload - this would prevent the virtual rewind and satisfy almost everyone. Of course people would work out ways around it - good luck to them, who cares.

One question I would like answered though is why do casual gamers who care nothing for trophies or bragging rights feel they need to complete the 24 hour events?

The second a game requires you to put A 24hr period in your real life aside in order to achieve a trophy, it stops being a game and becomes a problem.
 
Don't forget, maybe 2 or even more 24h races!
If you don't like the event maybe don't play it, or just use B spec though it all.
Also I bet once full game comes out. Someone will create a LAN even with 16 cars with 48+ drives (at least 3 drivers per car/team) Now that will be awesome!

There has never been a requirement to complete the 24 hour events within a 24 hour period.

Ok, so what is the difference between leaving the game and ps3 on, no thanks, and saving the game and resuming at a later time?
