The only way the GT gets me to forget about the Bullitt is when its in that awesome orange color. Its just so sexy, needs louvers (sp?) on the back window and a black stripe down the side...

Now you know I what go through every day except in newer tech. :D

...You're a bad man... I'm not too worried about it. If all works out sooner than later I should be able to buy a 535i. It'll be a project car for sure. (My dream wheels are in my avatar, but I think i'll be realistically going for Style 5s)

You just want a Paranelli Jones Saleen, don't you? ;)

Whatever keeps you going to get the car will be worth it. 👍

Caught me!

After I sat in one, I fell in love... The feelings are still there if Saleen wants to give me one...

Understandable, but I just can't wrap my head around it. Car and Driver had a pretty shining review of it in their newest issue, called it the "two and one half series," which seems like a good characterization. I dunno, I just don't quite have it all together, likely due to not yet seeing one in person.

I haven't driven one yet, so I'll reserve judgment until I do. My initial impression is that I'd rather have a 335i Coupe as well. I'd swing the extra 6k just on looks alone.

I also think the 128i may actually be the sweet spot in the range. 3252 lbs. 230 hp. Basically lighter and more powerful than the last E46 330i Coupe. Not a bad deal for $28k. Too bad the M-sport suspension and body kit is exclusive to the 135i. I really hate pricing strategies like that.

...I just have a hard time justifying the price when the 3-er is just slightly more...

$6k is a lot for many people. But yeah, I agree the pricing could be more aggressive. No doubt the exchange rate has a big hand in this. They should build them here... everybody wins.

But keep in mind the 1er is engineered on a level very close to the 3er. For instance, you not only get the same powertrain, but the same aluminum double-pivot front suspension and a 4 link rear. There aren't many sporty cars in the 30k range that have all aluminum suspensions. The A3 doesn't (subframe only). Neither do the 350Z or RX-8. Not the C30. The Mustang you mentioned doesn't even have IRS.

And I'm sure the car has NVH levels pretty close to it's big brother. So the weight and price is there for a reason.

i happen to like the exterior and the interior of the 135 better than any mustang. when i first decided to upgrade my auto the first car i looked at as an 04 mach 1. i would have purchased it but i am still young, so while i have good credit i dont have a lot of history. i needed a cosigner and neither of my parents were willing in fear of my death. i am hoping i can save a big chunk for a dp, and accrue some more credit history by the end of the year and either convince my dad i wont kill myself or cover so much with the dp i wont be financing more than 15k.

and I would def take a mach 1 over the 135 IF i could find one with under 20k miles. (it would save me $15k too.) the problem with a big v8 (would also love the 04 svt cobra) is that i commute to work and i would need to either keep my current car or buy another cheap commuter. 5mpg is a big difference, especially now.

(edited to point out my attempt at irony failed.)

for the 30 - 40k performance/price game, i generally eliminate offerings from mistubishi or subaru immediately. i just dont like the looks that much, and, i dont want 16 year olds trying to race me at every stop light. i still like the 350z and i may hold out until next year to see more about the genesis coupe. other than the g35/37 what am i missing?

Insurance will be a big issue too. Ive tried to purchase a GT in the pass and my quote was about $830 a month, even the a RSX Type S was about $800+ (not including the car notes). This is a tough city when it comes to young people and sports cars tho, Seattle maybe abit better I dont know.

830?

i pay 450 every 6 months for my escort. (my trans union insurance score is a 2. 1-9 with 1 being best.) i havent had an official quote but most people i talk to seem to think its going to be about 300 for what im looking at. a coworker of mine (23 yrs old to my 22) pays less than 200 per month on his 05 GTO. but he is married and owns multiple cars so he gets a little bit of a discount.
