an RB26DETT in a 200SX or 180SX and tune it for drifting. an LS9 in a Holden Monaro, once again.. drift!!

or if it would fit.. a Lambo LP640 engine into that Daimler Motor Carridge thing.
 
TBH i don't realistically think we will see engine swaps. I mean if PD really is modelling damage that well, then it's almost certain we will see the engine, and theres no way in hell are they going to show a different engine other than the stock. The two just don't go hand in hand, especially on current hardware and even on a supercomputer it would still be hard cos PD would still have to model the connection methods for the different engine types.
Ironically it could have been a possibility on older hardware and older GT games because the graphical quality was so poor you wouldn't notice the difference but with GT5s detail level this would be too hard without ruining the overall quality of the game. It's funny cos this is probably one area that will get harder and harder to produce as graphics improve. The only way around this now and in the future would be to produce some kind of software that figures out how to connect the various fittings in different cars, and that's something i think the rocket scientist of computer programmers couldn't do. Yes it is possible to do it poorly, but no way to the standard of the rest of GT5s graphics. But hey this is a cool thread neway, we can dream right?
 
To add a realistic engine swap to the mix. A K20A into an elise/exige and either some N/A work or supercharged.
 
An RX7 with an RB26DETT or a K20A in a MR-S :sly:

If PD implement engine swaps I hope it's done in a realistic manner.

Anyway if they do here's mine.

RB26DETT in a XU1 Torana (If we get the car which i very much doubt).

Just hope i can put some really good brakes on it too. :)

At one of the car shows I've been to I saw an FD RX-7 with an SR20 DET in it, and thought that was a sure fire way to annoy the rotorheads. I'd love to see a 26B in an RX-7 - there was a quad rotor RX-7 at the drags at the same show - sounded AMAZING.

Would love to put the dry sumped v8 from the ford gt into an old school muscle car

Just had a thought.. if the Holden FJ is in it.. one of them with either an RB26 or an LS7!!
 
After reading this I hope to god we don't get engine swaps, I know alot of people are joking around but I fear quite a few are serious.

GT5 should be a réalistic game, and swap engine of a car change everything, power of course, but althought steering weight balance, bracking....

put an havy powerfull engine in the front of a standart small front wheel drive car and you will get...
An havy engine with an unusable car :crazy:

Some are jocking and other are really mad:dunce:

Lol, some of the creations would be absolutly shocking but funny to watch online. I agree though i don't think GT is really the game for engine swaps unless they can bring it up to the same level of detail as the graphics which i beleive they have no chance. As graphics improve it only shows the flaws and whats missing from the game even more. Imagine how complicated it would be to make an engine swap actually look convincing and in harmony with the rest of GT5s graphics, next to impossible if you ask me which is why i don't think it will happen. I could see it on a physics and sound basis but not visually, especially with damage.

Correct, and that is exactly the reason why it should be implemented in the game. Engine swaps are used in racing extensively, and with the added power, there can be trade offs, weight and handling for example. This is why engineers have to really consider the modifications they are going to perform on the car, to see if the benefits will outweigh the cons. The GT series has always been motivated by realism, and engine swaps are an every day occurrence in motor sport.
 
P51 mustang engine into a DB5.Just fit the prop, wings, tail peice and modify interior and sunroof for two ejector seats.

I'm ok with this, but only with racing conversion (like in granturismo 1),

For example,
Change 206, focus, C4 engines with standard WRC 2L turbo engine

or grande punto, 207, clio, Leon engines with standard 1.6L turbo engine for S2000 or WTCC

in that way these cars will be allowed to specific race
(change road car to race car with official competition engine)...this kind of stuff must be made with realistic parameters, and all the car must be changed!
 
- Lotus Europa with Lotus Esprit V8 engine

- Audi A4 with W12 Engine from the upcoming Audi A8 W12

- BMW M3 with the V12 from the LM Car

- BMW 1.6 Coupé with BMW 760i V12 engine

Actually, I dont think PD would go so far, to model the engines. Lets face the truth: Im 100% sure that PD wont even model the car interiors after an weight reduction

Engine swapping would be interesting. Maybe we gonna have to prepare for some race series in GT, with engine restricting rules etc
 
I'd want to do things that I really think would be great (ie: not completely destroy the car in the process)...

K20 ITR motor into an EG6 (While we're on the topic of induction mods, ITBs anyone?)
2ZZGE w/6-speed trans into an AE86 (Again, ITBs)
RB26DET into a 370Z

'Course there would be some oddballs...

Murcielago V12 in an A8
R26B in an Exige (On second thought, that's not all that odd...)
F40 Twin-Turbo V8 in an F430 (With bigger turbos)(Again, probably not impossible nor impractical, just unlikely)

I'm sure there would be many more when and if it becomes possible...

Oooh, if the Tommy Kaira ZZ-II is once again available I'd have to do something ridiculous with it as I love that car. Maybe McLaren F1 V12?
