Im just curious to know for any future goals and being involved on this site.

Thx :gtpflag:

There are no specific requirements, I just choose people who I feel share my vision for the site. :)

I like that answer and no I don't want to be a mod I get crankie.

This brought to you by that "Crazy opelgt guy"

Not by asking.

I can haz mod status??? :dopey:

Or am I too young? Moderating seems pretty easy. Lurk the forums, anyone breaking the AUP, warning if first time offense, if they do it again, bam, infraction points, or temporary ban. Continuous breaking of AUP, and, banahmmer.

You might need to be a person Jordan and the staff can trust (this isn't specifically to you, more like everyone) and has at least a smidge of emotional stability so you don't go on a banahammer bender. But I think the Moderator Crew here at GTPlanet is already filled, I see maybe one or two added within the next year? I could be wrong, but that's what I think.

Regarding to "I can haz mod status?"

I will ask....

May I please be in the use of Moderation status?

Yes, I'm kidding, although one day I wish to be one.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I suspect that if you broadcast your desire to be a moderator, you'll never be invited. Everyone thinks that he or she would be a great moderator, but surely two of the most important qualities for someone in that position are humility and self-restraint, which you're loudly demonstrating that you lack when you say "I'd love to become a moderator someday."

The AUP used to contain something along the lines of:
Do not ask to become a Moderator. These positions are appointed by Jordan at his discretion.

Which is part of the reason why there aren't more threads like this. ;)

I'm just curious to know for any future goals and being involved on this site.
Thanks

Not ignoring some basic requirements of the AUP, such as deliberately posting with poor grammar (missing apostrophes) and use of "textspeak" like "thx" would make a positive start! :p

On a more serious note: I imagine if there ever was a time we would see the Moderator ranks expanded (if it's infact needed), the imminent release of GT5 probably makes it the present. I remember the rush of new members around GT4, and it can only be bigger this time around. T-Minus 32 days before the flood of "LAWL who can beat mah VAY-RON?!" threads!

Sorry, I was just messing around, I know I'm too young to be one and probably never will be. And I can accept that because I don't need to be one. Just adding somelight-heartedness around here, if anyone asks.

I agree with Slip, sometimes the GT5 section gets so messy that I just refrain from visiting the forums for a couple of days. It's quite hard to keep intelligent discussions whilst standing on a hurricane of useless threads and pointless posts. :grumpy:

As for being a mod, some things must be considered before applying (not recommended) or accepting the honor:
- You must be strong minded, and have some degree of psychological stability. Nothing should be taken as personal.
- Maturity is mandatory, you must be a full adult or have compatible mental age.
- Have enough spare time (or find the time, somehow) to do your job as a mod.
- And most important of all, work for the community as a whole. Every member around shares common interests and passions, working to help people always wins you more reputation ( Famine and Smallhorses are great contributors, as well as AMG, Parnelli Bone and many others.... ).

For those members who share these ideals, I fully respect you and admire your contributions and posts in this site. Wheter you're a mod or not is irrelevant as long as you can do great things happen without a blue name tag. :D

Drop this mod fever, and enjoy your stay at GTP dude. ;)

Cheers,

Peter

Sorry, I do not type apostrophes most of the time. And I defiantly did not notice the "thx" haha, Thank you

Hey! No fair I can't pay for things!

Look, I know I have had a few warnings, but I am perfectly capable of adding to your moderating staff my experience and wisdom. This is not sarcastic. I wish to be a mod.
Give me a trial at least.

Well for a start it would help if you read Smallhorses post only 9 above yours.

Given that you opened the subject. You have more than a few warnings technically you are on last chance status, one more AUP violation and you will be automatically banned.

Given that in your short membership period you have shown a stunning lack of regard for the AUP, I have to say that you would not be a first choice for a new moderator.

Scaff

Owned, twice...

I personally do not see myself ever becoming one here. I know that if I was, I would have to put my act together alot better and reread stuff from another POV (something I have been lacking lately). I wouldn't mind moderating a forum but I don't think I would openly take it if I had the choice.

I am having trouble lately toning down some of my posts, some have been coming across pretty harsh...3 warnings and no infractions, you would think I would learn to reread :D...

And that is why the top post made me laugh.

Then again, 3 warnings over three years. Maybe on your anniversaries you can get a warning. :dopey:
What is the average member's No. of warning and infractions?

I think you lost any chance of becoming a moderator when you made this thread.

Does anyone find this kind of funny?

I suppose I'm not an average member then...

Think about it.

How many members do we have? 143,057. How many people do you think have been given any Warnings or Infractions? There's just over 1,900 threads in the relevant forum (some may be the same people and we haven't merged the threads, but for argument's sakes let's assume not).

1900/143057 = 0.014 warnings/infractions per member. You'd need to look through 73 average members before you found one with a warning/infraction - 72 of them would not have any.

If you're to cut the memberlist down to just those who've posted, it's 34,029 members and 0.056 warnings/infractions per member. You'd need 18 posting members to find one with a warning/infraction - 17 of them would not have any.

Prefer members with double-figure postcounts? That's 11,736 members and 0.162 warnings/infractions per member. You'd need 6 posting members to find one with a warning/infraction - 5 of them would not have any.

The average posting member doesn't have any warnings/infractions. It's not something to be proud of to be outside that average.
